Tom Clancy's: The Division

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MGrnvx8NiE
Anyone here excited about this game, anyone planning on playing it?

I've already pre-ordered my copy and am looking for a group to play with seeing how it's up to 4 person co-op and then even two groups can potentially act together.

Let me know if you're interested in teaming up.

Played the Alpha.

On the Beta.

Will play non-stop on Xbox One.

I was going to post a similar thread as it drew closer - see if I could find more people involved in Chaos and get something going on The Division - make a crew, but didn't know if there would be an interest or not.

One thing people have griped about is the fact it starts in Midtown Manhattan and is there at launch, despite seeing Brooklyn and one of the other four boroughs of New York. They will no doubt be released in expansions but in the Alpha, we were given just a small, small, fraction of Midtown to play in and it took a long time to walk/run around the map.

I think people who have been critical of that particular piece need to really play it and see how big it is first.

This is what The Division is about, for those of you who don't know. A bit of a backstory. There is plenty of recent gameplay out there from a press conference/preview, go check it out.

Here is a good video of some beta footage recently released from that Press thing, it's also what we experienced in Alpha (A bit more was added obviously.) They removed the entire beginning of the game, which was nice. Character customization is rather extensive without being complicated - in the Beta they obviously kept it minimal. I love it.

I'm on PC, but I think it's cross-console so it shouldn't be that big of a deal (I just get a day less of the beta play) and those are some awesome vids Mira, thanks. And yeah, I don't get the people complaining either, maybe there's something really great in Brooklyn but I don't know New York that well. I've seen people talking about indicators that it may be included, but I'm actually thinking maybe end game stuff, like its the edge of the quarantine and the military pulled back to there when they abandoned the Dark Zone as they could defend the bridge.

I'd definitely enjoy playing it, but time is not on my side for the moment.

That trailer though...knowing the bits of history that I do, that song with that trailer definitely gave me the chills/feels.

So unless someone else can clearly explain/define differences and what the game is, I'm feeling like it's Tom Clancy's: Call of Duty

Case and Point, I play on PS4, and I don't have Gold. I play on PC, but I usually go for games like this on the console. I think it is all multiplayer, and since I don't have PS+, there won't be anything to do. Unfortunately, from my standing, doesn't seem like something I'll enjoy.

Edit: The story is very compelling.

This is what everyone is mad about.

This will likely be in an expansion/dlc. Lower Manhattan/Brooklyn which was shown in trailers and such at E3.

Maybe this will help?

Please understand that Character Customization and other things like Missions - It's beta, not the entire game. There will be ALOT more.

Alright, MMO RPG shooter, pretty hot.
Same team PVP betrayal at any time, pretty not.

Maybe something to get on PC at a later time.
The Rogue System is something that I was originally skeptical about as well - but can be fun.

Then again, stabbing people in the back can be fun to steal loot. Loot is also personal/public based. Say you get a sweet camo, that is personal and cannot be stolen by someone - public is like more armor or weapons.

I don't think you can go Rogue on your own group. You have to leave the group and then kill everyone, which would be the same in any type of PVP environment like that if they had an FFA type mode. Being a Rogue Hunter (Just something I call it.) When someone gets to a point where it's broadcast across the system they've become too rogue and needs to be taken out - people go hunting for them cause it's super xp and such.

Crazy and fun.

You know, this game actually looks very good despite the complaints. I like the high time to kill that has been given to enemies and the city, although downgraded compared to an older gameplay trailer I've seen not long ago (I think it was that first E3 trailer), looks great. To be honest, I don't really care that we don't get Manhattan first, seeing as the map seems so huge.

What I'm worried about, however, is the Rogue system. To me, this just smells like everybody will want to kill each other in the Dark Zone without actually using the system correctly.

I know what you're talking about concerning the graphics - I'm not convinced we've seen the full extent of it, I mean who would wanna throw everything at you in an Alpha or Beta?

I have not seen the changes they have implemented to the Rogue system since Alpha. I have been told though again it has not been confirmed - penalties are harsh for people who go Rogue frequently, are killed by non-Rogue agents, etc. Essentially, trollers and the like.

One of the major downfalls when I played Alpha and we just trolled at the end of it, for the hell of it of course was losing Dark Zone Experience. Which meant we couldn't buy those high end weapons. Now, they could have implemented a restriction system that just cause you own it, doesn't mean you can use it if you're under the set level cause you were a douche and trolled everyone.

Ya know?

The video you showed me said yes, you can go rogue on your squad, or stay friends. That aspect, can be abused. Not even for better gear/loot, just, idiotic children thinking they are better. Especially if you are trying to do something solo, because not everyone will want to be your best buddy and fight with you especially with the rogue system.

The Rogue system applies only in the Dark Zone. You don't have to step in it at all - you can play missions on higher difficulty and get excellent gear. The Dark Zone is well, I have a select few individuals that I trust to go in there with and that we banded together throughout the entire Alpha and plan on doing so throughout the Beta.

I saw more cooperative gameplay than I thought, I was honestly worried about the DZ being a place for trolls to thrive but it really wasn't. You're right, not everyone was your best buddy but when you go Rogue, you're a painted target. I get where you're coming from completely - believe me, I do but some of the coolest people I met in the DZ and we just wrecked the Rogue agents - and worked together.

Just depends I guess.

This would indeed force people to not be hostile towards anybody they ever cross path with, true. I'm happy to see that Ubisoft has actually foreseen this with the Dark Zone experience loss, at the least.

Indeed, I was not happy I was losing experience rapidly but I knew why - cause I was being an idiot in the Dark Zone and getting destroyed by people who were hunting Rogues. At the same time, I didn't care cause it was the end of Alpha.

You can play the entire game solo if you wish, it's just that I think most people find group play a bit more fun and the PVP Dark Zone is entirely optional. You just have a chance of getting better weapons and gear in there and maybe a boost to earned XP based on your performance. Going rogue incurs penalties, like broadcasting your location to everyone in the same instance as you, as well as enticing them to kill you with a higher XP/cash reward if they do. As far as I'm aware, you can't flip on your own squad (should have about the same amount of loot as them too since it's instanced) and you only lose gear that hasn't yet been 'extracted' during that run. Basically DZ loot is contaminated and is carried in a separate yellow bag under your pack. If you die what's in there is dropped and the other guy can then try getting it out on his own. However, you'll re-spawn nearby and can attempt to kill the rogue and get it back yourself.

That said, any pvp in any game will have people trying to troll or just be dicks. It comes with multiplayer, here it's optional and you're rewarded with better stuff for risking it and I like to think of it as the more interesting part of the game. Will people band together to face the more powerful NPC's or will they fight among themselves without the game or 'law' telling them to play nice? Har far are you willing to trust a stranger in a RWOL situation?
