The City of Theed was a vastly beautiful place, the Capital of Naboo and the new center of power within the Confederacy of Independent Systems; With the coming arrival of the Galactic Confederacy, also came a swell of new visitors, trade and commerce to the world of Naboo bustling it's economy and general appeal to the rest of the surrounding nations. Among these numerous visitors was one Danielle Mueller whom had been present for the Coronation of the new Queen and her backing of the Confederacy. It had been a wondrous affair, a celebration that brought dignitaries from many different corners of the navigational charts, and in the middle of it all had stood the girl without a face to the rest of the world. Quaint, humble and yet easily forgettable, she was naught but a civilian and a freshly registered citizen of confederate space at that.

Fifteen years old, no job and only basic military academy training made day to day life rather more tense than most who called afford to live within such a marvelous City; Dee on the other hand had been there only a week and so far had nothing to show for it. She'd been searching for some sort of job that might put a credit chip to her name when she had stumbled upon a care facility for children without homes or parents to love and protect them. In short, it was an orphanage similar to the place that she had been raised in...-Only without the strict military lifestyle.

Over the passed few days, she had come and gone from the outskirts of the building, unable to build up the courage to enter the facility for the memories that it brought and the fact that she had so little to offer. Watching from the tall barring fence of the back section, she had spent more than a handful of hours watching the children play in their breaks, avoiding contact with the adult carers of the establishment yet finding small pleasure in seeing the younglings laughing and getting along. Completely ignorant of the world beyond the walls that kept them safe and sound.

Today however...-Today was the day. Dani had been tossing and turning on the need to see these children up close, stewing on the fact that she could probably relate to the feelings of isolation and abandonment that many of them were probably living with, having no family of their own. She herself could often recall the days spent looking out from the inside as children roamed the neighboring street alongside their parents, and questioning why she'd been so unlucky.

Slowly coming to stand before the entrance, where her confidence might fail her, the guilt of seeing these children and knowing what pain that kind of life felt like had forced her to confront her fears. She didn't exactly know what to expect or what she was going to say to the people that looked after the place and those living within, but even if just for one day she might spend some time with these children and give them a friendly face to talk to...Surely that was better than nothing. Right?

The inherent beauty of this world was not lost on her.

She had spent many moons languishing on sparkling lakeshores with a man she had deeply cherished. Aryn Teth was a part of her. She could see the dark of his hair between the leaves of luxurious green trees. The shade of his eyes were written in the open wide skies that were speckled with pristine fluffy clouds. The sun was a forbidden warmth. She shielded herself against knowing that such things were true. She blocked out the memories that pulled on her heart, that triggered loss, and unending rage—And buried it beneath the mantle of a dreaded queen.

Did she still love him?

Yes. Some part of her always would. But, he had rescinded his heart when she’d failed their family. It was for this reason that pieces of her hated Naboo more than words could say. She didn’t want to be on this planet. She didn’t want to be in this system. However—It was her duty. A requirement of an Exarch of the Confederacy of Independent Systems.

Her beloved Vicelord, her Master, needed her to be present.

Srina would serve without complaint.

A deep sigh welled from within as her thoughts moved to someone new in her life. He was opposite in nearly every aspect of her first ill-fated love, but, he had graced her with something invaluable. Hope. Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean was almost her mirror. They held the same otherworldly features. Pale hair. Pale skin. His eyes were golden, brilliant, in such a way that they were almost on fire. He was often taken to systems far away by his own adventures and enterprises but Srina could still feel him. The faintest memory. Strange, that she let him in.

Strange. That she cared. Wanted, to care.

Strange that she missed him when he’d only just left.

This led her to try out a variety of distractions while left to her own devices on the idyllic world of Naboo. Her offices were still under construction and restoration efforts were already underway for the worlds that had suffered during the Agent Wars. It was a difficult balance. To restore the planets and economy that had been damaged while also being mindful of the suffering that had transpired. It seemed that the deadly hits wouldn’t stop coming.

It seemed that their nation simply wouldn’t stop suffering.

Battles that were spurred by outside forces were fraught with insidious pacts. Hidden evils. There was so much blood on the hands of their enemies that they would never be any color but red ever again. Srina could only respond one way. She took what was required. She took the fear that echoed in the hearts of those that depended on the Offices of the Vicelord to keep things stable, took it from them, shouldered it—And bore it until it became her strength.

That was the true secret of the Dread Queen. It was not merely an ability to inspire fear—But a gift to take it. To bear it while they could not. To stand tall, always, regardless of the cost. It was what she had watched her Master do year after year. If he could stand?

So, would she.

Srina sat in a group of younglings within the confines of the backyard of an orphanage. Naboo had always taken in refugees, even before, they’d agreed to join the Confederacy. It must have been jarring for some of them. Especially, historians, that would liken it to an occupation of old. That wasn’t the case. They’d spoken with the leaders of Naboo during a time of crisis and it had been unanimously decided. Naboo would be the new capital of the Confederacy. The pale-skinned woman wished that it were anywhere else. Anywhere—Anywhere at all. Come flame, come acid rain, come monsters…

Anywhere but Naboo.

As it stood, she held a small reptile out for the children to see. It was newly hatched but strong, holding to her fingers, with little leathery wings. Her menagerie on Ryloth had been all but destroyed. So many of her creatures lost, injured, or killed in the attack. She mourned them, but, life always found a way. From the wreckage, she had recovered quite a few eggs. Only this one had hatched. It would never grow much larger than it was now, but, it was an easy companion. Long white hair was pulled back in a tight ponytail whilst the diminutive winged creature looped around her fingers trying to catch them.

“He eats fruit primarily, though, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t watch your fingers.”

The grass was pleasant beneath her. If she closed her eyes, listening, to children laughing she could almost imagine what it might have been like. The reptile flapped small wings and took flight for a moment. Srina let a hand flow and pulled a thin stream of water from the pond beside them. The water formed rings and the younglings danced in their seats while her little friend dove through them, one after the other, with cheerful little chirrups and cries.

She wore white with a gold brocade that seemed to be in the fashion of Naboo. Srina tried to blend in. Nothing about her would directly point out her position with the CIS unless someone recognized her face. Most of the staff were just happy to have the younglings entertained for a while. Her hand moved in a soft orchestra that caused water to twirl and dance, delighting them further, while the Exarch remained silent. Her expression was firm. Cold.

Somehow—The children didn’t seem to pay it any mind.
