Tonor Dragir; Slicer, Information Broker, Coward
NAME: Tonor Dragir
FACTION: N/A
RANK: N/A
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 34
SEX: Male
HEIGHT: 5'6"
WEIGHT: 175 lbs.
EYES: Brown
HAIR: Lighter brown, thick but short.
SKIN: On the paler side of caucasian/white, though if that is due to genetics or the man's tendencies is up for debate.
FORCE SENSITIVE: No.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
Strengths:
1. Skeleton Key: Every bounty hunter has his best rifle, admiral his favourite star cruiser. Tonor has his Skeleton Key, a seemingly innocuous datapad capable of slicing most basic or common locking protocols in seconds. He's been around the block a few times and has programmed the device to save him time. Anything on the moderate end of military-grade will require him to put in the effort, though.
2. Silver Tongue: Tonor has had his fair share of run-ins with both the criminal aspects and law enforcement of the galaxy, both as a friend and a foe (sometimes both at the same time). Tonor has long since developed a silver tongue and enough charisma to get out of sticky situations, though his numerous exes would say otherwise.
3. Small Stature: Tonor is 5'6" of pure Axxilan spite. His small stature makes him as quick on his feet as his hand is on the draw, though the former is far more common than the latter.
4. Business Savvy: A man can only be screwed over so many times before he learns to smell out a poor deal. Tonor knows his way around negotiation and knows when he's being shafted... at least when it comes to his chosen profession.
5. Accomplished Slicer: Two decades in a trade oftentimes makes a man seem like he knows what he's doing, or so Tonor likes to believe. The usual small fry jobs he does don't need anything more than his Skeleton Key to crack, but if something higher on the spectrum of 'difficult shite' comes up, then Tonor has the skills to back up his bluster.
6. Born Analyst: Mama always said Tonor should work for the government, though this probably wasn't what she had in mind. There's more to slicing than just the means to break security, and Tonor's ability to sort and organize data is second only to droids.
Weaknesses:
1. Cowardly: Tonor may be quite the slicer, but he's a coward at heart. He'll avoid confrontations whenever possible, even if it means abandoning his allies.
2. Small Stature: Tonor is fast on his feat and weak in his punch. His size means he isn't very intimidating or physically capable, and far more susceptible to death via blast bolts.
3. Fickle: Tonor prefers staying alive far more than dying, as is expected of an organic. He'll sell out his allies if it means living another day, not that he has to be happy about it.
4. Legally Negligent: Tonor lives by the idea that laws are more a collection of guidelines than actual rules. The legality of his many jobs could be best described as 'not even slightly legal'.
5. Small Timer: There is an age-old adage that goes 'a big fish in a small pond' to describe someone a little too full of themselves and think they deserve more. That isn't Tonor, he's a moderately sized fish in a small pond, and damn content with it. His ability under the pressure of galactic-scale war is unknown, though the idea of such a pressure makes up many of his worst nightmares.
APPEARANCE:
Tonor can be most aptly described as one of the most boring men in the galaxy, at least by his appearance. His skin is pale, even for an Axxilan, though if this is due to his genetics or the man's proclivities is up for debate. Even Tonor's eyes and hair are as plain as they can be, both brown and tame. Tonor bears no noticeable scars, though he claims to have been stabbed by an especially bitter criminal, or any physical abnormalities deviating from standard humans from Axxila. His is 5'8", or 5'9" in his full kit.
His chosen suit is fairly inauspicious as compared to what is expected in the modern galaxy. Light, breathable fibre armour over an equally grey body glove makes up the majority of his protection if one discounted his helmet, of course. His head is completely enclosed in a similarly grey helmet, a green visor obscuring Tonor's eyes while displaying a minimalistic heads-up-display for him. His utility belt is filled with a number of tools, from torches to wire cutters and everything in-between. On his left hip sits a sachel holding his fondly named 'Skeleton Key', protected by a thin sheet of metal on the front and sides in the event Tonor finds himself in a fight he can't outrun. On his opposite hip is his old DL-18 blaster pistol, a weapon nearly twenty times solder than he was despite not looking a day of it.
BIOGRAPHY:
Tonor's beginning, much like the rest of his life, was not one of great heroism or darkness. He was born to a middle-income family in the ecumenopolis of Axxila. His father was a governmental clerk pushing paper for the Sith Empire as a low-level employee. Even as was came and went, his livelihood was never threatened due to the low-priority of his position. Tonor's mother was a stay-at-home wife, though formerly worked at the same department as his father. The middle child of three, Tonor's life was normal as it could be.
In his early life, Tonor did well in school, showing especially high aptitude in any classes focused on technology and its applications. Often times, after classes ended and dispersed, Tonor would attempt to bypass the security codes on computers and datapads to continue working or playing, depending on the day. Often times, he was caught and reprimanded, but his grades combined with his inoffensive, likeable nature allowed him to avoid more standing punishments. In time, Tonor learned the inner workings of his primary school's security programs and easily bypassed them. His fellow students, upon catching wind of Tonor's amplitude, began offering credits to the young slicer-to-be in return for cracking their own datapads or computers. Tonor got his first taste of slicing's profitability, but it would not be his last.
As he grew older, Tonor began taking interest in girls, as a boy of his age does. However, his middling looks and inoffensive personality did little to attract the attention of the opposite sex. So, he did perhaps the most foolish thing a young man of his average skill could and sliced the school records to impress a girl. To both his and her surprise, he succeeded and didn't get caught. At her prodding, Tonor changed her grades so as to see her passing that semester. Though that relationship, one-sided though it might have been, was shortlived (and Tonor would get caught at a later date and suspended for his infraction), Tonor's skill continued to grow.
Tonor, after leaving secondary school, started a brief career in the same Department as his father, working under his old man as an assistant clerk. Though the work was at least mildly interesting to him, the insulting simplistic defensive programs utilized by the department eventually drew his attention. Tonor, over the period of a couple of weeks, managed to unknowingly, systematically, tear down the entire security net of the department and nearly cause a massive breach in information. Upon being called to his supervisor's office, Tonor's was thanked for his efforts in uncovering how poorly designed the security network for the Department was and that his actions would ensure the department's redevelopment and orientation in future to ensure such a breach would not be possible in future. He was then subsequently fired for tearing down the security net and nearly getting the Sith Empire security bureau or organisation therein sniffing around.
Tonor continued to do odd-jobs on the security side, developing his skills more through trial and error than any professional teaching. Over the period of a decade, Tonor went from untrained halfwit to untrained two-thirds wit with a clever but bafflingly designed Skeleton Key.
Much like the Adeptus Mechanicus of another universe, Tonor could not explain in any comprehensible way how his Skeleton Key works, mostly because he can barely understand how it works anymore. The complicated modifications and tinkering on what was formerly a plain datapad eventually saw it turn into an advanced code-cracking machine. Tonor, never one to look a gift nerf in the mouth, accepts that his Skeleton Key is an anomaly and refuses to dismantle the intricate and overcomplicated code in the fear that he permanently break something.
Tonor's later years served as a textbook example of a petty criminal getting by off his hard work and moderate skill. Balancing work with both the Axxilan government and the criminal underground ensures that Tonor is both the enemy and friend of both and so keeping his at least moderately safe. At least, that was the case. Tonor, in a grand display of either bravery or stupidity, attempted to slice into the security of the local Moff's headquarters. For what reason is a mystery, perhaps even to the slicer himself, but the reprisal he faced was more than either the criminal underground or police forces were willing to brush under the rug. So, Tonor did the only logical thing a man in his position could do, and left Axxila as fast as his ship, the Inexorable, could take him.
So ends, or perhaps begins, the story of Tonor's life. Left without a direction, on the tale end of his youth, and completely lacking funds or connections thanks to a frankly stupid idea, Tonor enters a pond far too large for him with nothing more than a beat-up freighter and an even older blaster.
SHIP:
The Inexorable, a Barloz-class freighter with a far cooler name than a ship of its type deserves. The Inexorable is modified from the basic Barloz framework with a more powerful engine, shielding, and a pair of twin-linked laser cannons on the top and bottom of the ship. Unfortunately, the laser cannons require something called a 'crew', which Tonor lacks. barring that, Tonor can rely on bow-facing torpedo ports, through which he can fire, you guessed it, torpedos. Not that the Inexorable would ever be in a position where it was chasing another ship and could fire the torpedoes with any degree of accuracy. Barring those differences, the rest of the Inexorable is as plain as plain can be, much like it owner. Only turret bubbles have been added to the holding bay, two of them even lacking seats for the gunners. They say a ship represents its owner, and that remains true with Tonor: ageing, but reliable.
