DESCRIPTION |
Aether Systems struck while the iron was hot, as the first batch of TX-150s rolled off of the production lines, the development of its successor had already begun, resulting in the TX-170 Hunter-class Fighter Tank. The TX-170 retains many of the design features of the TX-150, however, its purpose and role greatly differ in that the TX-170 was designed to serve in a purely anti-armor role and is classified as a tank killer. Ensuring that production was impacted as little as possible, the TX-170 was also designed to make use of the current chassis and components of the TX-150. Where the TX-170 differs from the TX-150 can be seen in its heavier armaments, specifically its Mass Driver Cannons which hurls a projectile at high velocities to inflict kinetic energy and force damage to a target. However, these weapons came at an extra cost, as the TX-170 is incapable of carrying additional passengers, and requires a skilled technician to be deployed with the vehicle to maintain the delicate firing systems of the Mass Driver Cannons. The TX-170 utilizes its speed and maneuverability in tandem with its heavier armaments to track down and engage enemy armor formations before retiring just as quickly as they arrived; with the most common tactic being to deploy the TX-170 in a hunting party to achieve greater success. However, much like the TX-150, the TX-170 still retains the weak spot of its predecessors, the rear door - which if struck can either disable or destroy the vehicle outright. The TX-170 was designed to overcome the inability of the TX-150 to engage enemy armor, however, this has come at a trade-off. While the TX-170 can handle smaller groups of enemy personnel, the vehicle can be easily overwhelmed or swarmed by larger numbers, often requiring additional infantry support when deployed against infantry-heavy formations. The TX-170 has only begun to roll off the production lines and into the hands of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force where it will be deployed by the ground forces of the Army, yet, it has already proven itself in testing to be just as reliable and nimble as its TX-150 predecessor. |
