Life seemed to be fond of throwing the unexpected at her as of late. As far as she had thought, she believed without a doubt that her next steps after leaving her job would be decided all on her own, enacted all on her own. The problem was that she didn't have the foggiest clue where she would go next, sitting on that beach on Amfar. Didn't know that she'd meet someone, go travelling, and somehow manage to stay out of trouble. @[member="Token Waters"] was a good companion, and it was great to not be utterly alone as she has expected would happen. It was fun, definitely a new and very different experience for her.

Coruscant was yet more of the unexpected. Shopping was primarily the plan between them both, and otherwise doing obligatory things, and fun things. Sometimes, Token's definition of fun was not at all the same as Sindy's, but the girl from Cularin could get used to it. Differences were to be celebrated. Like when Sindy went to the technological conventionhttp://starwarsrp.net/topic/23093-plug-it-in-and-change-the-world/ this morning and came out of it with… something that she needed to talk to Token about. But that was a discussion to be had over dinner later.

Right now they were headed to the library at the University of Coruscant, after a delicious lunch. There was something Token needed to do there, and Sindy was perfectly okay with sticking her nose in technical manuals and the like. Sometimes it was like time-travelling, reading some of those manuals, seeing how things used to be made, and what went into them, when she did not have any way of accessing the real thing. Sometimes the best ideas gave a nod of acknowledgement and respect to the things that came before.

“So, I’ll be amongst all the so-called ‘dry stuff’, okay?” She said to Token, as they entered the campus library. “You do what you need to do and come and find me when you’re done?”

Agreeable, Token and Sindy went their separate ways. It didn’t take long for Sindy to pull a few tomes off the shelves and find an empty table, quickly engrossing herself in her reading.

The University of Coruscant, more specifically the library. That was one place Jared had never expected himself to be found, but here he was. For once he had a reason for being at an opportune place at a convenient time, an appointment for certain business dealings with Santhe Corporation had run a foul. To be expected really, the Republic was quite unstable at this point in time.

They really should re-brand themselves to the Dark Republic, and to his shame he could not help but snicker at that thought. Worst pun ever. In any rate, after the meeting was canceled Jared decided to do some sight-seeing. The fuel had already been spent, so why not take an opportunity to get to know the Upper Levels of Coruscant on a more intimate level?

And that was the story of how Jared Ovmar ended up in a dusty book-filled building, in a digital-era where most information should be stored... well digitally anyway.

Then again, who cared about ratio these days.

Aimlessly he wandered through the vast halls and explored every corner of it. In the end he hoarded five or six books to the tables and then saw a pretty lady. Story of Jared's life, wherever he goes he -has- to meet a beautiful girl.

With some grace and nonchalance he walked up to the girl and smiled.

“Good day, is this seat taken?”

Sindy had her metaphorical nose wedged deep in a text on generational ships. It was admittedly hard to imagine a time without hyperspace travel, without the help of historical accounts and narratives. Her late grandfather, Papa Marezius, had given her a respect for history through his many stories from the history of the Jedi, some from his own experience, others passed down, or recorded in the annals of the Jedi. She remembered it all... but she was unsure the Jedi were for her. She knew she had to do something more about being trained in the Force, and it had become readily apparent this morning that it would be of great use to do so.

At some point, she was expecting Token to be done, to come and find her. However, she honestly wasn't expecting anyone else to come around. Certainly not anyone she didn't know... which was exactly what happened. A voice broke into her seeming reverie, and dragged her eyes away from the page, searching for its source. She looked at the man and blinked, as his words caught up in her thoughts and the realization that this was not the first time today that she had been approached, for whatever reason, by someone not only unfamiliar but male. It was becoming one of those days. She wondered what Token would think of it.

"Um..." She glanced over to the other side of the table, which was in fact devoid of an occupant, then flicked her gaze back to the dark-haired man, starkly different looking from the one she had encountered this morning. Still, much like Marek Starchaser, this one didn't appear to have any intent that was... concerning. "...no, it's not."

A practised smile fell into place on her visage, and she gestured to the other side of the table, withdrawing her hand as she spoke again.

"Please, sit if you like."

There were a variety of books that had interested him, granted the more interesting pieces of knowledge would only be found in the Jedi Temple and other places like that. Such was the way of the Jedi, to hoard and hide their wisdom. To restrict the knowledge that could benefit the many. To-- but now was not the time to get angry about things, he could not change anyway.

Most books he had been able to find where mostly esoteric in nature, what was the Force? How did it came to be? Why was there suddenly such a big influx of Force Sensitive Users in the Galaxy, after centuries of minorities? Those were all very good questions, but there had been one specific book that had interested him.

The Force and the Laws of Physics.”

It first detailed the more simple definitions of physics and then elaborated on the more difficult problems. Then it turned it all around and brought it in relationship with the Force itself. Truly fascinating, this was -the- way to refine the control you had over the Force Alteration powers. Jared was sure of it.

But he first had to figure out the how.

At least, if he was able to keep his mind by the book. Instead of the girl.

Thank you, my Lady.”

As he took the seat and sat down across her. It became pretty clear that the girl was not overly interested in his attention, she seemed to be uneasy. Though Jared did not quite understand why, was there something on his face? Did he reek of something? Those were all very good questions, but impossible to answer right now with her in front of him. He would have to wise up, up his game and pretend nothing was out of the ordinary. Maybe she would like him, despite... -something-.

As he was reading the book he unwillingly started to project his presence onto the room. Something that sometimes happened when he was getting excited over something. Soon he would uncover it. And it being a variable, because he had no clue what he was searching for.

But there had to be something in the book, he was sure of it.

She watched him with pale silver-blue eyes, as he half-circled to the other side of the table and pull into a seat, mildly curious as to why he had chosen to share her table rather than any other table in the entirety of the library, countless numbers of them having only one occupant as hers had, until she had politely acquiesced to his request. There was always a risk, in her mind, in entertaining the wants of men. More risk than any other female would perceive. She wasn't any other female. On the point of stereotype, she hardly qualified, but had enough education in costuming herself to blend into the stereotypes of the upper class, or otherwise. And she had learned to be comfortable with the clothes.

Her eyes returned to her book, trying to find at what sentence she had stopped before being interrupted, but her focus once broken took up to twenty minutes to regain, and after trying to get back into the reading for a good five minutes, she gave in, the curiosity caused by the appearance of this strange man overtaking her.

"You don't look like a student." She said in the hushed volume accepted in libraries, leaning over her book, her brow creasing. "In fact, you don't look like someone who goes to libraries at all. So it begs the question: why are you here?"

Sure, that may have sounded ever-so-slightly rude, and she felt ever-so-slightly bad for it, but what was this guy doing here? He stuck out like a sore thumb.

"And... sorry, do you have a name?"

Here he was, trying to figure out the mysteries of the Force and its relationship with the laws of physics, when the girl started to speak to him. As he poked his nose out of the book, and regarded her for a second; his brow furrowed. It seemed fairly clear to him, he was here trying to read a book.

It did not come to his mind that it might be taken as weird, if you walk into a library and decide to sit with a girl.... while being surrounded by empty tables.

Then again, Jared was a special person, with special needs.

“I shall try to not be offended, miss. It does beg the question, do you always try and antagonize people, or only the handsome ones that decide to sit in front of you?”

Satisfied with his reply, Jared took his attention back to his book. It seemed there was a correlation between the friction of sand, and the direct force there was needed to make a tunnel. Fascinating.

At that, a blush shot furiously up her cheeks, but she didn't even try to hide it, she couldn't look away now. Not only had [member="Jared Ovmar"] called her out on the attitude of her words, but he had also drawn attention to his own pleasing physical aesthetic in one fell swoop. It was much harder to ignore things like that when they were simply, boldly brought out into the open.

"Better that you are handsome than not," she said, hushly blurting the words with a slight snap, immediately feeling sorry for her tone and her next words were less sharp, but striped with light guilt from her sorriness that brought an unintentionally false air of confession to them, "At least that way it is easier to look at you when you speak."

Then, and only then did her eyes drive quickly back down to the book she had been trying to read.

As a reply the Lady only got a lazy grin, which made his face lighten up. It was the only reaction she would get right now. It was clear to Jared that the woman had had some kind of negative experience with the manly folk, or maybe she just hated them for funs.

Mattered it not, because the man was here to read a book. Sitting with a beautiful girl, was just the cherry on a tasty pie. It need not to go anywhere, to be pleasurable.

Right then, back to the book, before being interrupted so rudely. The Force was the power of Creation itself, but even it had to hold itself to the Laws of Thermodynamics. Energy didn’t disappear somehow, and neither did it just appear.

You gotta convert it, it seemed.

So let’s just say.. if you want to create ice, you can’t just whip it up out of nowhere. You gotta take away the warmth and heat out of the air, it seemed. But where does that excess of warmth go? That’s anyones guess…

If Jared was anything, it was a lad who loved to be experimental. So, while reading the appropriate passage, he extended his hand a bit and opened his hand. His palm was facing the roof of the library. Jared started to draw the warmth away from the immediate area of his palm.

He could feel it starting to become colder, and colder. The warmth coursed through his body, and on instinct his other hand started to casually dissipate the warmth into the air.

Ice started to form, hovering above his extended hand. At first it was only a little lump, nothing to artsy. He closed his eyes, and imagined it to be something else. The Force was the power of Creation itself, and it bended to the will of a powerful practitioner.

It was more instinct than anything, but he willed it to become a little flower and so it became just that. A little rose of ice.

Of course, this little trick was nothing more than that, in real battle… a flower would be useless. Nevertheless, he was pleased with himself.

Especially considering the fact that nothing was set on fire.

“A rose for a rose.”

Then he stood up, leaving the book there for now. There had to be more knowledge here, knowledge was power.

That grin, oh dear... it... oh, never mind, she thought, her brow knitting tightly as her eyes worked over the words on the page. She found herself beginning to wonder what kinds of books that Token was sticking her nose in, and what Token would think of this man sitting across from her. Token would probably say all the things that Sindy had in her mind but would not speak, and then some.

“A rose for a rose.”

She blinked, and looked up, her eyes slowly travelling across the table, and landing upon a rose... of ice.

How... She touched it lightly with her fingers, and glanced to where this man should have been, but he was no longer seated. She sought [member="Jared Ovmar"] out, only to see him disappear again into the stacks... for a rose?

Her eyes darted to the icy construct, again, the blush still rather alive in her face, as her mind worked on the matter of where, exactly, had this little rose come from while she had been half-attempting to hide her face. Her brow softened, but her mind still worked.

Well, it's kind-of obvious... if I'm right. But how did he accomplish it? And for that matter, what is his name?

Sadly it would have to stay a mystery now, because the man with no name was nowhere to be found to answer any questions just now. For once in his life, he was more interested in finding more answers to the questions he had, instead of trying to flirt with a girl. Which was something unique in itself. Jared didn’t actually realize that, as he strolled through the various departments and looked around.

**

My eyes spotted a pretty girl reading a.. cooking book. Hot dayum, ain’t I a hungry fella just no-- Focus Jared Ovememeaar, you have important research to do. Girls can wait for today. As I said, unique situation.

Then I saw it. The Books of Books. Though it was more of a little scroll, muffled away by some.. technical manuals? Huh. Strange. Anyway, when my inner-eye caught that scroll, I knew I had hit the jackpot.

It radiated the Force, which was kinda.. silly? I mean, if it did that, why hadn’t anyone bothered to remove it? Weird stuff. Regardless, my luck! I scrambled over to it, grabbed it and sat down cross-legged. This gon be gud.

The icy rose had slowly begun to melt, but Sindy had gone back to her book and tried to concentrate on the words only to find that her focus was completely gone. She sighed, closed the book, and stood up from the chair she was seated in.

I should go find Token. Whoever he was, he's not here to be bothered, really... and neither am I.

She gathered up the book and shifted it into her satchel. She was still planetside for another couple days, so she would have time to mentally ingest its pages before they left. Still... she left the table, and walked slowly past the stacks, peeking down each aisle until she found him. She stopped, and looked at him. He was so concentrated on whatever he was reading now and she didn't really want to disturb him then, but...

"Ah... so, it was nice meeting you," she said to [member="Jared Ovmar"]. It never hurt to be polite. "but I never got your name."
