Description:
With the impending doom of Kaeshana, efforts have been made to evacuate that world and resettle Tygara. Unlike Kaeshana and most of the other worlds Firemane has operated on before, the oceans play a huge role in transport and trade. Thus, with the alliance to Amikaron under Semiramis III, ships were needed to counter other Qadiri nations and the predations of the Xioquo raiders.
Therefore Firemane had to create a surface vessel for combat in quantity for the first time. Using Eldorai aesthetics and upgrading the designs of other galactic vessels, the Triton was produced on Tygara shortly after the first settlements were established.
The Triton carries a crew of 25 officers and 150 crew, of which 5 and 20 respectively are marines. These operate the deck mounted Mk3 boltguns, board enemy ships and repel boarders. It is powered by a standard reactor, and its streamlined shape allow for rapid turning and speeds, as well as good survivability on storms.
As the Triton’s main job is to scout and explore, as well as patrol, it has an extensive array of scanning and mapping equipment. It is also able to scan underwater using sonar to a depth of 200 metres.
For armaments, the Triton has one turbolaser fore, one aft in a turret. Each turret has a 270 degree arc of fire. These cannons provide a heavy punch against light targets or as shore bombardment. A single shot from one of these can destroy or cripple any non-military ship of similar size.
To protect against boarders and to provide short ranged anti-personnel support, six of the heavy Mk3 Bolter cannons are placed at strategic points. These can fire withering hails of explosive shots at an effective range of half a kilometre to break up light enemy emplacements.
Whilst the Triton has limited air defences, it does have five Keraunos anti-air missiles. These missiles have good range and speed to deal with many regular planetary aircraft.
Finally, the Triton has a pair of dorsal torpedo tubes. These torpedoes are standard naval weapons imported from the Eldorai, and approximate power and accuracy as standard modern submarine weapons.
Overall the Triton is a versatile escort and patrol ship which is not designed to take on powerful enemy forces.
Development Thread: N/A
Intent: To create a surface patrol ship for policing and settling the world of Tygara. This vessel is primarily designed for surface action, but has limited anti-air capabilities. The stats of this ship are based off real world frigates with some changes to account for the more advanced technology available.

Material: Standard surface ship components.
Classification: Surface patrol ship.
Length: 110 metres.
Width: 18 metres
Height: 5 metre draught, from waterline; 12 metres.
Armament:
- 2 x turbolaser cannon turrets (one fore, one aft).
- 6 x Mk3 Bolters for anti-personnel usage.
- 1 x 25% size Keraunos anti-air missile launchers (5 missiles)
- 2 x dorsal torpedo launchers (2 torpedos each)
Hangar: 1 dropship or small gunship. Lifeboats for all the crew.
Special Features:
- Planetary communications suite.
- Satellite uplink and mapping system.
- Sonar and surface/air scanning system.
- Lifeboats for all crew.
- Standard reactor.
Maneuverability Rating: 8/20.
Speed Rating: 6/20 or 60km/h if this was a speed rating for surface vessels.
Hyperdrive Class: N/A
Strengths:
- Fast and Fierce. The Triton can reach impressive speeds of 60km/h, and has quite good weaponry for dealing with small surface targets.
- Electronics. The Triton has advanced scanning, monitoring and mapping systems to fulfil its role as a patrol ship.
- Hidden Threat. The ship’s two torpedo tubes are hidden and can unleash a nasty surprise to any surface ship.
- No Shields. As a standard surface vessel the Triton has limited defences and thin armour.
- Surface. As a surface vessel it is only a danger to those near the shore or on the water.
- LOS. All this ship’s weapons require line of sight, limiting range dramatically. Naturally, none of these weapons can be used against anything in space.
- AA. With only five missiles, the Triton has limited defences against enemy air attacks.
