True Evil

Scruffy Lookin’ Nerfherder
Eyes the pallor of volcanic flame stared at the bound figures before him. The room was poorly lit, save for a garish light directed upon the sweating individuals of all shapes, sexes and sizes who were chained to a series of poles. Dûvain's gaze never wavered from their terrified looks, drinking in the pure fear that leaked from their confusion and mmm a sense of innocence. His red stare tracked every bead of sweat, every widened eye, until at last he turned away to regard a holocamera that floated in the air.

Dûvain rarely sought a high profile, yet the actions of the Forceless Future Society had left him vexed. Sorely vexed. Their pathetic quibbling and atrocities were utterly delicious, but they did it in response to petty, absurdist rationalism. They wished to demonize Force Users? Well, Dûvain would give them a demon.

"Forceless Future Society," he spoke in reverberating tones that thrummed with deep power. The holocamera would pick up on everything and transmit the video throughout the holonet. "Your actions have intrigued me. Brash and cruel beyond measure, the actions of lesser beings, who desperately struggle against evolution. You are obsolete. Yet your futile struggles to cling to existence prove some measure of amusement."

Dûvain held up a clawed hand, coalescing a sphere of raw energy that crackled with aphotic power. "I found a bounty for your capture, yet I find such routine acts utterly banal. Capturing or executing you would not cause the pain I seek. So I found some of your lesser underlings, peons. Expendables. I ripped the information from their minds. With the Force, of course. Ah, and now... now you can see them, strapped to those poles. And beside them? Those are their families."

The Hybrid hurled the sphere of energy toward one of the poles and the chains simply disintegrated from the blast, freeing several of the alleged peons. Dûvain turned back to the camera.

"Fear not, I have set them free. In body. But in mind they are still mine.'

The bodies of the FFS agents twisted and wrenched awfully, their faces contorting as they stalked toward their families.

"The Force allows me to control their minds. Shall we watch what I can do with it."

And with calculated cruelty Dûvain urged the beings to begin murdering their own family. With their bare hands.

"Why?! WHY?!" Screamed a woman in helpless terror.

Dûvain regarded her with a frank stare. "Because, I want to see what happens next."

It took several minutes, but at last they were all dead. Dûvain had had the agents kill themselves at the end of it. They'd almost looked grateful. The holocamera shut off and Dûvain destroyed it as well in a blast of energy. Then the very air warped, as though heated, and Dûvain simply disappeared.

Hyde sat on a throne of stone in his private castle in the mountains of Ession, he watched unphased as his men and their families were killed. There wasn't a shred of anger, fear, disgust, there was nothing. Hyde simply sat there and watched from every last scream to every drop of blood his face never wavering from his holoscreen. He couldn't of cared less about the lives of his men or their families, they were simply pawns in this game of chess his only regret over their pitiful lives was that their deaths did not come as a use for him, they did not accomplish anything, it was simply a waste. So Hyde reached to his side and grabbed a glass of wine and pulled it to the slot on his mask. Taking a short pull from it he set it back down and let out a simple sigh.

"Bring me our camera team, five younglings, and our chief intelligence officer." Hyde said in a very calm and collected voice.

A few moments went by and standing in a straight line beneath his throne were five Jedi younglings, and by his side were the chief and junior intelligence officers of the Forceless Future Society. The camera crew started up and began streaming to the holonet, there was no hidden signal, no encryption, Hyde was always honest about where he was based, and that was Ession.

"It appears we have someone who fancies himself truly evil. A demon." Hyde said from his throne and looked down at the younglings.

"There is no good or evil in this galaxy, there are simply problems and solutions to those problems. The force is a cancer, a cancer that makes people believe they have power. That they are demons and gods." Hyde paused.

"No." he stated simply.

"Let me show you what power is." Hyde reached into his cape and threw a heavy blaster pistol to the ground.

The pistol hit the ground with a clatter and the younglings stared at it for a moment thinking about going for it. Hyde simply shot a cold and sharp look at them with his eyes and their backs immediately stiffened as a cold chill ran down their spines.

"Officer Riggs, pick up the pistol, execute the children, then put the pistol beneath your chin and pull the trigger, you have failed me." the officer simply bowed and picked up the pistol.

Over the course of the next minute the younglings were put to death one by one by a simple blaster bolt to the back of the head, and when it was over the officer put the pistol to his head and shouted.

"DEATH TO THE FORCE!" the sound of the blaster going off echoed through the halls and the man's limp dead body fell to the ground to join the younglings in the next life.

"That is power. You are the problem, and I am your solution. When you are ready to come prove your worth I'll be here. And do bury my men and their families, rather rude for anyone else who has to smell them." Hyde took another pull from his glass and the transmission cut off.

From somewhere far, cold and distant, Dûvain watched the holofeed... and smiled. Cruelly, the man had snuffed out the lives of the children with muted shots of the blaster. Dûvain drank the slaughter in, though he found the thirst for more mindless butchery could not be slaked.

"Yes," he hissed to an empty, frigid room. "Give me more."

The others, the people who cared about things like the lives of younglings, would no doubt retaliate in vicious retribution, furthering the cycle of wanton violence. And Dûvain would be here, watching it all unfold.

Pursuit of power was a vapid and vacuous endeavor. Watching the galaxy fall apart was far more entertaining.

He had of course left the bodies of the Forceless Future Society to rot. Their desiccating stench would be a parting gift to whatever sad fools found them.

Deep within the bowels of some icy planet, Dûvain chuckled.
