To Save A Life [Josh, Leyan]

Jak Sandrow

"Nobody cares for the woods anymore."
"No, no no no no no..." Jak grimaced, keeping his hands pressed on Leyan's chest. The hyperspace alarm screamed, and he used the Force to flick the craft to autopilot, bringing them out of space with a jolt.

The insistent beep of an incoming comms transmission interrupted him further, and he winced as it meant leaving Leyan. "You have to keep your hands there," he told her gently, guiding her hands to the soaked bandage. "Just hold on, I will be right back..." Her delicate hands replaced his on her poultice, and he raced to the cabin, pulling on a pair of headphones.

"Freighter Nature Lover, please respond, over."

Jak hurried, "This is Nature Lover, go ahead."

"We need you to submit landing and docking procedures before allowing you to approach Voss," the operator informed him.

"Roger that, transmitting now."

After he had finished with the landing sequence, he switched to a hailing frequency. "This is the Nature Lover, calling the Jedi Temple on Voss..."

He felt with the Force, more than heard Leyan whimper faintly behind him. Please respond, someone... Anyone...

"Out of all the communicators you hit, you happen to hit mine" Was the answer.

The Jedi Master had been on Voss, delivering a report after time away somewhere far into the Outer Rim, dealing with slave issues, obviously. The Nature Lover landing here, and contacting the Jedi Temple? Boy, Jak must have been desperate. He was curious of what was going on, of course. But whenever Jak was around, it always seemed to mean trouble.

"I'll let them know you're a friend and have you granted clearance" He spoke. "You mentioned it's an emergency docking? I thought plants couldn't die or something like that?"

That was why he'd been cautious. What was this emergency?

It was cold... But it burned...
Leyan's chest was on fire. She couldn't stop squirming. It hurt so much...
Tears streamed down the sides of her face. Oh gods... She was dying... But why couldn't she just die already?
A wave of fire rippled through her system. She screamed.
