To Damotite or Not to Damotite (Dominion of Lanteeb OOC)

Introducing the planet of Lanteeb the future home of the First Order. it is an agricultural and mining world that is highly xenophobic after being colonized by settlers from Rocantor . So instead of objectives we have Phases. Much like objectives pick the phase that fits your particular set of skills and jump in at the appropriate moment.

Now not to worry the Phases are only going to be separated by a day or two max so nobody has to wait forever for their entrance to make sense. Governors, Commissioners, and Intel Agents may chose a Phase they wish to enter at acting as the eyes and ears of the First Order. (Think the old Soviet Union Political Officers.) Or they may wait until Phase 3 to enter.

The idea of this dominion is to have a little bit of fun and let you inner "bad guy or girl out".

Phase 1.

The Blockade of Lanteeb. The First Order Fleet under orders from the Supreme Leader directed by High Command enter and establish Space superiority in orbit around Lanteeb. All First Order ships have established Rules of Engagement permitting opening fire on all non First Order vessels that enter Lanteeb space.


Phase 2.

Once Space Superiority has been established the fine Soldiers of the First Order will Descend to the Surface in Drop ships or shuttle in a Search and Destroy mission. If it is not First Order and has a weapon then it dies. Once the immediate opposition has been removed First Order troops will secure key installations such as government buildings, Army Barracks, and communications networks.


Phase 3.

Once the ground has been secured members of the First Order Government will descend to the surface to set up a temporary government during the transition period from an independent Lanteeb to a First Order Controlled one.

Makes for a better story to have a concrete goal in mind. But that is just personal opinion.

This also permits opposition throughout the Dominion with clear cut goals which it seemed liked the Admins would like to have.

To start with breach or break up the blockade, then repel or counter attack the Search and Destroy teams.

Just so I get this straight we are blockading a planet which is xenophobic?

Is the population human? If so then perhaps our blockade so to speak can be politically made out to be one of protection against xenos interests.

In fact to add some more flavor to this we can even say there are rival mining companies on the planet (Tier 1 size) some purely human and another owned by xenos.

This way our blockade is both one of protection of human/near humans and oppression of xenos.

My understanding is Humans from a nearby planet with a Xenophobic culture settled Lanteeb. It is the reason their membership in the Republic was kept less public and on the down low. As the Republic can't be seen in an oppressive light.

Me personally I like the idea of people like our lovely Intel Agent [member="Sentiri"] having an active role in this.

Basically the First Order as a whole is doing because you know the big boss says so. Each individual Ship Captain can divine their own personal reason for participation outside of just following orders.

I have not. Tier level, opposition, and the like I am leaving up to you guys. I just picked the planet and came up with objectives.

In the future - feel free to make Tier recommendations when proposing the Dominon. Simply sitting around and expecting the staff to figure it out, however, is not generally a good practice and can lead to a lot of confusion.

Lanteeb is in the same hex as Verkuyl and two sub'd planets, one of which has PC nobility/royalty. I'm happy to reach out to the Alliance to provide opposition, but I would prefer to present them with all the facts of the thread. As such, please post here when you've determined a suitable Tier for your dominion.

My original post included everything I wanted out of the Dominion of Lanteeb. Emphasis on Lanteeb no more and no less. However being a reasonable person and a flexible writer I am and have been willing to address questions and alternative ideas to ensure everyone felt like they could make a contribution to the Dominion.

Outside of that I really don't care.

I've just re-read the rules in depth...and my question is largely irrelevant. For the edification of all...if you start a dominion, and people keep posting...the dominion is not done (even if you try to claim it at 100 posts). So the potential for someone pushing the dom up to 150 and then starting a rebellion will continue to exist, and it can end up with the entire hex going to some other faction or remaining neutral.

Not anything we need to plan for, but if it looks to be going in that direction, the person that started the dom should post in this forum to get a plan worked out for defense. Can't really afford to only "care" about a singular aspect of a dom anymore. If you start trying to takeover a planet, everything in that hex not already controlled is at risk.

Lanteeb Specifically:

I think you can probably combine Phases 1 and 2...or run them concurrently. I know you said they'd be separated by only a couple days, but the reality is that in a couple days so little will likely have happened that you may as well just run both at the same time. This way you can say that the First Order arrived and blockaded the planet at the same time as dispersing troops to the ground.

It also allows our opposition to say they got on the planet before the blockade was in place...but doesn't allow them time to harden up on the ground while a blockade just sits up in orbit prior to any troops being sent down.

Revised objectives for Lanteeb:

Objective 1: Social/Political Takeover

Lanteeb is a planet colonized by xenophobic human settlers, with a small but vocal xeno minority. The First Order's objective is to curry political favor with the human settlers of Lanteeb to force a nationalist revolution. This may be done by any means necessary - political messages, populist demonstrations, and false flag operations to name a few. The humans of Lanteeb must be convinced that the First Order is the solution for their humanocentric nationalism.

Objective 2: Space Blockade and Control

The Blockade of Lanteeb. The First Order Fleet under orders from the Supreme Leader directed by High Command enter and establish Space superiority in orbit around Lanteeb. All First Order ships have established Rules of Engagement permitting opening fire on all non First Order vessels that enter Lanteeb space.

Objective 3: Ground Takeover

The Soldiers of the First Order will Descend to the Surface in Drop ships or shuttle in a Search and Destroy mission, targeted with capturing key strategic points on Lanteeb. There will be opposition from anti-First Order xeno rebels, as well as any other groups that wish to show up and contest our takeover.
