Public Tree of Life (Life Day on Kashyyyk)

life-day-hero-mobile_88b28a35.jpeg

It was Life Day once again. Wookiees from around the world had donned their traditional red robes, fashioned blue orbs from crystal and twine, and gathered at the sacred Tree of Life to celebrate... well, life.

Offworlders were also welcome to join in the festivities. Inanna, in her infinite wisdom (well, two hundred years of wisdom anyway) thought her new apprentice might enjoy the holiday cheer. This was Padawan Resh Resh 's first Life Day, and she wanted to make it a memorable one for him, full of joy and wonder. It made sense to bring him straight to the source.

"What do you think so far?" she asked, having to raise her voice over the sound of the pounding drums and Wookiee roars. There was food to sample and presents to open. She'd even heard talk of a race that would be held a bit later in the day, letting those who had received hoverbikes as gifts take them for a spin. She hadn't gotten Resh a bike, although she did have something hidden away for later, when the time was right.

Inanna's words reached his ears, but the words did not translate. Resh was transfixed by the flakes of gently falling snow. Even beneath the dense canopies of Kashyyyk, enough snow made it through to blanket the forest floor. He had never seen something so... pure, before. When he first saw it, Resh bleakly believed he was looking at pollutant ash; That he had seen before. But what he saw here on Kashyyyk didn't stifle his breathing, and it was far too white. It filled him with an unfamiliar sense of wonder. The boy's eyes went cross as he tracked one particular flake of snow that descended onto the tip of his nose. He reached up to touch it, but the flake had already melted against the heat of his skin.

As if that alone pulled him from his reverie, Resh suddenly blinked and looked at Inanna. A confused smile touched his lips. He enjoyed it, yet he couldn't comprehend why it was enjoyable. "Um... it's cool." He said, glancing down and brushing a drift of snow with his foot, exposing some of the ground beneath, "What is all this?"

My friend, I assure you that none of this is necessary.

[Nonsense, you have done so much for us, this is the least we could do for you.]

Master Vanagor was walking with Shyyyo's Heart Tribe elder Llafyks as well as a large group of Wookiee younglings(with chaperones) and Jedi from the Shadow Temple. The Jedi were encouraged to just enjoy themselves and have the fun they missed out on when they were younglings themselves. Looking to Master Vanagor who just smiled and nodded encouragement, they did so. The Jedi and Wookiees laughed and played together, and Master Vanagor was happy to see the younglings so happy. He praised them for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue to enjoy themselves. The group continued on, laughing and playing along the way.

We are “family” are we not? This is not a transactional relationship or competition. He said, clapping the much larger Wookiee on the back .

[Then it is time to remind you what a “Life Debt” truly is.]

Caltin had never forgotten the day that he was a brash young Knight and was on assignment with another investigating a slave ring when they saved the tribe and their Wroshyr tree from fire. Recently deceased elder “Llabruf”, Llafyks grandfather was there for that, a very young youngling. He spent his life telling the stories and extolling the virtues of the Jedi and when the very one who saved him, his family and his tribe was out of the ice? Well that was that. Wookiees are known for their loyalty and this was just another showing why. Llafyk was determined to find a way to honor his grandfather's memory. He decided to build a memorial in his honor, a place for Wookiees to remember and celebrate his life. The memorial was a simple stone pillar with an image of Llabruf inscribed on it.

It was then that Caltin sensed two other Jedi in the area.

"Um... it's cool. What is all this?"

"It's called snow," Inanna answered. "It freaked me out the first time I saw it. But it's just frozen, crystalized rain."

Sith Purebloods used their whole face to emote; the cheek tendrils that dangled from his jowls would twitch or curl depending on his mood. She was slowly learning how to read her Padawan's expressions. Right now, he looked... contented, if a little puzzled. This was all new to him, as it had once been to her.

A group of young Wookiees had started a snowball fight in one of the other tree platforms. Inanna crouched down and gathered some snow in her gloved hands, forming it into a ball, which she then offered to Resh. "If there was more of it here, I'd show you how to make a snowman..." But the snow hadn't quite piled up high enough yet. She bent down to make another snowball, which she then threw experimentally...

... only for it to collide with Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor 's bald head right as the Jedi Master happened to be walking past.

[It is truly enjoyable to watch the children be able to play and enjoy themselves without worry..]

Indeed... He answered, clearly distracted.

[Is everything alright, my friend?]

Huh? Oh, I’m fine, just sensed a couple of Jedi who are not familiar, nothing bad.

He was looking off with an interested smile. I am thankful thaWHOAH!. What caused the stir was his being smacked directly in the head by a rather large snowball. He looked around shocked, but there was something inside him that made Caltin want to laugh his head off, as if a part of him wanted it, almost like someone was writing this in front of a laptop in a galaxy far far away.

dc-injustice-2-mobile-black-adam-reveal-trailer-dc-izfr7cxbg_82bm.2560.png
With a familiar look on his face, Caltin stormed over to the two “new” Jedi and pointed between them.

It was one of you two, wasn’t it?! He laughed a chuckle of absolutely no humor as he looked around.

[Calm down my friend, I’m sure it was meant in fun…]

You’re going to pay for that! You know why? He laughed as he kicked his head back with a sector wide grin.

SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!

Loud enough for everyone to hear his call, Caltin dropped to a squat and grabbed some snow and formed a snowball of his own looking around for a target as everyone in the area seemed to get in on the fun.

The snow crunched softly beneath Enigma's durasteel feet as she emerged from the shadows of the Wookiee settlement. Her pink chassis, polished and unmarred by time, stood out starkly against the muted whites and grays of the snowy forest floor. She had been observing the gathering from a distance, her advanced sensors recording every laugh, every movement, every stray snowball flung into the air. The Wookiees, the Jedi, and the offworlders were immersed in a scene of pure chaos—yet it was a chaos that carried with it a strange unity, a cohesion that fascinated her.

Her crimson visor scanned the area, analyzing the trajectory of snowballs, the laughter, and the clustering of individuals. What seemed at first to be randomness was, in reality, a highly organized form of play. Patterns emerged in the chaos—alliances formed and dissolved, participants shifted between offense and defense, and their energy fed off one another in a loop of shared joy. She did not experience emotions, not in the way these organics did, but she understood the value of this interaction. It was a method of bonding, an investment in camaraderie, and a reinforcement of trust.

Her processors calculated the potential benefits of engagement. If she joined in, it would serve multiple purposes: cementing her place among the group, fostering familiarity with potential allies or adversaries, and, most importantly, allowing her to analyze these organics in their unguarded state. The simulation was complete in milliseconds.

She bent down, her joints humming softly, and scooped up a handful of snow. It was colder than her sensory calibrations expected, its crystalline structure collapsing into itself as she compressed it into a perfect sphere. She noted the simple beauty of the material, its impermanence, its fragility. Then, rising to her full height, she launched the snowball with a swift flick of her arm.

The projectile sailed through the air with perfect precision, striking the shoulder of a Wookiee child engaged in battle with another group. The child froze, its furry head swiveling to find the source. It spotted her and let out a delighted roar, quickly scooping up a snowball and flinging it back in her direction. She tilted her head slightly as the snowball struck her chest with a soft thump.

The Wookiee's response triggered a ripple effect. Several others, noticing the tall, pink droid now standing among them, quickly decided she was a prime target. Snowballs began flying in her direction from multiple angles. She calculated their trajectories effortlessly, allowing some to hit her while sidestepping others with an agility that drew laughs and cheers.

Her voice, smooth and measured, cut through the din as she addressed the Wookiees nearby. "It appears I have been engaged. A logical counterattack is required."

She bent down again, this time gathering snow more rapidly, crafting three snowballs in quick succession. Her motions were mechanical yet efficient, each snowball launched with uncanny precision. One struck the Wookiee child squarely in the chest, another landed harmlessly on the back of a Wookiee elder, and the third was aimed at what she could only assume was a massive human ( Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor )

Enigma's crimson visor flickered faintly as her processors identified Caltin Vanagor amidst the swirling chaos of the snowball fight. Her recognition protocols surged to the forefront, activating a rapid scan of his appearance, movements, and voice. The result was immediate—a connection to the vast databanks of the Confederacy's records stored within her memory core.

Subject Identified: Caltin Vanagor. Jedi Knight. Operational during the Clone Wars. Classification: High-Priority Target. Conclusion: Significant divergence from wartime behavioral patterns. Likely adaptation to post-war circumstances. Current emotional state: relaxed, jovial. Prioritize Action: Do not provoke, target classification changed to: Undesignated.

The data flowed in milliseconds, reconstructing a profile of the man before her. Enigma's internal systems cross-referenced his combat records from the Separatist archives. His name had appeared in several strategic assessments during the war, marked for his decisive actions in high-stakes conflicts. A battle-hardened Jedi, capable of leading from the front, he had spearheaded missions against Separatist forces, disrupting carefully orchestrated plans with what organics called "heroism." His reputation for loyalty, persistence, and tactical improvisation had earned him a grudging respect from the droid commanders who had faced him in battle.

After the snowballs hit their designated targets, others responded in kind, their enthusiasm growing. Snowballs flew faster and in greater numbers, and soon Enigma found herself surrounded. She crouched slightly, her advanced sensors tracking every projectile and every participant. While the organics laughed, she analyzed. Their formations, their energy, their movements—all cataloged and stored for future reference. Yet she played along, allowing herself to appear clumsy at times, deliberately missing her targets or flinching under a well-aimed shot. It was necessary to blend in, to appear part of the chaos, even if she was never immersed in it.

Frozen, crystallized rain. Resh had a hard time comprehending it all. Heck even rain was still a relatively fresh concept for him. "Not just that," He said, "All of this," He gestured towards the Wookiees in the midst of their celebration. The music, the orbs, the robes, the ceremonies. It was all alien to him.

A few of the locals began pelting one another with the snow. Resh blinked a few times, interpreting it as a genuine fight at first. He flinched as Inanna pushed one towards him, half expecting her to throw it at him as well. Resh took it, and stared at the ball, unsure of what to do with it. Should he throw it as well? At who? Was there some kind of technique he was supposed to use? How did all the snow even stick together without falling apart?

Inanna made another ball and threw it herself, and it landed right on a big, burly man who was just walking past. Resh vaguely recognized him from the temple, and was indeed intimidated by his size. The man approached accusatorially, and Resh shuffled behind Inanna, expecting him to attack. But as the man declared a snowball fight and knelt down to collect some snow of his own, Resh mustered the courage to toss his own snowball at Caltin. Others nearby answered the call, and soon snowballs were flying all over the place, including one which hit Resh right on the cheek. It was quite cold, but the impact wasn't exactly painful. And as he noticed most everyone else was laughing and smiling, he finally seemed to understand the concept. Even a droid was getting in on the skirmish. Resh formed a snowball of his own (not quite as spherical as the one Inanna gave him), and re-engaged with new spirit.

"Not just that. All of this." He gestured towards the Wookiees in the midst of their celebration. The music, the orbs, the robes, the ceremonies. It was all alien to him.

"It's Life Day. A Wookiee holiday." Realizing he might not get that concept either, she added, "...Which is a celebration or a... a party." She smirked. "I'd go into specifics, but I'm not really sure what all of it means myself. We don't celebrate Life Day where I come from. I just go with the flow and enjoy the festivities."

After she handed him the snowball, Resh looked at it in befuddlement. Her demonstration didn't quite go as planned.

"It was one of you two, wasn’t it?! You’re going to pay for that! You know why? SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!"

"Cais ned'jin," Inanna whistled, uttering her famous Shi'idese catchphrase. She'd already explained to Resh what it meant. Though he instinctively hid behind her, the boy surprised her by lobbing his snowball at Caltin as well. "Nice one!" she declared. Then, to Caltin she bellowed, "Give me your best shot!"

The people around them rapidly began to join in on the fun, including a hot pink droid of some kind. Inanna was hit in the chest, the snow breaking up upon impact. Laughing, she sprouted extra arms to make and throw snowballs faster. It was definitely cheating, but she was in a showoff mood, pelting targets and creating a pile of spare ammunition for her and her apprentice.

The snowball fight had escalated into a chaotic frenzy of flying white projectiles and laughter. The forest platform buzzed with energy, organic voices echoing beneath the towering branches of Kashyyyk's Wroshyr trees. Enigma stood amidst the revelry, her polished pink chassis standing out starkly against the muted grays and whites of the snowy setting. Snow clung briefly to her armor before melting, leaving faint streaks of moisture on her unmarred surface. Each flake, each impact, each laugh from the Wookiees and Jedi alike was cataloged, analyzed, and archived within her quantum processor.

Her mechanical motions were graceful, precise—yet, as she launched another snowball into the fray, Enigma made a calculated effort to appear imperfect. It would not serve her long-term goals to stand out too clearly in this moment. Her throws were a careful balance: some struck with impeccable aim, drawing cheers or groans from her targets, while others sailed slightly wide, "missing" their marks with just enough error to pass for natural play. Her processors hummed as she tracked the movements of everyone involved. Each Jedi, youngling, and Wookiee was a piece on a board she had not yet fully mapped, but one that she now began to play.

Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor 's booming laugh carried through the chaos, a sound that triggered another ripple of movement as younglings and Jedi alike rallied to his challenge. Enigma's visor flickered faintly as she cataloged his behavior once again. This Jedi Master, once a known entity in her archives during the Clone Wars, now led through charisma and trust, wielding unity like a weapon. A study in adaptation. She turned her attention to Resh Resh , the young Sith Pureblood Padawan, who had finally found his footing in the game. His snowball sailed clumsily but bravely towards another, striking closer to the mark than expected. A small victory, but one that triggered growth—an organic adaptation Enigma filed away under behavioral development.

Her crimson visor swept to Inanna Harth Inanna Harth , who now moved with increased efficiency—her multiple arms sprouting to give her an undeniable edge in the skirmish. Enigma tilted her head slightly at the sight. A fascinating biological capability, and one that defied standard combat norms. Organics' ability to surprise her calculations with such variables reminded her why they remained difficult to predict, despite their inefficiencies.

"An unconventional escalation," Enigma said aloud, her voice calm and modulated as ever, though audible over the din. "Countermeasures must adapt accordingly."

Enigma bent down, her motions impossibly smooth, and swept up a considerable volume of snow. Instead of crafting individual snowballs, she compressed the entire mound between her hands, forming an oversized snow sphere nearly a meter in diameter. It was an absurd, impractical weapon, yet it fulfilled an unspoken purpose: engaging the organics on their own terms. Theatrics were necessary for full integration.

Her systems calculated the target in milliseconds. Enigma's visor flared brighter, and with a single mechanical push, she launched the massive snowball through the air. It arced like a meteor, its shadow passing over several participants before it approached its target, looming over
Inanna Harth Inanna Harth like a predator who had leapt to strike her from above.

"Overconfidence can lead to vulnerability," Enigma remarked flatly, her tone carrying the faintest edge of humorless irony.

The snowball war raged on, and Enigma remained in the center of it, dodging with mechanical precision, crouching low to sculpt perfectly spherical snowballs, and launching them in volleys when targets presented themselves. A pair of young Wookiees declared her their adversary, charging toward her with armfuls of snow. She allowed herself to be "caught," her visor dimming as though in mock defeat as they pelted her with a barrage of snowballs, their delighted roars echoing. "
Tactical failure recorded," she intoned smoothly, rising back to her full height. "Initiating retaliation."

She scooped a double handful of snow, compacting it swiftly and launching a snowball at their retreating forms, striking one squarely in the back. The young Wookiee tripped, laughing even as he tumbled into a drift of snow. The victory belonged to both sides in this playful war, but Enigma's processors were already working toward her true goal. Connections must be forged. Familiarity must breed trust.

Her attention returned to Caltin Vanagor Caltin Vanagor . He was laughing still, surrounded by Wookiee children who had flocked to his side for protection or vengeance against the pink droid. If Enigma were to establish a foothold with the Galactic Alliance, gaining the notice—and perhaps the trust—of individuals like him would be critical. She pivoted through the snow, gliding effortlessly toward where the Jedi Master stood, preparing an arsenal of snowballs.

"Master Vanagor," Enigma said, her smooth, feminine voice cutting through the frosty air. She bent slightly to form another snowball, her visor glowing faintly as she addressed him. "I have been designated a high-value target in this engagement. I believe an alliance would be mutually beneficial."

"Mutual cooperation yields the highest probability of success in any engagement," she continued. "You are a highly experienced combatant. I possess precision and tactical analysis capabilities. Together, our victory is assured." She tilted her head in that slight, mechanical way that hinted at an attempt to mimic organic expression. "And," she added after a beat, "it would be most efficient."

[Snowba… OHHH this should be truly fun! Yes!]

With everyone in earshot suddenly laughing and either balling up snow or running for cover, it was chaos, but it was great. Caltin had already managed to lob two snowballs, one which Inanna dodged so did the young one near her, and another at the Jedi Knight “Bucket” who tried to sneak up behind him. Then Resh’s snowball caught him when he was not looking, right in the back of the head.

Looking back, he saw the Knight who initially hit him (Inanna) suddenly sprouting more arms as she challenged him to “give his best shot”. Challenge accepted! You cheater! Laughing as he grabbed some snow and balling it up as he was sprinting to his right and into a dive almost behind a snowpile, Caltin SLUNG that snowball at her, only to stop it mid-air by way of Force Stasis at the last moment. When she was busy with forming more snowballs was when he would let it go, redirecting it aimed at her chest.

An old school tactical droid? Still around? In the snowball fight? Even at 900 years old, Caltin was still seeing new things. His notice of the droid would be at a high cost as he was soon being ganged up on by Wookiee younglings, Llafyks leading the charge. Hey! Oh really! You’re gonna get it! He answered with a laugh.

[Charge, young ones! Make him run home and have to change clothes! Soak him with snow!]

Just not the “yellow” kind, okay?!

dc-injustice-2-mobile-black-adam-reveal-trailer-dc-izfr7cxbg_82bm.2560.png
Chortling as he “last second” dodged a flurry of snow based ammunition from Jedi and Wookiee alike, surprisingly, the droid was in the “fight”. He watched, to see what it was doing. Was this droid actually fighting, or joining on the fun? This was turning out to be a great day, right up to the snowballs that were suddenly pelting his immediate vicinity by Jedi and Wookiee alike. Hey! Get the cheater over there! She’s using extra arms!

[You’re closer!]

Laughing as he was packing more snow, Caltin was suddenly joined by the Tactical Droid?

It looks like the both of us are, my metal friend. Though I am at a loss, you know me, but I do not know you. He laughed as he started throwing his ammunition through the Force out in all directions. Is this droid actually suggesting a teamup?

Let’s do it. Jumping to his feet, but immediate ducking again as several were waiting for him to do that, Caltin jumped up again and threw two more snowballs before dropping back to the ground.

Resh did understand the concept of a celebration, more or less. Much like with the snow, he opted not to dwell too much on the minutia and simply enjoy the moment for what it was. Many of the new things he had experienced since escaping his cult had led Resh to newfound joy, and Life Day seemed no different. By now practically everyone around had gotten swept up in the snowball fight, child, adult, and droid alike.

Resh stuck close to Inanna for the most part. Were they technically on a team? He couldn't say, but she hadn't betrayed him yet. In fact she had taken the liberty to grow an extra few arms to give them an advantage, creating a surplus of snowball ammunition in the process. Resh laughed at the sight, and began picking up and throwing the snowballs rapid fire. Whether or not he was hitting anything, he hardly cared.

Before long, however, it seemed the two of them had competition. Master Vanagor and the droid had struck a dark pact of their own, and were beginning to dominate the battle. Resh thought it prudent to focus on the biggest threats, and began directing most of his volley at those two. He was hardly putting any effort into dodging, so whatever snowballs came the pureblood's way would likely pelt him.

Inanna was enjoying herself, throwing snowballs left and right and getting pelted by a few from others, when she saw the pink droid forming a ridiculously large snowball. Moments later, it was launched straight at her. Using the Force, Inanna stopped the meter-wide snowball in midair. Momentum caused it to break apart, bits of sparkling white snow sprinkling harmlessly over her.

The droid had apparently teamed up with Caltin. Inanna was with Resh, of course. A dark thought occurred to her—that this might serve as practice for when they would fight more serious battles together in the future. But she pushed that idea down. Now was a time for fun and good cheer.

"Use the Force to make a barrier," she instructed her apprentice. Raising her two dominant arms, she gave him a demonstration, creating an invisible barrier. The snowballs thrown by Caltin and the droid hit the wall and fell back onto the ground. "Now you try it, Resh!"

Enigma crouched low behind a snowbank, her sensors tracking the trajectories of dozens of snowballs flying through the air. The chaotic energy of the fight was both predictable and captivating, patterns forming and dissolving in real time. She formed another perfectly spherical snowball, compressing the snow with mechanical precision. Her calculations told her that throwing it at Resh, who was now experimenting with the Force to create a barrier, would encourage his developing reflexes.

She rose to her full height, surveying the battlefield. Inanna had intercepted her previous oversized snowball with a skillful display of Force manipulation. The Shi'ido's extra arms continued to churn out snowballs at an impressive pace, providing ample ammunition for her apprentice. Nearby, Caltin crouched behind cover, pelting opponents with projectiles aided by the Force, his booming laughter echoing across the platform.

Enigma tilted her head slightly, tracking the subtle shifts in alliances. The pairings of Inanna and Resh, Caltin and herself—temporary as they were—illustrated the organic reliance on cooperation and camaraderie. The interplay of competition and collaboration fascinated her. Yet she also recognized an opportunity.

"Master Vanagor," she said smoothly, stepping closer to the Jedi Master while evading a snowball aimed at her torso. "Our coordinated assault has yielded favorable results. However, further engagement with adversaries of their caliber may require enhanced tactics."

She launched another volley of snowballs, this time targeting Inanna and Resh's position with mechanical precision. Each snowball arced perfectly, splattering harmlessly against the barrier Inanna had erected. Enigma filed away the maneuver for future analysis.

As the fight continued, Enigma's processors calculated the next step in her plans. The snowball fight served its purpose: camaraderie, trust-building, and analysis. But there were deeper objectives to pursue. She needed to secure private discussions with key players, particularly Inanna and Caltin. Both represented influence within the Jedi, and both could prove valuable for her long-term objectives.

Her voice cut through the din again, directed at Caltin. "Master Vanagor, I must commend your adaptability. It is no surprise you have retained your reputation as a formidable tactician."

She turned slightly, her visor glowing faintly brighter as she shifted her focus to Inanna. "And you, your improvisation and resourcefulness are remarkable. It is clear your Padawan benefits greatly from your instruction."

The snowball fight raged on, and Enigma continued to participate, crafting and throwing projectiles with deliberate precision. But her tone shifted subtly, an undercurrent of purpose woven into her otherwise lighthearted remarks.

"At your convenience, I would like to request a private discussion," she said, her words carrying a calm but undeniable weight. "There are matters of mutual interest that warrant further exploration."

Another snowball came her way, this time hurled by a particularly determined Wookiee child. She sidestepped it with mechanical grace, then retaliated with a gentle throw that struck the child's leg, sending him tumbling into the snow with a delighted roar. Her attention flicked briefly back to Caltin. "For now," she added, her tone returning to its earlier playful edge, "I suggest we resume our alliance. The Wookiees appear to be forming a coalition. Tactical superiority is imperative."

With that, she bent down to gather more snow, her visor glowing faintly as she calculated the next volley. Despite her focus on the snowball fight, the groundwork for future conversations had been laid. Enigma's mind, ever calculating, never rested.

How good is your aim?

Caltin asked as he was making another pair of snowballs quickly and lobbing them both at Wookiee younglings. They were getting it from both sides now as some Wookiees did not quite understand and charged as if in a real fight, they left themselves open to a “wet shot” and thus Caltin obliged.

Looking back the other way he watched as snowballs from Enigma and the Wookiees stopped in mid air and sort of slid downward as if hitting a wall. With a laugh, the big guy yelled out Cheater! of course that actually left him open to attack as he managed to catch one of the Wookiee’s snowballs, only to toss it back to them an wink as if offering to “try that again.

The compliment from the droid was unexpected, then again “she” was a Tactical Droid so there was a lot more to the programming, at least how he remembered it.

You’re not so bad yourself.

Then he came up with another idea as he was forming more snowballs at a feverish pace.

I’m a bigger target, how about I “tank”, you “spank”? An old, classic tactic where the “biggest” would draw fire and allow the others to have clear shots.

Eku1KfW.png

Resh threw snowball after snowball at the first moving target he could see. He was hit by plenty himself, but never seemed deterred in the fight. Inane suggested he try to make a barrier to protect himself from the snowballs. Resh turned to study her example, and was hit in the face by another snowball as he did. Truth be told, the idea wasn't all that appealing to him, as it meant no longer throwing any snowballs himself. But he did as she encouraged him to do, raising his hands to try and form a barrier.

At first, nothing really happened. He raised his hands up, but any and all snowballs sailed right through his would-be barrier, including a whole flurry of them launched by the droid. He shivered as the cold began to catch up with him. After that, the intensity of the attacks seemed to wane somewhat, as the droid expressed interest in future private talks with the adults. Resh kept focusing on his barrier, weaving the force in the space between his arms. Another snowball came, and exploded off the invisible shield. More came, and did the same. After several consecutive impacts, his concentration faltered, and the barrier dissipated, letting another snowball strike him on the head.
