Toys In The Attic

There were a few reasons for Jairdain to be on Voss again. She kept her presence and alignment hidden and secret. Maybe it was a good thing she had spent some time as a sith. For without the training provided by them, she would not have been able to do this. A home had been built on this world now held by the Sith when the Silvers were still there.

Not one to live at the temple, her home was separate from that location and she returned to it. This was not a good moment for the woman and while she didn't want to be noticed by the sith, she hid among their number. Thankfully her home was not noticed when they came here and still stood in the forest where it had been built.

A sense of peace was here for her and she opened her door to walk in. Going about cleaning the dust off what belongings she had left behind, Jairdain hoped to have the opportunity to stay here for a while.

Peace, was as always, a lie the weak took comfort in. The weak and the foolish. Darth Ferus was a firm believer in this truth, so much so that he had trained and convertered so many to the cause. There was one, however, he had failed to truly convert. One who had brought him back from the dead.

"Ah, hello."

Ferus hadn't expected to find the very person he was thinking about in her abandoned home. The Force had whispers of something here, and the Sith was rather pleased to find it more than a passing echo.

He stepped into the building with his hands clasped behind his back and his black cloak loose on his shoulders. A smile formed as he laid eyes upon the female. A truly kind smile.

"How are you my dear?"

The approach of him was unnoticed by her and when he came into her house, she was quite surprised. Their last encounter had been when he had to rescue her from the clutches of Vanessa and prior to that they had been on Iridonia and travelled together there for a time. Drawing in a breath, Jairdain looked at him fiercely through the Force, but not with any hostility.

She wasn't going to lie to him, he would probably be able to see through it anyway. Setting down the item she held in her hands, she stood facing him.

"Horrible. And you?"

Whether his smile was kind or not, she was in a way pleased to see him. Another part of her cowered.

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"Fine, I suppose. As fine as a man returned from death could be." The Sith continued to smile and took the time to glance about the home. It was the first time he had been inside in person. It seemed fitting for the woman he assumed [member="Jairdain"] was.

"What brings you here of all places? Fancy a visit to memories? Or did you feel the whisper I had?"

It was thanks to her that he was standing in her home. The home was simple and the most important items had already been removed when she had moved to Commenor. Small trinkets and some furniture remained behind. Very little to speak of the woman that had lived here.

"A need to get away brought me here. Life...has been trying. Are you sure I wasn't the whisper that brought you here?"

She took a seat on the dusty couch and offered him a spot near to her.

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"I wouldn't be surprised. We have quite the connection after all." Ferus mused aloud. He quickly took up her offer, plopping down unceremoniously as a cloud of dust spread around them. "You should probably fire the house cleaner." The Sith snickered at his little joke as he settled into the couch. "They've been neglecting."

Still, it was odd the Force would send him her way again after all this time. Looking her over he could plainly see the stress that hovered above her head. "Not easy having responsibilities." Ferus muttered to himself.

"I think I will. Jairdain you're fired."

The joke having been shared she actually sensed some sympathy from him. A person who five years ago she thought of as her enemy was now almost a close friend. Ideals aside, neither one had fought or argued. Their conversations and her conversion had been interesting to say the least. When she had brought him back, it had connected them and it had remained.

After they had parted when he rescued her, her life had pretty much returned to normal. Until recently when it went into an upheaval happened. That was what brought her here.

"You can say that again. What have you been up to?"

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"Being King. I figured I neglected Iridonia enough after all." For the past several months he had been serving as his title proclaimed, as king. Setting up a formal military, uniting his people, setting up Sith temples, shipyards, housing. It had been a busy time, but soon Iridonia will show her fangs to the galaxy once again.

"It was, admittedly, draining. I figured I'd let the whispers in the Force take me where they will again, and now I've found you."

He had gifted her land on Iridonia as king. It was nice to know he had started to take an interest in his people.

"For so long your guidance there was lacking. I lived there, I should know. Thank you."

Why she said that was lost even on her. This conversation might prove enlighening.

"My responsibility didn't reach quite that high and now it is missing."

The prince was missing from Commenor and hence her purpose being there was gone.

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"Ah right. The Commenor Prince. Never had the pleasure, but I hear you were quite the advisor, no? A shame. I could have used the two of you to solidify my interest there." No point in lying about the reason behind his interest. Given the chance he would use [member="Jairdain"] and anyone else to further his goals.

"Perhaps it's time for a change then." Ferus grinned wide, gazing her over again. "I could use you."

"Yes, advisor to the crown prince. Had a run in with somebody and later killed him. Not the prince, but a shard of Lykos."

Granted it had been done at his request, but Jairdain had essentially killed him in cold blood.

"It was in the interest of the Sith for Commenor to fall and they accomplished their goal. Yet here I am hiding within your empire's holdings."

He mentioned he had a use for her and if he could feel her gaze, it would feel like she was narrowing her eyes at him.

"Use me for what...?"

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"A partnership. Someone who was once a royal advisor is pretty short in supply. I could use someone by my side while I rebuild my peoples empire. Someone I can trust." Ferus paused for a moment and snickered.

"Mostly trust. What do ya say Jairdain, up for being by my side again?" He held out his hand, smiling wide.

What he asked was a great temptation to her. However, Jairdain did not actually feel his offer was as simple as he made it out to be. With Krest it never was.

"You no longer wish to use me your little Dread Master?"

She had put that part of her life in the past and left it there. Jairdain would not be his pawn again. However, he might sense his offer was being considered. Her answer greatly depended on how he answered her question.

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"Nah. Its much easier if you have free will. No need to waste my time spying on you and wondering when you'll betray me and such." Ferus kept his hand outstretched, smiling all the while. "I'll make a proper Sith out of you yet, though that'll be your choice in the long run. For now, I could use an advisor to keep me somewhat in check."

[member="Jairdain"]

"Thank you for the vote confidence. You know I would never betray you."

And that was true. Not intentionally at least. No matter what he had done to her and put her through, Jairdain did not want to see him dead. It might be something crazy, but nobody ever said she was always in the right mind.

"There are ways to keep you in check even if I'm not your advisor."

However, his hand was still extended to her. Of its own accord, she raised hers to touch his fingertips only.

"Let me think on it, Lord Ferus. Yes I know of the name change from when I knew you originally. I won't say yes or no today. However, something was started on Iridonia that was never finished. Do you wish to continue to pursue that?"

[member="Darth Ferus"]

"Oh? And what was it that started?" Ferus snickered a bit, slowly wrapping his fingers around hers as if to seal the deal despite her asking for time to think on it. "You brought me back to life, we traveled around my city a bit, ate some food." A date, more or less. He gave no answer to [member="Jairdain"] , though he did continue to smile. "Do you wish to continue?"

She did not pull away as he wrapped his fingers around hers. In fact, she took that as an answer to her question. It was a risk, but she had kept the door open after he had arrived. It was obvious he didn't want to leave and she wasn't about to give any ground either.

Having to really give some thought on her answer, Jairdain did eventually nod her head.

"I do."
