Two Steps Forwards, No Steps Back (Juniper Madeera)

Location: Landing Pad on Voss-Ka

George had recently reached Knighthood, and with more power, comes more responsibilities. Like training more Padawans to Knighthood. This is a major step for George, meeting his first Padawan. The rolls had changed and George was getting some butterflies in his stomach as he touched down his YT-2400 on the of the landing pads in Voss. He asked for his new Padawan to meet him there, where they would head off and explore and train. What they were going to do and where they were going to do it hadn't really crossed his mind. But plenty of holo emitters were on board. Just in case he ran out of ideas.

As the ship landed and the landing gear descended George made his way down the ramp with his grey coloured robes with both of his lightsabers by his side. A aqua coloured on on his left hip and a shiny silver one on his left. He was a competent duellist and would hopefully transfer this knowledge onto his students. As his feet touched the ground the day was warm and the sun was beating down. George had managed to occupy the shade created from his ship. Keeping him somewhat cool with the nice breeze that was flowing through. The view of Voss-Ka was magnificent and the smile that dawned his face was huge. I have to wonder how this Padawan will go. He thought, knowing that he had never stood face to face with this padawan.

Juniper would finally be getting a full time master. The near-human was beginning to become giddy despite his inner pleas not to do so. His hand impatiently tapped against his thigh as he made his way to one of the multiple launch pads, once again hoping to himself that he was going to the correct one. He knew what his master looked like from their brief conversation in order to achieve a meeting place, but he still didn't really have a feel about who exactly was this nautolan. He didn't seem much older than Juniper was. He'd just have to wait until he met him

Jun turned the corner on the docks, his hand running across the lightsaber hilt as he always did when he got nervous or impatient, which was more often than he'd like to admit. As he turned to the landing pad, his first sight of his new master came into view. Huh. The hologram made him imagine his master looking bigger. Jun wondered what the proper etiquette was when meeting someone who was going to teach you countless things and make you a better person all round. So, he gently pulled down on his robes and speed-walked to the opposing ship.

As George waited his nerves kicked in, his thoughts running through his head. How will this go? Will I be an alright teacher? It was all a new experience for him but something he needed to do. As a figure turned towards him walking briskly towards him he thought that must have been him. George stood there with his hands crossed in front of him. Resting just below his waist. Both lightsabers hanging from his side and smile on his face. Not a great big smile, but enough to not seem unhappy.

As the person got closer George spoke. "Welcome, I take it you are Padawan Juniper? I will be your Master. Jedi Knight George O Rourke. It is nice to meet you." As the man approached. He did not seem much younger than himself. He seemed thin, but reasonably fit from what he could see. Only time will tell... He thought to himself. The force seemed strong in this one, but whether or not he could harness it was a different matter.

Juniper caught his new master's smile and found that it loosened the knot in his stomach ever so slightly. He was glad that even a little bit of his anxiety was relieved. It was an odd moment to meet someone he knew was going to pretty much control everything he learned for the next... well he wasn't sure for how long. All he could think of was a long while. Jun returned the pleasant smile, wondering when they would be past the slightly awkward necessary pleasantries. He hoped it would be soon.

When he heard the other Jedi's voice, he thought he sounded very different than he had originally imagined. "That would be me, Master. The pleasure is all mine." He replied, bowing slightly in respect.

Even just standing in front of the knight, he could feel the difference in their strength. He expected he would have a lot to learn

As the young Padawan replied and bowed respectfully. George bowed his head in return. "Alright, well lets get going. There will be plenty of time for training the temples on Voss, but for today. We'll be heading off world. Are you ready for that?" He said with a smile before motioning for the Padawan to board the ship before turning to enter the ship also. It was his cosy YT-2400, his fathers and something he loved. He would rather use his own transport than using one of the Coalition, just because, well he could.

As he turned back and walked up the ramp into the ship he couldn't help but to think of how his training would go. The young Padawan that stood before him seemed to be willing to learn, something George felt was necessary for this relationship to work. But first thing is first, George would need to find out how much training if any his Padawan had received before knowing where to start.

At the thought of getting off of Voss for the first time in the better half of his lifetime, Juniper couldn't help but let his respectful smile grow to a full out grin. He didn't hide his excitement that had used to be dread, leading himself on board.

"Oh you have no idea how ready I am for that Master." Juniper replied fairly cheerily as he stepped inside the starship, pushing his messy hair out of his eyes in order to observe the ship even better. The small grin didn't go away and his expression wasn't that different than that of a child inside a sweet shop. Curiosity and wonder filled his eyes.

"Where will we be headed to, Master?" He asked, turning to face his teacher.

Listening to the excitement in his young Padawans voice as they entered it was a great feeling. But he did ask one interesting question, where would they be going? George was still undecided. There were so many planets around the areas of Coalition control and each one provided different benefits, threats and disadvantages. The winner in the end of George's thoughts was Kamar. A dry humid place that would be interesting for the Padawan to learn on.

"We are off to Kamar, my young Padawan. You heard of it before?" He said calmly as he made his way through the ship to the cockpit with his Padawan following close behind. "Its going to be hot, dry and windy. But I think you'll be up for it. You ready?" He turned to face the Padawan as he prepared the ship for take off.

During his long trips to the library in his free time, he had read about Kamar. Although it was inside a sub-passage under another sub-passage, he had read about it. From the knowledge that he had gathered from the short script, it was a planet full of bugs and dust and not much else. Juniper didn't really think Kamar when he thought training grounds. Well, he'd just have to put some faith in he new master.

"I've heard of it before. Although it is a bit of a shame. I packed tropical." Juniper joked lightly as he set himself in the seat beside the pilot's chair, overlooking the foreign controls in front of him. He hoped he wouldn't have the need to learn the use of all of them. Then he quickly realized he would most definitely need to learn them if he was to be able to get himself anywhere.

"Are you ready?"

Juniper was shaken from his slight stupor over the controls and simply nodded his reply.

Having a little laugh at the response from his new Padawan, it was good to hear. "Trust me, you have no idea how many times I got it all wrong. Plus being a Nautolan sand and heat isn't the best mix. So the first few times it took a while for me to get use to it. Almost a second home the desert is now... Regrettably. " He replied sounding cheerful all up till the end. Thinking back about his watery home planet...

But it was short last as the ship needed piloting and he was the one to do it. Steadily pulling the ship up into the sky the cabin rattled and rolled as the gravity weighted in against the ship. Nothing unusual but to many it put them off flying. George on the other hand seemed comfortable behind the stick. His skill as a pilot wasn't expert fighter pilot, but good enough to make it through a battle unscathed. Well most battles anyway. He tried not to put his baby through too much. He had plans to give her some upgrades in the future. But that is irrelevant.

"Now Jun, thats what you prefer correct? Tell me, what have you done so far on Voss? I also noticed your lightsaber, tell me a little more about it." He spoke as the ship entered the upper atmosphere and headed out of the gravity well of Voss. Ready to set off into hyperspace. It would be some time before they reached the planet, so George decided to take the time to get to know his new Padawan. Maybe even give a few lessons on the fly... Literally.

His smile grew at the thought of the amphibious humanoid surrounded by nothing but dust and rocks. Jun wasn't completely sure why it amused him, but it did. He turned his attention to his master again as he began to speak in order to turn his attention away to the sudden rocking of the spacecraft. Space travel never really liked the young ysanna ever since his abduction from the forest planet he was born on. His hand clenched slightly into a small fist, silently telling himself that this was completely normal during the exit of atmosphere.

He was glad that his master spoke, hoping it was ease his slight motion sickness.

"I learned mostly academics such as history. I'm adequate at the Ataru form. I can hold my own with it. Although mostly anything related to the force other than basic telepathy I am a novice." Jun said fairly confidently, faltering slightly towards the end of his words. When asked about his weapon, he pulled the sleek and barely adorned hilt from his side and presented it in front of him. "It's nothing special. Cyan blade with your average specs."

He clipped the hilt back by his side, glad that the ship was steadying itself out

With the ship exiting the gravity well and jumped to hyper George could now relax with the ship on auto pilot it wouldn't be hard to train the Padawan and keep an eye on the ships controls in case in the rare occasion that something went wrong. As he motioned for the Padawan to follow him to the main cargo bay of the ship. Where he had set up some holo emitters for his Padawan to start training. "Fancy some training on the fly?" He said with a laugh as he walked the corridors that lead to the cargo bay. "We'll need to get as much training in now before we reach the surface. It isn't going to be sunshine and butterflies thats for sure." He laughed again as he realized the irony in his last comment. Sunshine, of course there is going to be sunshine. Maybe too much of it. He thought to himself with a huge grin on his face. He was really enjoyed the Padawans company, but it was time to get to business.
