To Force a Cure

Daiq hated the Force. She believed it to be a mutation, a disease that affected certain individuals. She spent her medical career studying it. Sometimes the disease was spread through genetics, other times, it just seemed to appear on it's own. What caused it to begin with, she wasn't sure. Midichlorians were the current theory and had been for centuries, but Daiq believed that there was more to it than that. If the Force was a living being of sorts, then it was a sinister one at that. Sometimes she imagined that she could even see it, snaking it's way throughout the Galaxy and holding people in it's clutches. That made her shiver.

There were certain ways to block the Force. Daiq was well aware of certain creatures and species with the ability to repel the Force and render it useless. She wondered if she could somehow tap into that and expand on it to create a cure. The Galaxy would be far better off.

And that was the basis for her experiments. Some might think of them as cruel, but she didn't think so. They were a means to an end. Force users were second class citizens anyways, although they liked to pretend otherwise. There was a reason why Empires and Republics of the past used them as soldiers and tools.

Mattias approached Daiq on one of her rare trips outside of her laboratory. He was her right hand man, her eyes and ears to everything outside. "I found you another candidate."

"You have? Good. Send me the file."

"Already done so. I'm sure that you'll find him very interesting. [member="Connor Harrison"] . My network tells me that he had gone through some kind of change, almost as though his sense of self is completely gone. Could prove an interesting subject."

"Have him brought to me then."

"The operation is already underway."

Daiq couldn't help but smile, her mind already running through all of the different tests that the Force User would go through. "Good. Notify me as soon as he's in custody."

Mattias merely nodded and left her side. Daiq in the meantime observed the wind blowing through the trees. The good days were coming and she would be praised for her efforts. Here she was; Daiq...the woman that saved the Galaxy.

Massassi Temple
Yavin 4, Yavin System

Connor wasn't going to stay on Yavin 4 long, but he was going to stay long enough to drink in the history surrounding the planet and the many forces of good and evil that had looked to make it a home.

Midway between the Sith and Jedi sectors, the moon was peaceful and devoid of any involvement. It should be taken by the Sith and used for launching attacks. It should be broken apart and it's treasures discovered and taken, with who knows what forgotten under the great temples and arenas.

He had flown his one-man transport high above the surface to get a good look at the terrain below, and also to see the temples peaking above the treetops, each one housing so much history.

Now he was on ground level and stood below one such temple in a sprawling, foliage covered courtyard that looked like a landing pad, or something that had been.

The structure before him would be a place to explore as best he can, and then he would move on across the Mara Corridor and tease Silver Jedi space. But he was in no rush, and always looking for places to plant his Dark Side influence that would help it spread outwards.

[member="Connor Harrison"] had been tailed by Mattias' men for a week now. But they weee under strict orders to observe and not engage. Did the Force User know that he was being followed? Probably. But that wasn't important to them. What was important was doing their job. It came with certain risks, but anything worth while always did.

Every man on the team knew the potential of it being a suicide mission. Force Users were not easy targets to bring in. Their illness gave some of them the ability to better predict another's actions. But they had their methods of securing targets. Some were unconventional, but then again, Force Users didn't have to be handled with civility.

~Is the target painted?~

~Affirmative. Multiple eyes await the order.~

A half dozen humans that made up the team were in position, each hiding in various levels that surrounded their target. A pair in the trees, a pair on the ground, and another pair situated on both corners of the Temple. They hardly moved, their radio communications all but silent as they awaited the order.

~Green Light Alpha, Amber for Bravo, Charlie's in the Red. Go!~

One of the members of Alpha, the ones on the ground, took his shot with his blaster rifle at Connor from his position 50 feet away, while his partner fired a razor net a second later.

Did they expect it to work? No. It was all a part of their plan. For the moment, they had the Force User surrounded.

Standing still, looking up at one of the old temples, he appeared to be pre-occupied.

In reality, he was mapping the parasites surrounding him. They didn’t know the lay of the land and made noises here and there, and the whine of faint electronic equipment stood out over the peace of nature. Looking up, he took himself away from the conscious body and allowed the Force to guide his body.

Where would the shot come from first?

As it cracked out, he turned and raised his left arm, the palm out and the blaster bolt sparking against the might of his cybernetic arm. With the other, his right, he pushed out with a burst of energy to send the razor net billowing up into the air as if a gust of wind took it and flapped it around the sky.

The heat and eminent trace of fear from the gun-man and his weapon stuck out, and Connor pulled him forward by the Force molecules surrounding him. The body fell forwards six or seven feet from the foliage onto the soft dirt ground and was pulled a further ten feet by Connor’s grip, until his head was simply pushed down into the ground which left little flesh still fixed it.

Connor turned his head and stepped back as another blaster bolt shot out.

Lifting his cybernetic arm, he hoisted it up and slammed it down into the soft ground with a balled fist and the enhancement of a burst of strength. The ground spat up and a shockwave rippled out from his core and moved outwards to the surrounding perimeter.

When would they ever learn to just leave him alone?

Force users were different kinds of targets, yet this one was stronger than the others that they had acquired in the past. [member="Connor Harrison"] was older and more highly trained. The two members of Charlie waited from their positions, watching in stunned silence as the razor net was thrown off it's course and blown away from them. The soldier from Alpha shouted as he was dragged across the ground; "Bravo! Charlie! G---" He couldn't get the rest of it out as the combination of rocks and dirt had torn his face too much.

The shockwave caught them all off guard as they left their positions to move closer. The remaining five knocked off their feet. Ignoring their downed comrade, they went on ahead with their next strategy. Both members of Charlie carried a Sonic Pistol. Both took a shot each, hoping to disorient their target while the remaining Alpha fired a couple of stun rounds.

In some ways eliminating a target was easier than capture. But that wasn't their objective. They couldn't deviate from their orders.

The sound of an energy blast rang out, that unmistakable whine through the air that spat up the ground it passed over coming towards Connor.

He ducked and rolled back, and a shot impacted into the ground beside him. Looking up, another energy blast swept over him and carried him backwards, lifting him off the ground and throwing him down a few feet away.

Then, his back stiffened up as a bolt hit. With a groan, he seized up and tried to counter the stun shot that played havoc with his muscles and lower nerves.

Connor knelt, fists clenched as figures came into view surrounding him.

He stayed still, tense, on his knees and waited for some explanation or someone to make a mistake as he took in the number of targets, where they were stood and what they were carrying.

They had [member="Connor Harrison"] down. Well, sort of. On his knees anyways. That wasn't enough however as the Sith could easily have tricks up his sleeves. They usually do.

Another blast from the sonic pistol was sent towards him, followed by another stun bolt. They didn't speak to their target. They hardly spoke at all. Only when there was a need to do so would they utter a few words to eachother. Instead they held their ground and waited to secure their target.

With one member of their team already deceased, they expected the body count to be even higher before their task was complete.
