"To think that that the Republic stretched out to this far edge of the galaxy, so long ago," he said, eyeing up the senate building of the Old Republic that still stood, repurposed from its original intentions, "A different time, a different Republic."

He had to be careful with how these words came out, though his present company (very important company for their intentions) didn't know enough of the right things to think anything about it. Perhaps her illiteracy was some blessing, should curiosity grab ahold of her - she would be unable to understand the most telling of entries in his journals. He turned to [member="Choli Vyn"], and slipped his left hand into a pocket. Robes were eschewed for this.

"How's your sensing?"

This was a huge piece. The basic idea laid down at first had been expanded on, over the past many months. They were here in search of something (tipped off by the First Master of Knowledge, [member="Jorus Merrill"]) that would need the utmost of the trust between them to be retrieved. Something that required participation from them both, and might change much for their kind. That was the hope, if it could be survived.

'It comes and goes," Choli would quip back with a wiggle of her nose, the tip which had a smudge of grease smeared across it. In her usual dull tan mech jumper, the padawan was a skinny little thing. All legs and arms. Yet she had grown much since she began her training under Master Morlandt, and while she may seem a bit on the thinner side, there was some tone to her muscle, some dexterity in her stride.

Not to mention it helped being on the smaller side to get up in those cramped areas of the ship to fix things.

"Getting better; though reckon i do a whole lot more with some kind of white noise in the background. Need the hum of the engines lulling me, reckon so." or it was just a mental block of some sort that she would need to work through.
"So what are we gonna do?" she asked him, grabbing a small scrunchie in her hand. Fingercoming her hair up into a ponytail, the Epicanthix would curiously peer at her master.

He listened to her explain, and nodded when she was done. Her words were in line with what he'd observed. She had been diligent as possible in keeping up with her training, what with the work she did aboard the 'Hawk, and he was glad the very first of his students was this way.

"We're going desert-combing, in a way," he replied, turning away from the has-been senate building to peer towards what of the desert he could spy beyond the edge of the city, dunes peeking up over the lower structures, "there's something we need to find - yes, need - and I can't do it alone."

A fond smile was directed her way.

"I should be doing fewer things alone, for your sake. What kind of master would I be, otherwise? There's something to be learned in everything we do, Choli. Everything."

Rhetorical question. He stepped off, moving away from the building.

"Come, let's find ourselves a speeder to rent. As important as the journey is compared to the destination, getting lost in the desert on foot isn't in my plans for today."

"Alright..." although it was certain that there was a bit of wariness to Choli's voice. This was something, she'd muse, bright brown eyes staring up at the temple before them. Lothal. From Chloe's stories, this used to be a secret Jedi temple long ago. A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away type of deal.

At that musing, Choli visibly would perk up.

"So how exactly are we going to find... whatever it is we are looking for?" she would ask him, turning up to glance at her master. A stiff breeze would prompt the rising of goosebumps along her skin, and she gave her hands a quick rub.

The wariness, he heard, and it was understandable. What he proposed sounded all too much like wandering in the desert, blind, and doubt tried to weasel into his own psyche, as well. He breathed in, his eyes closing a moment, and breathed out. No, there had to be faith and trust in the Force, this he knew, as he ran through his thoughts to recall where it was he had seen the rental place while wandering from where Chloe had dropped them off and into the city to see if the city had any remaining resemblance to what lay in memories that weren't his own.

"There's no map, and at best a vague idea of the where that we are to find," he admitted, "to get the what, which will be a boon to the presently disparate Jedi."

He gave her a thin smile.

"Or so I'm told," he said, giving indication of the skepticism that had been dogging him - despite knowing that Jorus was in many cases 'on the money' about these things, "now, I'll need your help picking out a good speeder; that seems to be your area of strength, and not mine."

He stopped when he said this, gesturing to the speeder rental place, at the end of the street they'd just turned onto.

"You think you can do that?"

At that request, Choli immediately perked up. Her head rose and she gave an ear splitting grin. "Yup!" she said rather cheerfully, perhaps with a touch of cockiness? Choli had a natural affinity towards mech and tech work, and perhaps it was that pride of skill that made her come across a bit forward when it came to such topics.

Never get her in a discussion about Kuati versus Corellian made ships.

The speeder shop held few patrons, which was good. Meant Cho could take her time and wander straight to where she wanted to without interruption. A scowl of introspection wound its way over her face, before it suddenly smoothed over with a brightened smile.

Ah-hah!

Weaving her way towards, Choli came to the JA-3 speeder. "This should work well" her head would pan to find the vendor.

Now what to barter....
