Tier Elevating Requirememts

So when the Factory used to be Mass produced meant the actual numbers in which an item was made, having Mass item requirements made plenty of sense. It did. Now though, I am confused, as it isn't the same thing it used to be. So I suggest an alteration to Minor being required for the growth, as several of the steps now basically equate to mass production simply with groups in mind to arm etc.

I think the concept, at least originally, was that start-up companies couldn't just fire out mass-production products, and so they would need to do development of some sort to warrant it. It's the metaphorical discovery of the assembly line, so to speak. That's how I see it, at least. Now the jump between tiers I and II are "mom and pop shoppe" to "small plant," at least as far as standards go.

I may be interpreting you wrong, but the way it sounds, making that the requirement would further devalue full scale productuons.

No, no, this I understand. But my point is with the change in production descriptive, Mass isn't the only Mass Production term. Most say that several groups can use items, which would, at least to me, be inferred as Mass Production in itself as well.

If I can sell Minor to several groups, and I choose each being a Major Faction, I would need mass production numbers to do so.

That's my point. Mass does not mean what it used to.

I think this is still confusing...

Ok my interpretation is that Mass used to be the quantity for which an item was made, now rather it is whom can use it. Minor, and beneath, specifically say that groups can use the item, now from my understanding, this means Mass but on a limited scale.

So, I recommend making Minor an acceptable alteration.

The two things you're talking about are the same, the latter is just more specific. Mass is "This is produced(and thus sold, as why would you operate at a loss) at a high enough level that feasibly anyone can get it" while Minor is "This produced enough that specific groups can feasibly get this." and it goes down to very specific groups, very specific individuals(PC's) and then only one individual.

Exactly. They are basically the same. Say I sell to the Jedi as minor, any guns lost or destroyed would need to be replaced. So I would need massive numbers to maintain a consistent flow.

Basically Mass Production

I would like to revisit this idea. In my semi-loa, I have looked to writing up a lot (over a dozen) subs of all kinds, yet still my mind freezes on some. Can I make this item? My company is only tier four, is that to much for it? I should level up the tier. I have basically all the stuff required blah blah blah.

Then it brings me back to this and I realized something. Via definitions, found amongst several sites, Mass is basically what we call limited, on a broader scale. I again recommend removal of this as a tier requirement, as it is unnecessary.

My point for this?

Limited (Only A Select Group Of NPCs/PCs)
Think of Val'hala, which has a massive army. Making for the arms of this planet alone is well beyond what is known as mass ideally.

Which means basically the first step into real production, is already mass production.
