Sebastian counted the passing seconds. They amounted to days and like every motion he analysed, took the form of an equation. A verbose set spanning pages within his mind, compounded as he wrote at his desk in the bowels of the massive facility. He could hear shuttles take off outside and rain trickled in from holes, blown away by raids of the Black Sun syndicate, who threatened control of the area.

"Thel, you're needed on level thirty-five." A gruff voice called from the doorway. Waving a hand over his shoulder, he assumed the guard marched away before noticing Sebastian's dismissal. He arched his neck and stretched his wrist, which had cramped from writing for hours. A mug of coffee sat by the side of his notebook, which he sipped eagerly, before finishing the sheet of code. The clock ticked and alerted him to his change of station.

Footsteps raced in the corridors below. Sebastian tried to listen beneath the surge of star craft from outside. He cocked his head curiously and retreated to the adjoining bedroom. Steel walls, dented with blast holes stood above a thin bed. Closing the door behind him, he swapped his long coat and lace up shoes for a black T-shirt, khaki military britches and combat boots. He grabbed his notes, slicing kit and made his way down the hall.

Deserted corridors of murky steel, thick with the smell of machine fuel and smoke twisted and turned in an industrial labyrinth. Suddenly, the sound of blastfire echoed from the other side of the factory and Sebastian stopped in his tracks. He decided that the sound was probably further away than it seemed and pressed onward to the elevator.

Work in a computer programming facility on the edge of a gang war proved rife in solitude. Sebastian did not mind. He was only thankful he was not bound to some pious force order.

The elevator beeped with every passing level. At level thirty-three, the doors parted and revealed steel soaked with blood and charred bodies littering the corridor. Two men with heavy assault guns approached the doors and Sebastian planted his back against the wall. The Black Sun was taking control of the facility and Sebastian was caught in the midst. He felt his hands quiver by his side as one of the gangsters pointed a barrel beneath his chin.

"You, can you slice?" One of the huge men threatened. Unable to speak, Sebastian clamped his lips together and nodded his head.

"Where are you headed?" The man asked. He stood behind Sebastian and gripped his shoulders. Feeling the barrel of the blaster move the strands on his head, he stammered and tried to force out the words.

"Thh-h-irty five!" Sebastian's voice was small. The men nodded to each other and the door closed. They traveled to level thirty five, where the data board awaited programming. The Black Sun had cleared out the guards, and some of their own had been killed, by whom Sebastian did not know. A man he did not recognize from the factory moved by a doorway and a presence radiated from him. Sebastian felt the force and his own instincts were awakened.

"Keep moving!" The gangster shoved the barrel into Sebastian's back and forced him into the room.

Before the man could give any more orders, the Force user strode into the doorway and faced them. They turned their attention away from Sebastian and stared him down. While they were distracted, he made his move and sent forward a powerful push, knocking them both over. He scampered beneath the data board and lay on his back, where he immediately began to wipe the system and avoid the Black Sun acquiring any of the facility's innermost computing secrets.

Djonas had arrived just outside the facility he had marked on his radar for a bit of corporate warfare. Whoever hired him really wanted the info stored within because they paid him up front and in full. He couldn't deny them after such a fat paycheck. From inside Gold Digger, he looked over an hologram of the interior of the facility, taking notes on each corridor and security emplacements within. For him, it would be an easy hit. Nothing out of the ordinary for someone of his background. That's why they hired him. He was quick and effective. Always got results.

It was a relatively quiet ride to the facility. Rain tapped on the airspeeder as the autopilot guided Djonas to his objective. Then, blaster fire began to hit the bottom of the airspeeder, rocking it harshly. "What in the.." Djonas quickly deactivated the autopilot and took hold of the steering himself. "Who is shooting at my ride? Who gotta death wish? I swear if any of those scorch marks mess up my paint..." Djonas took evasive maneuvers, ripping his airspeeder through the air, easily dodging the fire coming his way. He managed to get an eye on who was shooting at him. Some folk down below, about 5 of them, with blasters. "No way this place's security is this paranoid. I ain't done nothing to them. Something is wrong.."

Djonas brought his airspeeder to the ground with the security still firing at him. From his waist, he grabbed is lightsaber, holding his finger on the button to be pressed when he was ready. "Game time." The roof of the Gold Digger lifted open, allowing Djonas to jump from the airspeeder to an incredible height. From above, he activated his lightsaber and threw it down at the group shooting at him. The blade easily pierced the chest of one of the individuals, killing them instantly. While the rest were shocked by the death of the comrade, Djonas came down on the rest. His landing was cushioned by the Force while also sending out a wave of energy, causing the rest of the security to fly away from the landing zone at body breaking speeds.

The scene was quiet then. Djonas retrieved his lightsaber from the dead security guard. "Wait a minute." Djonas looked over the dead guard after noticing something odd about his armor. "This ain't security. Could it be.." Djonas quickly rushed into the building and headed for the elevator. He looked up at the indicator for the elevator. "Floor 35, eh?" Djonas pulled apart the elevator doors and looked up the towering elevator shaft. "Going up." Djonas grabbed hold of a cable and began pulling himself up. The Force made it easier on his arms as he heaved himself all the way up to the bottom of the elevator resting at the 35th floor. Djonas pulled open the doors of the 34th floor and moved for the stairs. Several more mercenaries stood in his way, all slain by his lightsaber. Once he was on the 35th, he could here blaster fire down the corridor. Who was fighting, was unknown to him. He figured the building's security was still putting up a fight against the attackers. They were all obstacles he would have to cut through to get the data he needed. Once the gunfire died down, he moved in, slaughtering the rest of the mercenaries. "What a waste of my time.." Djonas looked over the bodies to get some kind of idea of who might have been behind this, but found nothing. He shrugged it off and began the data siphoning process.

Ding.

The sound of the elevator reaching his floor echoed through the corridor and to the room Djonas was in. "Damn, more company." He quickly hid himself from sight within a broom closet, awaiting to launch a surprise attack on whoever was coming. He peeked from the closet, watching three men moving into the room. He thought about how he should have hidden the bodies. Too late for that now. He exited the closet and stepped to the doorway. "Y'all are in my way." Djonas' lightsaber ignited with the press of a button. Two of the men came at Djonas and he quickly gutted them, sending his lightsaber through their cores with ease. Their bodies hit the ground with a heavy thud and Djonas looked around for the other one. "I don't know who you guys are or who hired you, but this is my job. I got paid already so I'm getting it done. So, if you surrender now, I will let you leave unharmed. Well, mostly unharmed."

From beneath the data board, Sebastian heard the sound of a lightsaber ignite. As he keyed numbers into the terminal, panic set in and he squirmed in the tight space. He listened to the nameless Force user threaten the gangsters, before slicing through each body with his saber.

The seconds passed with every number he keyed into the terminal, steadily wiping the stored information from the company's system. Green code ran down before his eyes as the numbers repeated in his head. Sebastian mouthed lightly, muttering the code to himself as he typed. When he penetrated the core of the system, he began the process of erasing the memory and deleting every bit of stored data.

With the process complete, he hit the final key and he terminal crashed into a dismal abyss. Blast fire rang overhead and Sebastian squirmed out from beneath the data board. He stood against the wall and watched the carnage unfold from the other side of the room. His eyes locked with the gaze of the Force user slaying the members of the Black Sun.

"I...!" He started, the final words refused to leave his mouth. "I'm not with them!" Sebastian finally said.

One of the soldiers aimed their blaster towards and fearing for his life, Sebastian raised his hands and released a surge of power between them, knocking the man against the wall. Without a thought, Sebastian grabbed the blaster from his hands and planted his back against the wall. When he lunged forward, Sebastian aimed the blaster. Unable to take the man's life, he shifted his hand and fired the shot directly into the wall.

The soldier lunged forward and Sebastian retreated in panic. Sweat dripped between his palm and blaster, causing him to release his grip and let the gun crash to the floor. As the man leaped to grab the blaster, Sebastian extended his hand and pushed him through the Force into the lifeless data board, sending him crashing into the machinery. His eyes locked with those of the Force user slaying the members of the Black Sun as he kept his place behind the data board.

"Who are you?" Sebastian stammered as he backed away. He planted his back against the wall on the other side of the data board and clutched his hands at his chest. The Force user continued to slice down members of the gang, while marching footsteps sounded down the hall, alerting them both to the arrival of more company.

Djonas could hear the approaching footsteps from afar, prompting him to have to think quickly. "That's none of your business, kid." Djonas didn't have many options. He was in such an enclosed space with a great number of shooters coming his way. He dug deep into his repertoire to get an idea on how he'd make it out of there alive. "Don't move."

The footsteps grew louder with each passing moment until they could be heard just outside the door. Before the shooters could even make a move into the room, Djonas stepped into the hall way and called upon the powers of the Force in the best way he knew how. In almost an instant, flames spontaneously erupted from his palms and flew towards the shooters, engulfing them in scorching flames. Djonas held this up until the last of the shooters dropped and stopped squirming and screaming in pain and agony.

"One day, people will learn to not get in my way." Djonas looked around the bodies to ensure they were all dead before returning to the room. "Who the hell are you? You ain't with them so why are you here? I want answers, kid."

"That's none of your business, kid." The dark Force-user threatened.

From the other side of the data board, Sebastian remained standing against the wall. He brought his hands to chest and fumbled with his fingers as his panic increased. Then, he cocked his head to one side and began to think. This man be able to get him out of the facility alive. Sebastian needed to know if he could trust him.

"Well, actually it is some of my business, since you could very well harm me and I'd at least like to know if you intend to do just that." He said in a soft, thoughtful voice. He may have been scared, he was not submissive.

The thud of foots echoed from outside of the corridor and Sebastian froze like a rabbit facing a predator. As more soldiers emerged, his mouth opened in horror as he watched the man engulf them in flames. They burned alive before his eyes, shrieking in agony and writhing until their flesh burnt off their bone. Sebastian planted his hands on his ears to drown out the horrible sound.

Whoever this vagabond was, he was powerful and Sebastian could not ever imagine himself wielding that kind of power, nor did he have any desire to do so.

"I just work here!" Sebastian begged. "I program the computer system!" His head began to shake as he pleaded his innocence, only hoping that he could make it out alive so he could complete his studies at university.

"You.." He stammered, pointing to the smoldering corpses on the ground. "You can use the Force!" He wondered if the man could sense his presence, or had he noticed him pushing over the soldier earlier on.

Djonas scoffed at the boy. "Yeah, what of it?" he asked mockingly. "Wait a minute. You're not the one asking here. I am. Now, tell me who these guys were and what they were doing here." The bodies were unrecognizable after Djonas burned them to a crisp and the ones he didn't have to use his pyrokinesis on had no distinguishing makrs on them to show who they were.

"You tell me and I won't have to hurt you. Resist and I'll turn to other methods of makin' you talk. Understood?"

"I've never seen anything like that..." The last word trailed off Sebastian's tone as he answered Djonas' first question. He did not know if the outlaw intended to receive an answer.

The Force was esoteric to Sebastian and encompassed a world he did not know anything about. Force-users, their powers and their ability to sense things before they happened (without any calculations!) scared him to say the least. He was immersed in technology and things which made numerical sense, not some otherworldly energy field which drew on the emotions he wanted nothing to do with.

The fierce man snapped back before Sebastian could continue speaking. He froze like a rabbit with a gun pointed to it's head, hands shaking as he raised them to his rest. Regretting his sassy retort from earlier, he knew he was at this man's mercy and would have to cooperate to save his own life.

"They're soldiers from the Black Sun, the gang has been threatening to raid this facility for weeks." Sebastian stammered, fiddling with the goggles hanging around his neck. "They were after the information stored in this data board, but I erased it." Shrugging, he gestured towards the board. "I don't actually know what the information was, but I was under orders to wipe the system should the facility fall under attack." He explained and ran a hand through his dark brown hair, making the strands even more disheveled.

"There are other terminals containing company data throughout the facility." Sebastian looked around with a wary shift in his eye. "The gang will be taking slicers and analysts hostage right now..." He became worried that he was not the only one under the threat of the raid.
