Training on Alderaan

Ravi Savak

Inactive Character
Ravi smiled as he watched the beautiful planet of Alderaan get larger through the viewport in his room. He stood on a small stool so that he could see out the window, watching the planet as his father's small freighter descended through the atmosphere and down on to the planet. He'd never been on Alderaan before, and he was extremely excited. Not only was he getting to visit a planet he'd never been to before, he was going to meet a new person! Someone, his dad said, that would train him! He hadn't said in what.... Ravi just hoped it wasn't blaster shooting, or something. Last time he tried to shoot a blaster he burned half the fur off his arm... He was sure it would be better this time, though.

The young Squib jumped off his stool as the freighter landed on the planet's surface with a shaking rumble. They had landed! Not even waiting for his father, Ravi ran straight to the ramp, and stood on his toes to reach the control panel. After flicking the switch that open's the ramp, Ravi ran outside. They'd landed in the middle of a forest! Well, the middle of a clearing, anyway. Tall pines surrounded the large clearing, dwarfing the ship that landed near them. Ravi looked eagerly around the clearing, waiting for his trainer, while his father watched from the ship's ramp.

[member="Daichi"]

Daichi kept to the treeline, a small smile on his face. Alderaan was the home of the Grey, an order of those who were neither Sith or Jedi, and would teach any who wanted to learn. [member="Ravi Savak"] was one such fellow, a boy who wanted to become stronger. Or perhaps it was his father who wanted it? After all, it was his father who had contacted Daichi. He had no idea what a Squib was though, so he stood waiting at the edge of the clearing.

His gaze turned upwards as the ship came into view. He heard it first, over the trees, but it wasn't long after that it came into view. They were here. He moved into the open, slipping his hands into his pockets as the ship descended. It wasn't until the ramp opened and the by ran out did he move. He waved to both he and his father, calling out. "Yo! So this is the little one eh? Alright!"

Ravi glanced behind him, to his Shistavanen father, who nodded assuringly. So this was the trainer! The young Squib turned to [member="Daichi"] with a wide smile, looking to the man several feet taller then he was. He did know who he was, but his father trusted him, so he was sure that he was alright. The Squib waved back to the man, and shouted across the clearing.

"Hello! My names Ravi!"

He smiled, and looked over the new trainer. Ravi didn't notice any blasters on him, so that meant they probably weren't going to teach him how to shoot... that was a relief. He'd just grown the fur back on his arm! No beskad either, so he probably wasn't going to try and teach him that... Ravi tilted his head to the side as he watched Daichi, wondering what this trainer was going to teach him. He just hoped it would be fun.

Daichi crouched down, looking [member="Ravi Savak"] over. He had two blasters on his person, one on his hip and another holstered on his chest, but it was true. He was not going to be teaching him any shooting today. He waved a hand once more before speaking, his voice soft.

"Welcome to Alderaan then Ravi. I'll be showing you the Temple of the Grey actually. But first, do you know what the Force is?"

Ravi's smile faltered slightly as [member="Daichi"] spoke. Order of the Grey? The Force? Ravi had no idea what he was talking about... Which, was most likely easy to tell by the Squib's puzzled expression. So, the Squib shook his head, glancing back at his father out of the corner of his eye, to find anyh int of what's gonig on. When none was given, he turned his full attention back on Daichi.

Daichi nodded once, then held a hand out to the side. He reached out, the Force abiding to his call as he willed it. A rock, about the size of [member="Ravi Savak"] , would find itself the target, slowly being lifted into the air. He would bring it over, setting it just before the Squib onto the ground. With a smile he would speak again, his voice almost sing song.

"The Force is all around us. You are one who can manipulate this, one who, with enough training, who will be able to do what you will with the Force. Does this interest you child?"

Ravi just about peed himself when a large rock suddenly flew into the air, and landed a few inches in front of him. He stumbled backwards, and tripped over his boot, sending himself sprawled down at the ground, staring at the rock.

"Wh- Yo- You..." Ravi looked up at Daichi with wide eyes. "You mean... I can do..." He stared at the boulder, then back to [member="Daichi"].
"I... I can do that?"

[[OOC: I posted this awhile ago, and just realized that the tag didnt work! So i'm retagging you. [ ]]

(Sorry about that! Got busy with work x.x)

Daichi shrugged, looking from [member="Ravi Savak"] to his father. "I think so. If that's what he meant at least. Care to find out?" The man moved to the rock, sitting a top it cross legged. There was a a big grin on his face from the boys initial reaction. Man did he love teaching new people.

"I want you to close your eyes. Just feel the area around you. I know it sounds weird, but meditation is the best way to unlock the feeling."

Ravi blinked, and glanced back at his father again. When he nodded, Ravi plopped down on the ground, and did as [member="Daichi"] said. He didn't nkow what he meant by "feel the area around him", but he did his best nontheless. The squib closed his eyes, and tried to attune his senses to the clearing, listening to any sounds, picturing the clearing in his head. Well, he tried too. After about two seconds, the extremely impatient opened one eye, and glanced at Daichi. "Nothin's happening..."

(Alls good. He is force sensitive, btw, just very impatient. :p)

"Clear your mind. Don't force anything, that will just lead to frustration. Calm yourself. Let it flow naturally." Daichi's eyes were closed at this point, and he sat there, on top of the rock simply waiting. This was always the hardest part of learning to use the Force. It was like learning to cross your eyes, it happened by chance, and you had to remember how exactly you did it to begin with. But the man was patient, perhaps patient enough for both he and [member="Ravi Savak"] .

Ravi frowned, but obeyed. Anything that would let him do what [member="Daichi"] did was worth doing! So the squib crossed his legs, and closed his eyes again, trying to 'focus' on the world around him. He tried to imagine what the clearing looked like, every individual leaf, every sound. He did his best to focus, restraining himself from complaining that nothing was happening yet. Ravi had the potential to be strong in the force, he just had to learn- he had to be patient. So, he was. The squib sat there, focusing on the world around him, and doing his best to concentrate.

"You do not concentrate to meditate. Do not think, let it flow." Daichi had one eye open, watching the Squib. He could see the boys concentration, and truth be told he was impressed with [member="Ravi Savak"] 's determination. But, determination could only get you so far. There would be a point where the boy would have to learn. And yet, Daichi felt he could.

Ravi resisted the urge to give up when [member="Daichi"] said it still wasn't working, but managed not to. How was he supposed to just let it happen? How could anything happen without making it work? A frown showed on the Squib's muzzle. But he still tried. He pushed his thoughts out of his mind, and tried to calm himself. He let his muscles relax, let his mind relax. And soon, without even realizing, he was allowing himself to drop in to meditation.

Daichi smiled once before closing his eye. Perhaps [member="Ravi Savak"] would be able to learn after all. He would continue to sit, his voice now much softer as he spoke to the Squib. "Do you feel it? The wind blowing across the grass, the warm dirt beneath you. Just.. Feel."

It was amazing. He could feel the grass moving around him as the wind blew through it. He could hear birds singing on the pine boughs of the trees towering around them. A smile grew on the Squib's face as he fell deeper in to meditation, attuning all his senses to the clearing around him, per [member="Daichi"]'s instructions.

"Now, feel the rock I'm sitting on. Feel the minerals, it's shape. Imagine it lifting into the air, slowly rising from the very ground." Daichi had his eyes open at this point. Now was a matter of control. He wanted to see how well [member="Ravi Savak"] could manipulate the Force without any real training. His gaze would turn from the young squib to Rilik, offering the faintest of shrugs then.

Ravi did as he was told, shifting his focus forwards where he heard [member="Daichi"]'s voice. He was suprised as the rock's image appeard in his mind, showing a faint blurry image of it. Ravi relaxed himself as instructed, trying to picture the rock, trying o imagine how it looked, how it felt. The image in his mind slowly came clearer, showingit's size and texture. Then he imagined it lifting. In his mind, the rock floated in the air as if it was light as a feather, but in relaity the rock didn't move at all. At first. Minutes went by, what seemed like hours to Ravi, as he focused on the rock, trying to imagine it floating in to the air. Between the rock's own weigt, and Daichi's on top of it, he obviously wasn't ablle to lift it wouthout training. But as Ravi shifted his focus on to the rock, Daichi could feel it trembling just slightly under him, shifting on the ground no more then a tenth of an inch.

Ravi imagined the rock in his head, trying to picture it's size and shape. Staying in his state of meditaiton, Ravi focused on what the rock looked like, how it would feel if he touched it. The image of the rock slowly formed in his mind, slightly curved on the right, an impression in the middle, made of some kind of dark grey stone. Then he imagined it moving. He imagined it flying in to the air, and in his head it was as light as a feather. In reality, it didn't move at all. At first. Minutes passed, what seemed to Ravi like hours, as he tried to imagine the rock floating in to the air. Without training and practice, of course, Ravi was unable to lift the small boulder- ecpecially with [member="Daichi"] sitting on it. But as he focused, Daichi could feel it shift just slightly, just a slight tremor, prehaps shifting across the ground a tench of an inch.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post, I thought the first post didn't resgister so I re-wrote it... ._.

Daichi kept still the entire time. He was atop the rock to hopefully keep it from flying if the boy turned out to have uncontrollable power. This was not the case as nothing happened. Daichi sat patiently, frowning as the time went by, but.. The rock shifted. To those looking from a distance it may not look like much, but to him. Daichi stood then, grinning wide. His hands would clasp together loudly. "Very well! I am impressed!"

Ravi opened his eyes as [member="Daichi"] shouted, unaware he was unable to move the rock.

"But... I... I couldn't do it..."

The squib frowned at the rock. He was expected to be able to fling it across the field, like Daichi did. Or at very least to hover it in the air... But he couldn't do anything. Ravi looked down at his lap with a frown etched across his face, obviously dissapointed.
