OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Historically, the device was made to make up for a shortfall of Ultrasonic Generators during the Yuuzhan Vong wars. As Avali biology restricted the use of commonly acquired blasters or slug throwers researchers began reverse engineering the technology to be more receptive to the Avali Warmachine and the resources it produced.
The most significant change was the removal of the more powerful power source and replacing it with stabilised Nourverian taking advantage of its high resistance to sonic sound. This enabled far greater control over the frequency but removed one of the key benefits of a Vibroblade weapon. Making up for this shortfall a device is integrated into the generator that passively seeks a materials resonant frequency, increasing the weapons cutting edge. When activated the blade emits a low-pitched buzz.
Over time some of these devices have been traded or acquired by people outside of the Satorian and Avali cultures and have sometimes seen use by members of the underworld.
- Intent: Design a variant Sonic Generator for Vibroblade weapons.
- Canon Link: N/A
- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: Ultrasonic Vibration Generator (UVG)
- Manufacturer: Numerous Avali Guilds including Citalee Spacers Guild
- Affiliation: Avali (Species)
- Market Status: Closed-Market; Open-Market (Avali & Satorian)
- Model: N/A
- Modularity: Yes (Vibroblade Component)
- Production: Mass-Produced
- Material:
- Electronic Components
- Durasteel or any other suitable alloy casing
- Nouverian Crystal (Stabilised)
- Module - Can be equipped with any non-blunt type Vibro weapons in the Galaxy.
- Adaptive Resonance - When the weapon strikes a material, such as armour or alloys, the emitter adjusts its ultrasonic field to match the resonant frequency. This vastly improves the cutting edge of the blade, far in excess of traditional vibroblades.
- Stabilised Edge - Vibroblades using this technology do not experience the diminishing returns they may otherwise experience with other Vibroblade weapons, as the emitter maintains a consistent flow rather releasing it into single powerful blasts overall making it more reliable in extended periods of combat.
- Multilayered Protection - An simple and effective counter commonly employed is to layer armour, forcing the weapon to rediscover the new frequency.
- Time - The effect isn't instant and usually requires several strikes, progressively increasing its cutting edge against the material.
- The Ultrasonic Generator produced a sonic detonation when striking objects, in some cases this could shatter bone or throw opponents off balance. The Transonic Generator lacks this property.
