OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The massive cargo capacity of the Starlight Shipyards Type-12 Superfreighter makes it an ideal choice for efficiently moving bulk freight from one place to another. Its primary defense however isn't in weapons at all, rather, these ships' tough hulls and shields plus speed, which when push comes to shove the ship's massive bulk can turn the ship into a massive kamikaze able to mangle a warship of almost any size if it impacts at full speed. However, like any experience Outer Rim shipyard Starlight knows that speed and toughness are not enough to guard the lives of the crew, each ship comes with a uniquely-placed set of armored and shielded saferooms to protect them from either locally or entirely-successful boarding attempts. With the assistance of former soldiers and imprisoned pirates the company went through dozens of iterations of these saferooms before they created the ultimate safe haven for a ship's crew to hole up in. From these saferooms the ship could theoretically be shut down entirely to keep it in position for a period of several weeks with the only thing able to reliably blast open the saferooms being a turbolaser or a powerful rail gun. Due to the ship's reliability, speed, and efficient load-carrying capacity and style these are very common ships to encounter over any Crossroads colony or even around the Terminus System, with many beginning to work their way into shipping fleets across the galaxy.
