Duel To Desire Knowledge

Soto had only been awake for a short amount of time, and it was very apparent to him that much had happened while he was gone. Empire had risen and fell, and the Sith were fighting amongst each other far more than usual. This wasn't right, he needed to assist in uniting the Sith against the Jedi order, so they could rule the galaxy once more. If he was going to do that however, he needed knowledge, and lots of it.

The planet Saleucami was not too far from Malagarr, new home world of the High Sith order. Unlike Malagarr however, Saleucami was well populated. It's capital city was home to an especially large library, which held a databank of vast historical knowledge. Soto's goal was to steal the building's main data card, so he could download the knowledge to his brain later. The outer rim would lose a valuable asset, but Soto would gain the knowledge he had sought.

The Sith would arrive directly outside the building, parking an entire starship in the middle of a busy street. Many would be incredibly inconvenienced and angered. The main doors of the Gozanti would open to reveal a dark robbed humanoid wielding the hilt of a lightsaber. This individual was Soto, droid masquerading as Sith. He would begin walking down a metal ramp, off the large ship and toward the main doors of the city's library. A disgruntled citizen would approach the hooded droid, angrily shouting "Hey! Nerf herder! Get your ship out of the streets!"

To this, the sith would simply scoff, before igniting the red synthetic blade of his lightsaber. With a single stroke, the blade would cleave the man's torso in two. Onlookers would begin to scream and panic, while the droid would simply continue his walk toward the entrance of the building.

Saleucami.

It wasn't a planet Valery had visited before, mostly because Jedi business rarely had taken her to that part of the Galaxy. She was focused on helping lead the Jedi through the war with the Brotherhood of the Maw, and all her other time was either spent with her family or taking on the odd jobs. Today, she was on Saleucami for one such job — diplomatic tasks in the outer rim regions.

But after landing her X-wing in the spaceport and going through a few meetings, something else drew her attention. It started as a tremor in the Force that brought her outside and into the streets of the capital city, where she soon noticed a rather large vessel parked where it shouldn't be. Under normal circumstances, she would have guessed criminals or someone who had no clue what they were doing... but something felt off about the situation.

"Hmm..." she muttered to herself.

With her typical Jedi gear ready, she then decided to step up to the library. A feeling of death and fear already echoed through the Force by the time she reached the steps, so she drew the hilt of her double-bladed weapon into her hand, and moved inside to follow her senses. Whoever was responsible for the trouble here — she was going to find them.

With the only one who opposed him dead, the droid sith would begin walking up a flight of concrete stairs toward the large metallic doors of the library. As he reached the top of the steps, he could hear a set of locks engage in the doors. Did a library really have some sort of emergency shut down feature? That was certainly a surprise. Thankfully, Soto had his lightsaber.

With two hands, he would thrust the weapon forward, jabbing it into the thick metal of the doors. Slowly, he would begin cutting in to the hunk of metal, melting away the locks in the process. Of course, he would be soon interrupted as several police speeders pulled up. "Hold it right there sith!" One of the officers would shout. The rest of the law enforcement on the scene would all draw blasters. Soto would turn to face then, and simply scoff at their presence. His lightsaber would still be ignited, but he was no ready for battle. "Drop your weapon and come quietly. Maybe we can talk this out." The officer would remark.

"Unfortunately, I don't believe I can speak with the dead." Soto would reply. In that moment, the droid would leap from the top steps of the library, assisted by his jumpboots. He would land directly in front of the police captain, before embedding him crimson blade into the man's skull. Several officers would begin opening fire, but Soto would thrust his right hand toward an unsuspecting officer. Thanks to his V-82 Droid Tractor Arm, the man would be lifted off his feet, and pulled toward the sith. "Oh-- blast it, he's got me!" The man would utter in fear. As the various blaster bolts came his way, the droid sith would use the man's body as a human shield. Allowing him to be killed by his own allies.

As he held up the man with his right hand, he would begin slowly walking forward and slashing with the lightsaber in his left. Before long, the sith had butchered each officer who had arrived on the scene. Perahps he would finally be able to access the library now... "Finally... That was a slog."

Valery arrived at the horrific scene too late to do something about it, but the damage was still very much there. The bodies of police officers were scattered across the pavement and staircase, and very little remained of the door into the library. Judging by their injuries and the molten metal, she knew a lightsaber had been used to cause all of this, but one problem stood out to her.

She sensed no Sith or Force-sensitives nearby.

Of course, she knew of species and individual cases where some could go without a presence in the Force, but it was incredibly rare these days. Was it just someone who had gotten their hands on a lightsaber who did this? Or maybe something else was going on? Either way, Valery frowned and readied the hilt of one of her lightsabers in the palm of her hand. She had to be ready to respond swiftly to whatever threat still lingered nearby.

Because while she couldn't sense a presence, she did feel the tremors of potential danger echoing in the Force.

"Whoever is out there, show yourself," Valery said with her usual confidence and strength, as she walked up to the doors of the library and prepared to enter. She wasn't sure how far ahead the attacker had gotten, but she was more than ready to hunt them down through the entirety of the library if necessary.
