- All standard features.
- Strike-Foils: The Huntress-class TIE-H is equipped with S-foils, more commonly seen on X-Wing type fighters. When open the ship is more stable, has access to more advanced weaponry as well as a greater field of fire, increasing the ship’s armament class. When closed, the TIE-H’s flight patterns are far more dynamic, giving it greater mobility and allowing it to reach truly remarkable speeds.
- Stealth Systems: To make the TIE-H more effective in combat, they have been equipped with some passive stealth systems including: Anti-Ion Emission Tracer, Sensor Mask, and a Stygian Triprismatic Polymer. While these do not make the ship in any way invisible, they may give the Huntress-class the drop on the unwary and help its defensive capabilities.
- Strike-Foils: The dual modes of the TIE-H’s strike-foils allows it to adapt by prioritising movement or power. This makes the fighter both versatile and powerful.
- Speed Demon: The TIE-H is a fast ship, and it becomes even faster with the S-foils closed. The closed S-foils also improve manoeuvrability by providing it with more dynamic stability allowing it to take tighter turns.
- Stealth Systems: To add to the TIE-H’s efficacy, the passive stealth systems make it harder to track and trace, but also harder to hit. This makes the TIE-H very effective in ambush assaults.
- Low Power Mode: While the S-foils’ closed position allows the ship greater speed, it also strips it of most of its firepower. This mode is thus ineffective for assault. One has to choose either great speed or firepower. Switching between the two modes in a dogfight would demand incredible timing.
- Small Squadron: Due to the cost, size, and particular needs of the TIE-H, it comes in a very small squadron size. On their own, these fighters may well be overwhelmed by greater numbers.
- Imperfect Cover: The stealth systems are very basic. The primary purpose of these features is to confuse scanners. They do not make the ships invisible or undetectable. Damage taken may knock these systems out and even when sensors can't pick them up, they can still be seen by the naked eye.
The Sith Empire fell, and those who did not join with the Brotherhood of the Maw descended into warlordism as they clung to their remnants of power and squabbled with other warlords over the scraps on the table. It was then Darth Ophidia decided that she would no longer sit idly by and play at neutrality while everything she fought for was divided up between pretenders. Her answer was betrayal and ascension. But now, she had to contend with the Eternals and the Kainites, who had far more established armies. Fortunately, the Tsis’kaar had contacts in a shipyard, who were inclined to produce a new line of ships.
The inspiration behind the TIE-H Starfighter lay in old reports, new observations, and a willingness to experiment. One of the observations made was that the TIE design favourded speed and aggression, which was desirable. However, it required a larger squadron to be ultimately successful, this was something the Tsis’kaar did not possess. The X-wing, however, regularly survived against greater numbers. So, by creating a hybrid of the two most iconic fighters in the galaxy, the Tsis’kaar and their allied shipbuilders. aimed to create the perfect blend of speed, survivability and firepower. The result was the TIE-H, or TIE Huntress as it was also named.
The Strike-foil design allows the ship to transform from a speeder to a powerful fighter. This makes the ship able to quickly descend upon a battleground and then transition to attack mode for strikes or dogfighting. The armour, shields and the passive stealth systems were supposed to increase the survivability of the TIE-H, but they also make it a proficient ambush combatant as it may avoid scanners for long enough to get into attack position. This suited the elusive Tsis’kaar well.
Further, the technicians added a hyperdrive and enough storage for a week stranded. The ship only requires one pilot, but there is space for either a copilot or an astromech if need be. In the end, with the added size, advanced systems, and sheer cost of production, the squadron count shrunk dramatically. With only four fighters per squadron, the TIE-HU are at risk against swarm tactics.
