- Thermal Induction Heating - The knives can be heated in a matter of seconds using a special thermal induction heater in the base of the knife, this allows the knife to slice through most common materials with ease, however, it is not as clean nor as effective as a lightsaber in this regard.
- Datajack - If this knife is embedded into a PCB from a computer system or any other comptuer component, it will use its specialized design to integrate itself into the computers local systems allowing the user to easily infilitrate the system itself using an outside wrist computer or other slicing tools. It does not bypass the system itself but it does give critical physical access to the machine which makes the act of actually bypassing security measures significantly easier.
- Cutting Power - This knife has a ridiculous amount of cutting power when it is using its thermal induction heater allowing it to cut through all but the heaviest of armors.
- Versitility - It can be used to slice almost any computer system assuming you are close enough to drive the knife in and have the skills neccessary to bypass any security measures.
- Bzzzzzzzz - The thing vibrates with an incredible frequency due to the massive AC current that flows through it to create the induction heating, leaving it with less than optimal stability for people not trained in its use.
- Bzzzzztttttt - The power generator on the knife can only maintain the heat for a few seconds at most before it has to recharge its batteries, and while it can recharge itself in the field this can take a minute or two when the heat might be needed.
- BZZZZZZT - The knife is incredibly loud when the thermal cutter is on, as the vibration can be heard quite a bit aways.
The one thing that Slicers despise is finding physical access. It is very well known that if you have physical access you have a backdoor right into whatever you want, however the issue with this is that sometimes there are physical measures to prevent the aspiring slicer from just hooking up their data jack to the computer and slicing in, that is where the TICKS comes in. The TICKS combines a high frequency induction heater, a knife, and a datajack, all into one. If you manage to get anywhere near the computer you want to break into, all it takes is driving this thing right into the PCB and the super-heated knife will resolder anything it touches to itself, letting you slice right in to your hearts content. The only problems with the knife are the incredibly strong vibrations which create numerous problems in and of itself, and the low battery life of the knife itself. The thing makes an incredibly loud buzzing noise whenever it is used making the thermal mode useless for stealth, and the very rapid, incredibly strong vibrations can make it difficult to hold and use for the uninitiated. The TICKS is designed to link up to most standard slicing toolkits and most wrist computers via short range radio interlink, and for more long range hacking the radio link can be switched out with a long range subspace uplink allowing for field agents to hand off slicing work to remote slicers. All in all, this is a very well refined tool which would make a great addition to any slicers toolkit.
