Travel between planets has always made me curious, but being in a recent thread has made me confused. I remember how long it took to get from hoth to bespin and dagobah, neither more than 2 weeks so Im q bit confused how travel between kesh and demonsgate could take 4 times longer for a fraction of the distance.

Basically, on really well-worn major routes, you can cross the galaxy in days. For backwater stuff, it could be a couple days between adjacent planets. Tons and tons of variation.

Perhaps I could offer some insight.

Example 1 ; Hoth to Bespin , 2 weeks
Example 2 ; Kesh to Demonsgate , 8 weeks

In example one the path between Hoth and Bespin is relatively clear of any other celestial bodies, meaning you travel in a relatively straight line without interruption.

However in example two you are required to make multiple jumps to avoid impacts with planets, asteroid belts and other celestial bodies. The overall distance may in fact be much less but you are required to stop many times to point yourself in a new direction to make yet another short jump before stopping and doing it again.

Curious, still surprised though such a short distance would take so long but the reasoning makes a small bit of sense.

The bigger confusion for me is bespin and dagobah, which seemed to have taken one day. That's why I assumed that kesh and demonsgate would be 1-2 weeks

Bespin and Dagobah are both right beside the interstate. It's easy to get from one to the other using high-efficiency super-hyperlanes. Plus Luke kept things on manual - he used instinctive astrogation.

For more context, in case it wasn't clear, I was running on the assumption that it's quite quick to get from Kal'Shebbol (the one and only entrance to the Kathol Outback) to Kesh; it's getting from Kal'Shebbol to Demonsgate that takes like four months. I used the canon travel times and did this 60-post expedition; it was a ton of fun.

Ya, Ive pretty much turned Kesh into a major port that any trade from Kalshebbol likely would go through, so a trip between the two planets would be hours if not a few days max. A year of effort sure does help with that.
