Colap had received word just an hour earlier that a fleet of Prime-evil was inbound towards Makeb. A lone freighter had spotted them and made the jump to escape reporting back to the Ravens. As the Sergeant at Arms this was Colap burden to bear. He had set out with what small fleet he could immediately;y gather. His armada was rag tag collection of Privateers along with some Naval Mercenary captains .

As the stars drove by he rubbed his goatee, cigar blazing errantly in the corners of his mouth. The primeveil had been encountered once before. They had captrured his cousin Keira and the Ravens had paid a dear cost to reclaim her.

They were not to be under estimated. That's why he brought some of the biggest guns he could muster.

"Sarge, hyperspace jump complete reverting to realspace in 5,4,3,2,1."

Whoosh, the stars parted and a shimmer delivered Colaps fleet into the black sea of the void. Scanners began to ping as salty crewmen ran from station to station checking the specs of the fleet and the ships systems.

"All systems go, we have a complete headcount. We detect foreign vessels five minutes out by sublight 2000km by standard galactic hour."

"Alright boys saddle up! Bring me some shields and rotate us on vertical axis 180 degrees. Prepare firing solution for broadsides. Standard static gunline, big ones in the middle, smaller at the end. Keep the artillery cruiser nose forwards!"

Order of Battle:
x2 carnage-class heavy frigates, x3 deluge class frigates, x5 mendacity class corvettes.

Combined Firepower: 165 capital guns, 10 warhead launchers, 150 defense guns
Combined hanger count: 48 GU-54 bombers
Total size (meters): 2874m

Formations:

The mendacity-class corvettes are in a spaced out line formation at the front to maximize their long-ranged heavy ion cannons. The carnage-class frigates are in a column formation, with the rear vessel elevated slightly above the other to maximize combined firepower on the long-ranged mass-driver cannons. The final group, the deluge-class frigates are stationed in echelon formation near the left flank. All fighters remain in the bay, ready to launch.

Stage 1 strategy:

The mendacity-class corvettes are intended to keep the larger warships at bay, attempting to force them to utilize their fighters first due to the long-ranged heavy ion cannons. The carnage-class frigates are then meant to maintain stations before closing in their guns on larger vessels supporting the enemy fighters. The Deluge-class frigates are ordered to focus on defensive maneuvers only and awaiting orders.

Precedence:

One of the vanguard fleets ordered to search the galaxy had found its way on the other side due to failures in jump calculations; with consumables low and ammo high their mission is simple: Wreak havoc and fight for the glory of their Gods. Zealous and eager to kill, the small fleet is ready to do whatever it takes -- victory or defeat. There's no returning, there's no retreat. There is only the advance for The Primeval.

"All ships maintain formations.', the commanding officer said aboard his Carnage-class; they had received sensory data suggesting an enemy fleet is inbound and by the looks of it they have some heavy hitters trailing with them. The Umbaran captain was ready to give his life for the greater glory of The Primeval.

"Sir enemy vessels closing in!"

Colaps eyes squinted even smaller as he scanned the viewports. The Artillery frigates massive hyper-velocity cannon was already powered up and ready to roll. As the enemy fleet came into formation Colap realized he might need to manoeuvre more elements to react but for now he would hold position.

"Marders arm torpedoes and fire tubes one through two, ten proton torpedoes each, Adamith fire into the echelon formation let em have it!"

The large Artillery frigates hyper-velocity cannon boomed a silent beat in the void. Orange streaks raced towards the enemy as rapid fire proton torpedoes sailed away into the darkness, closing in on their prey. The Interdictors were in holding pattern.

"Weapons away sir, any other orders?"

"All firing solutions for the echelon formation, get me solid solutions and power up all Stardstroyers weapons, shields forwards and strap in boys, it's gonna get crazy!"

Colap had no doubt these were the Prime-evil. The fabled monsters of the void. His cigar

blazed a mighty cherry and smoked wafted from his nostrils lazily upwards. He gripped the railing with his black spacer gloves. The battle was met!

The battle had begun. The streaks of projectiles heading towards the Deluge-class frigates , the defensive weapon emplacements aboard the ships, and those from the left flank mendacity corvettes fired against the volley, destroying some number of the projectiles but even still a few made it through the barrage of lasers and smashed into the hull of the forward member of the echelon formation. Inside the ship a loud groan shook throughout the vessel, although some of the blow was soaked by the shields -- nearly at half capacity now -- parts of the reinforced armour on the ram rod had been torn away revealing the true hull, another blow like that could be severe. In response to the assault one of the Mendacity-class corvettes fired up its main gun, launching a streak of blue ionized particles across space at rapid speeds towards the artillery cruiser. 10 gu-54 bombers launched from the 20 that came out of the mendacity-class line. The vessels were fast in a straight-line and targeted the enemy's corvettes, to prevent another blow from torpedoes like earlier. Those who weren't destroyed by their defenses would either narrowly avoid collision or do just that, smash into the enemy hull.

The two carnage-class vessels charged up their mass-drivers, preparing to release a combined volley of 12 projectiles against the enemy fleet, a powerful weapon that hurls through space.

"Shields of the Artillery frigate took a hit Cap'n, hanging at seventy percent, their firing!"

"Brace yourselves men!"

Colap grabbed the railing as projectiles smashed against the Shields of the fleet. Stray hit his own shields but were easily disintegrated. The marders were not so lucky, one lost it's shielding completely and another took projectiles through the shields into its hull. Colap looked both ways assessing the situation. The enemy had launched their bombers towards his heavy hitter. That was a problem.

"All hands, scramble our fighters, intercept course on bombers. Point defences prepare solutions and hold them off. Helmsman, bring both Iterdictines to flank her."

"Cap'n firing solution on enemy echelons complete, shall we?"

"Aye fire our turbolasers!"

The bridge rocked as the tubrolasers from the Destroyers opened up, renting the space with savage streaks of green. Sixty shots in all sailed towards the Deluge class vessels.

"Tractor beams, try and slow their bombers approach!"

The klaxons on board wailed as the crew scrambled frantically about. Within the hangars pilots slammed the cockpits of their fighters shut, preparing their final preflight checks and firing their engines.

"Where's my fighters!"

"Five mikes till launch, aligning tractor beams now."

Each Destroyer packed ten beams, which meant the twenty beams criss-crossed as they shot out at reverse polarity, attempting to slow the bombers until colap could launch his fighters. The Flak cannons from the destroyers spit molten shrapnel in their path and he gritted his teeth.

On board the Wounded Marders the crew recyled the torpedo tubes, loading a fresh wave of ordinance as damage control teams scrambled to repair the hull fractures in the most wounded one.

Half of the bombers were slowing down from the tractors before speeding up and the other half slowing down. This tactic was working well against them but there was still a gap for a few to escape through and make course now and again. The remaining 38 gu-54's launched and banked hard around the right flank , turning slowly into flanking against the enemy's left. Meanwhile the Deluge-class frigates received orders to approach the enemy's right flank from their own left in a pincer-maneuver. The front two-deluge frigates took a hit from the blast, the leading one was crippled and its shields dropped but was able to soak up most of the barrage. Unfortunately the crippled leader was unable to do much but maintain course, its weapons systems offline and much of the frame exposed with no shields and little armour. The derelict ship would run course, allowing the other two to use it as extra-cover. The following mendacity-class corvettes each fired their long-ranged heavy ions, at least four directed at the Interdictors , followed by a volley of projectiles from the Carnage-class heavy frigates. 12 projectiles hurled their way into the heart of the enemy fleet.

"Maintain stations!", the officer shouted aboard one of the carnage-class frigates. The same captain from earlier had executed his game plan, only time would tell on the outcomes.

"Ion fire incoming!"

Colap kept a death grip on the railing as the ion fire smashed the shields. Red lights began to whir across the bridge as the whole battle-plan went to hell. The projectile cannons of the enemy fleet crashed into the shields, three breaking through completely and blossoming like deadly lotus upon the hulls of his Star Destroyers. Colap cursed as the lights on his panels went red.

"Damage in decks one through five, section alpha, bravo, charlie, delta."

"Scramble damage control teams, de-pressurize decks before they arrive." It was a costly gamble but it would save lives and extinguish any fires on the decks. Unfortunately brave men and women would be sent into space to their doom.

"Fighters away, all fighters are a go!"

"Defensive posture, I want all fighters to make runs on the remaining bombers!"

The Adamith had a few more tricks up her sleeve as well. Colap formed a quick revision to his battle plan but first he needed all the facts. To his left and right he could see the Marders were taking an extreme pounding.

"Sit rep!"

"Marder one, shields at twenty percent, marder two no shields hull integrity is seventy percent and holding, Adamanitne is sixty percent on shields, Destroyers at seventy percent on shields, Ravens Revenge sixty percent on hull, all weapons green, all fighter launched, orders sir?"

"All turbolasers fire on the approaching vessels on our flanks, Marders set course and bearing towards the enemy fleet, dump remaining torpedoes. Admamantine, turn bearing 75 degrees, fire all hyper-velocity cannons into approaching vessels, fire heavy proton torpedoes as well. Flak cannons Destroyers one and two, fire on the bombers, tractor beams redirect to the approaching vessels, let em have it!"

"Aye sir, relaying now."

The Adamanitine rocked as all three of her hyper velocity cannons fired into the approaching Deluge class, followed by her three heavy proton torpedo launchers.

30 Mynock class Fighter launched on intercept course for the bombers as fields of flak took their paths by surprise. All weapons boomed across the fleet. More streaks pummelled towards the enemy deluges as the turbolasers of the Destroyers and Admantine frigate unleashed another deadly volley,
