SPECIAL FEATURES
- The Piercer's main characteristic is its use of flechettes as ammunition instead of bullets. Super-heated by a power cell inside of the weapon before firing, they are designed to penetrate armor.
- Superior Firepower: The super-heated metal flechettes are excellent when it comes to puncturing armor and flesh alike, allowing the weapon to punch above its dubious designation as a pistol. Although incapable of penetrating the tougher plating often used in vehicles or ships, it is more than capable of punching through the armor employed by heavy infantry.
- Bayonet: Most would call the extra weight of the underblade sitting below the main frame of the weapon to be a waste of resources, or a foolish design choice- but the fact of the matter is, it provides a very quick and responsive way to fend off an assailant in close quarters merely by shoving one's hand forward.
- A Marksman's Friend: Thanks to the rather unorthodox ammunition type used and the make of the weapon, the Piercer proves to be remarkably reliable in it accuracy for what is, essentially, a sidearm.
- Unwieldy: A trusty pistol this is not. The Piercer takes too long to draw for that and sits too heavily in the hand compared to a less exotic weapon.
- Make Those Shots Count: With only six flechettes inside of each magazine, a relatively slow rate of fire, and slightly awkward reloads, the Piercer is wholly unsuitable to a pitched firefight against an enemy out in force, or any other situation where accuracy is trumped by sheer volume of fire.
As an enterprising smith of her people and a tactician, Jenn Kryze was quick to note the inherent danger of tackling the Jedi with blasters - hardly a novel examination, to be sure, but that line of thought brought her to a secondary concern: facing a Jedi accompanied by conventional infantry as backup. Her newest project would thus need to be practical in the hands of a warrior, and capable of dispatching armored infantry just as well as the nimble lightsaber-wielding foe. The Type-25, lovingly dubbed the Piercer by its creator, was designed to achieve its fullest potential in the hands of seasoned veterans rather than young warriors with something to prove. In spite of a very limited ammo capacity and a slight kick preventing tap-firing in emergencies, the remarkable accuracy from short to medium ranges and the potential to dispatch targets with very few shots makes it a terrifying weapon of war when put in the hands of someone able to keep their cool when under fire
Or, perhaps a little more grimly, an executioner's dream.
