In a manner consistent with their tendency to find simple, economic solutions to difficult problems, Trigonus Industries has produced an active tractor countermeasure: The Slipknot. Using a Repulsorlift field generator tied to an energy modulation circuit, this Repulsive Flux Generator creates repulsorlift fields that act in decoherence with tractor beam emissions. This allows a tractor beam to be disrupted long enough for a captive ship to escape. There have been some accusations that this device enables piracy, but Trigonus Industries maintains the opposite: It allows legitimate vessels to escape piracy. In order to be useful, a ship's other shields must be temporarily deactivated while the Slipknot is active. In addition, the Slipknot calibrates itself to a specific tractor beam. Thus, if one ship captures a vessel with two tractor beam emitters, or if two ships use tractor beams on a vessel, the RFG can only decohere one of them.
