It was the aftermatch of another great match. In the press box, Arex Adama turned to his broadcast partner Mori Otani Kane and chuckled.

"Awesome match, Mori. Wow. What can we expect from the next one?"

"Fireworks, Arex. We've got two top notch competitors going head to head." As Kane spoke, highlight/promo packages played on the screen for both competitors. "Vaet, think along the lines of a young Yoda. Plenty of power, plenty of talent, plenty of exciting moves. Sabena Shai is a real tough chick, with battlefield experience. She'll have that composure that other young fighters lack."

"Sounds like a real recipe for a great match, Mori. Now to our host."

The coverage cut to the arena, which was a large circle that was about eighty metres in diameter. The audience were protected by large bubble shields, which would hopefully keep out most of the flying projectiles. In the centre stood Na'Varro, pacing the arena with composure.

"Ladies and gentlemen, HERE WE GO! For the third tournament match, fighting out of Sullust, Vaet!" The audience cheered for the little green dude. "In the opposite corner, it's Republic Jedi Knight Sabena Shai!" Republic Jedi were still popular on Sullust.

Alen was looking forward to this.

"Begin!"

Match continues for one week or until a decisive outcome is reached. Good luck!

After the qualifiers, Sabena secured a spot among the eight finalists. As soon as the bracket was posted, she rushed to see it. She read the name of her opponent. An unfamiliar one. Her eyes were then drawn to the opposite side of the bracket - to Aela Talith. The only way for the two to meet in the tournament would be in the finals.

Wasting no time though, Sabena then began to prepare herself against her opponent. She had to make some sort of plan that would work against an unknown person - having never heard of or seen [member="Vaet"] fight before. She had no chance to see many of the other finalist’s previous fights and highlights.

As her name was called out, Sabena gave a wave to the crowd with a vibrant smile on her face. She wore a typical Jedi tunic. A lot of equipment she would normally keep on her utility belt was missing.

Yet most prominently among the gadgets she wore were three lightsaber hilts - one on her left hip, two on her right. The one of her left hip was gray and smooth - having neither adjustment dials or an activation switch on the outside.

One of the lightsabers on her right hip sported a light gray, circular crossguard near the emitter. It also had a fairly low profile, yet the activation switch and adjustment dials were visible near the pommel.

The last of the three lightsabers had dark, almost black metal. The lightsaber sported sharp, angular features - a few prongs as well. Not a typical design for a Jedi’s lightsaber.

The rest of the items on Sabena’s belt were contained in pouches - hiding their contents. She had a total of four leather pouches waiting to be opened.

Once [member="Alen Na'Varro"] began to speak, Sabena stopped the waving and gave [member="Vaet"] her full attention. She gave a bow to Vaet from the other side of the arena.

Then, Alen gave the signal to begin.

May the Force be with you,” Sabena told Vaet in a gesture of good luck.

Immediately, Sabena snapped her right hand out with her palm open. The featureless lightsaber hilt on her left hip snapped off her left and flew straight into her hand. She grasped the lightsaber tightly and pointed the emitter to her right. A click from within the lightsaber could be heard. A green, plasma blade instantly followed.

Sabena then slowly twirled her left index finger counter-clockwise. The hum of her lightsaber lowered in pitch. The blade’s strength was tuned down to a non-lethal level just as a training saber - sufficient enough to cause painful burns while sparing limbs.

A short figure revealed itself from the great doors that separated the holding rooms from the actual arena. The figure wasn’t waving, smiling or anything that showed that he was relishing or even just enjoying his current spot in the… spotlight.

Green eyes calmly studied the scenery, the people that were enjoying themselves and expressing it by shouting very, very loudly, the announcer who seemed more a general at home on the battlefield and finally his opponent for the day.

She was young, but he reserved his judgement for other things considering his own relative age. Not quite as young in human years, but to the standard of his own people he was still a blooming youngster.

Vaet wore a simple robe with a single unadorned lightsaber shoto attached to his belt - it was the only lightsaber he could use without fear of poking his own eye out, the sad truth of his own height.

And with you, Knight Shai.” he simply replied with a short bow, before his own lightsaber flew into his hand.

Of course he followed suit, igniting a silver beam and tuning down the intensity to avoid serious bodily harm. But Vaet did not take the first step to attack, instead he patiently studied Shai and awaited her first real move - whatever he was, he would not take the first step to attack.

Not even in a competition.

Hmm,” sighed Sabena as she eyed [member="Vaet"]’s lightsaber.

In response to Vaet’s inaction, Sabena slowly approached her opponent. The tapping sound of her feet seemed soft despite the hard surface of the floor. Her lightsaber remained low - just about hip height - and pointed to the side. Sabena kept a slight smile on her face.

You a Jedi as well?” asked Sabena mid-step in an upbeat tone. She was over 20 meters away when she asked.

Vaet did not technically approach, did not retreat, instead… he simply started to circle to the right - his right, which was her left. It was a silent pace, a soft pace and there was direction and purpose in it: left foot over right foot, rinse repeat. While moving he did not remove his eyes from a figure, trying to note every little detail at once, even the slightest muscle movement could spell a sudden leap or lunge.

But perhaps he was going to much into warfare-mode already.

A Jedi? Perhaps.” the Vaetling responded. “Why do you fight?

Roughly a meter was shaved of the twenty through the circular movement. Nineteen more remained.
