Description:

As the conflicts in the galaxy raged, the need for longer ranged weaponry capable of dealing death from afar was noticed. Researchers and designers from Tenloss rushed to meet the demand and soon produced the TMW-M1, a high powered, laser-based sniper rifle.

The TMW-M1, codenamed "Lance" by Tenloss R&D, is a unique principle on laser based weapons. The weapon fires a single, high powered, intense beam of laser energy for .34 seconds when the trigger is pulled. This beam impacts the target and, due to the high heat of the weapon, immediately flashburns the site. Depending on the target's composition, the impact area can burn a hole, in the case of various armors and metals, or cause the water in material (if the target is biological) to flash from liquid to steam, causing a small "bursting" area. This can cause traumatic and/or lethal wounds depending on the target location. The weapon can burn past most known armors, though for the heaviest of these, a skilled shot is required as the shot must be placed in the weakpoints of the enemy's armor. Even then, however, there is a chance for those weakpoints to hold up against a lone shot or two in those areas. Aside from this, the weapon is fairly standard with an effective range of 1,500m and an optimum range of 4,000m. The weapon is fairly reliable and easy to use, though they are only issued to snipers and marksmen of the G.A.R. who have undergone sniper training.

The weapon's downsides are fairly simple. The Lance's clip only holds five rounds total, meaning each round requires precise positioning so as to not waste a shot. The weapon cannot be "rapid fired" as the weapon must cool down for 3-5 seconds between shots (this is a safety mechanism built into the rifle. Tampering or removal of this mechanism voids Tenloss warranty and increases the risk for self harm or death by the user from weapon/power cell overload). Lastly, while the weapon can reach beyond the optimum range, this not only requires a very skilled sniper, but the weapon will see drastic loss of performance beyond the 4,000m mark as the laser begins to rapidly dissipate.
