Made for quick production, the TIE Specter forgoes comfort and hull integrity in favor of an agile, inexpensive and easy to produce ship. The TIE Specter is based off of the Sith Fighter of Revan's empire, a ship produced for the same reasons as its aesthetic successor. Unlike it's more ancient cousin, the Specter has a much heavier armament and does not make use of the long lost Rakatan tech that was used in the old design. Instead, the TIE Specter makes use of Imperial Twin Ion Engines and sports a heavier shield. However, the hull is just as fragile as it was on the old model and thus easily destroyed if the pilot cannot fly it to the fullest of its ability.
Some innovations made to this model, that were not present in the ancient Sith Fighter, are the twin light laser canons and the single standard laser canon. By splitting a single laser cannon's power between two light weapons, the ship hopes to put more lasers down range and rip apart enemy ships with small bites rather than massive haymakers. It is also worth mentioning that the fins where most of this ship is accounted for in, is merely just a "snap-on" hull that is locked into place around the control center in the middle of the craft. This design allows the pilot to quickly eject the pod from the hull for a quick getaway or in the event that the fins take too much damage.
This feature is also helpful in defensive operations as command centers, assuming they did not take major damage, can easily be taken and snapped onto a new hull quickly and sent back into battle. While this could also be done during offensive scenario, doing such a thing would require a ship with a storage of extra hulls.
