OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The temple entrance, once a grand tomb, sat forgotten in an outcrop of rocks in the hills of Shogun. At one point, pillars, fires, would mark the entrance for the populace to come pay their respect to the fallen Mandalore, to offer him tidings and ask for his help. While most of these superstitious practices have fallen out of favor for the modern Mandalorian, the older, Old Republic era Mandalorians were very much intertwined with the idea of glory through war and honorable combat.
Mandalore the Unyielding, was such a man. A veteran of multiple conflicts, reportedly- a mercenary from the Inner Rim who grew to fame for his use of a axe, Mandalore the Unyielding rose to legend for supposedly defending a Concordian village from invaders, by himself. After his victory and defense, he was granted the title Unyielding by the survivors, and given a Beskar axe in which to solidify his claim as the strongest, wielding the mighty weapon.
Mandalore the Unyielding came after Mandalore the Binder, in the annals of Mandalorian history that has been lost to time and a period of 'dark ages'. The Unyielding felt that he was a stronger ruler than the sitting Mandalore, who's name is also lost to history- but the writings in ancient Mando'a point to the dethroned Mandalore being remarked as Mandalore the Inflamed, with the ancient artwork suggesting that the Unyielding burned him during the duel.
The Cavern that the temple was built into is narrow at the mouth, with carved stone steps etched with legends of the Unyieldings deeds, beginning with his birth in the Inner Rim- although, due to the wearing of the stone from time and the elements, it is impossible to tell what exactly the Unyielding was born. The last step ends with his passing, presumably in honorable combat due to each step representing roughly around five years of his life, and if the math is correct, the Unyielding was killed sometime in his late 40s.
