STRENGTHS
- Sealed: The vehicle has plenty of systems in place to keep the crew safe and allow them to fight in a variety of environments.
- Modular: The inside of the pod is designed to be easily modified for any type of equipment or passengers the pod needs to carry.
- Secure: With thick armour, shields, and countermeasures, the drop pod is very safe from danger.
- Adjustable: With both ion engines and maneuvering thrusters, the drop pod can quickly adjust course to stay on target.
- Launch: The pod is sturdy enough to be shot out of a cannon if needed, and it has a specialised nose to make entry through ship hulls quick and easy.
WEAKNESSES
- Steering: The pod is designed to be fired at a predetermined area, rendering the passengers inside unable to steer it themselves.
- Maneuver: The pod is designed to fly in a comparatively straight line, and can’t maneuver or move like a fighter.
- Defenses: Meant to be used for quick insertions into an area, the pod has no weapons onboard.
- Vulnerable: Despite the defenses, the passengers inside are vulnerable from the moment they leave their mothership until they interface with whatever location they are headed towards.
DESCRIPTION
A new method of quick infiltration for anyone that need it, the Type 72 is an orbital drop pod designed to carry a soldier or two, and their equipment, into a battlefield or the hull of a ship with blistering speed. A useful feature of the pod is its size, allowing the pod to be shot from a cannon if the calibre is large enough to house it.
It features a variety of systems and defenses to keep the vulnerable crew within as safe as possible in the long flight to their destination. It also has various survival equipment, rations and water in case they land somewhere they weren’t supposed to. This also allows the pod to be used as an escape pod if needed.
