Sel stood opposite the old denizen of the light, her hands cupping her elbows, her hips canted to one side. It was a fair question, coming from someone out of the temple's many citizens she had only just met; that being no surprise, given their levels of activity and her at-times erratic visiting schedule. That he didn't put a name to her face wasn't unexpected either - calling attention to herself served no purpose and never had, for various reasons across her years, one being self preservation. Here on Corellia, it was skirting being put on some sort of pedestal for her efforts. Nothing good is ever easy.

“Corellia and her people are my work, Master Jedi. That includes children,” she stood straight, “though that it's younglings and the temple today is less a matter of work and more… shall we say, ‘personal'.”

Which could be anything or nothing, to a stranger.
He offered her a smile.

He had never had the pleasure of meeting the Jedi, however he admired the way she clearly cared for her planet. She was clearly Corellian, an undying loyalty to Corellia and her people. He watched her for a few moments, adjusting the sleeves of the robe that covered his tunic and trousers, the robe that dragged on the floor behind him slightly when he walked.

"Everyone has personal reasons for being here madam Jedi, especially in the current political climate that currently grips the planets. The temple is place where even the best of the Corellian Jedi can retreat and find solace amongst like minded people who all aim to achieve a greater understanding of the force. The day a Jedi ever sees his or her duty as work is that day that that specific Jedi fails his or her training"

He looked at her.

"I am indeed glad you remained. With everything occuring outside of these walls, it only seems fair that someone who clearly cares for these children as much as you do remains to keep them distracted while the more experienced Jedi attempt to keep Corellia together"

He run his hands through his hair. Corellia would be reborn, and they would flourish.

At his calling her 'madam Jedi', one corner of her lips curled upward. Perhaps this man didn't know many of the Jedi that roamed these halls at all, but it would stand to reason that such was the case, given that she had never seen him before, either. Not that she knew everyone, herself - Julius Sedaire had been her only real contact within the temple for quite a while, and with him gone, she had begun the slow process of getting to know others. It had been a salve for her minor hurts to extend her circle of acquaintance to other members of the temple, when both men - the master and the brother - had vanished without a word from her life.

"Spending time in a Jedi temple does not a Jedi make," she said, plain of tone; then, glancing sidelong to the study a moment, Sel set her gaze back on the much older Corellian before her, and let out a short sigh, her arms wrapping tighter around her, "but it does try the spirit."

A vague admission of that which she wrestled with, in her thoughts.

"Lady Selinica of House Cailis, daughter of the late Lord Fulton and Lady Alena Cailis," she pulled a hand out from the knot of her arms, and extended it to him, "Not-a-Jedi Master."

Both corners of her lips came up together in a cordial smile. Of course she cared for the children - her relationship with Lucien had been the closest she ever came to being a mother, but that was old history, best left buried in the past where it belonged.

He took the hand.

"Master Keiran Berus, completely a Jedi master"

He smiled to her. He couldn't figure her out, normally not a fan of those who claimed to be from money. She was clearly from money, born to a Lord and Lady that he assumed weren't of the Sith variety. She clearly cared about the children however, he could respect that so long as she kept her wealth and her duties to the temple seperate. There clearly hadn't been any major issues because she was still in the temple, caring for the children.

"A pleasure to make your aquantience, m'lady"

He flicked his eyes around the room.

"I wondered if I could pick your brain on the state of Corellia. Do you believe the move away from the Republic is a bad idea?"

Sel pursed her lips a moment.

"Honestly?" She started, "It isn't often a good idea to go down with a sinking ship, if that's what you're asking."

Blunt, yes, but what really could Corellia have done even if they wanted to remain? No-one really did. The name of 'Republic' still carried stigma, for some.

"Why?" She gestured to him, "Do you think it's a bad idea?"
