Time Progression?

So I've been trying to figure this out without asking but I figured I might as well go ahead and do so. How does time progress on Chaos? Is a day IRL a day IC, does it employ time-skips, do the admins just decide the date when they wish for an event?

If time-skips are employed how is character aging handled?

[member="Mangus Abraxius"] It's up to you. Time progresses at whatever rate makes your RPs make the most sense. Tef does provide a timeline and an estimation of years that pass between 'Galactic Events', such as the events you see on our Official CHAOS Timeline. But the Admins don't hold anybody to it.

This allows people to age their characters or have children at their own good leisure. Our universe also has enough 'Time Paradoxs' that there are plenty of opportunities for weirdness to ensue. Lot's of people have been frozen in carbonite and thrown through a wormhole just to get here. Some characters during the Netherworld Event were sucked up into Hell and walked out younger than they went in.

Meh. It's up to you. Enjoy! :D

That seems rather odd and chaotic, but I guess that is this site's namesake. To each his on I guess.

[member="Mangus Abraxius"] Think of it this way? Your story is the one that matters. Not the website's.

Now, Is that kinda weird? Yeah. It's funky. But if you keep the focus on your character, his development, and a small group of colorful writer friends? It works out beautifully in the end. Trust me. I've done the whole 'Megaverse' thing before and it's not intimate or even intriguing most of the time. You end up as a minor participate at best or just another casual observer at the worst. However, here on CHAOS you are free to remain the center of attention for as long as you like. With a few bumps, bruises, and shenanigans along the way. :D :p

Happy hunting.

I've been on, even run sites, which have enforced timelines.

It rarely works out well because on the one hand you're constraining people and on the other we're not offering permanent events to give people something else to do.
It would also mess with people doing multiple RPs at once since if there was a fixed timeline that wouldn't be possible.

Our philosophy here at SWRP is to let people do their own thing within a framework created by staff, and only interfere when it negatively affects another.

I'm the exact opposite. I like enforced timelines and a direct course of events when it comes to storytelling, because nothing is more rewarding than seeing a Role-Play you do effect the galaxy as a whole. I've also found that it deters metagaming, keeping someone who is RPing across the Galaxy on a timestamped RP from jumping in and helping one of their friends when they are in trouble.

As far as them effecting the community, Mizahar is fantasy RPing site with one and it has one of the most active and vibrant community I've seen on a RP site in all my years RPing.

This is just my opinion on things, there's no need to get take offense to them.
