- Armor Piercing Rounds: The rounds used for this gun are Phrik-tipped armor piercing rounds designed to puncture even some of the most durable armor hulls. Each round is projected with an electromagnetic force to assure maximum damage.
- Electronic Firing System: These rail guns are linked to an automated firing system that allows them to be set to coordinate with a starship's on board targeting computer. Once linked to the targeting computer all of the Rail turrets will fire in a sequence with the rest of the ship's weapon systems to deal the maximum damage possible.
- Hard-hitting rounds: These turrets are specifically designed to be used for an assault starship. Due to the armor piercing rounds and already devastating nature of Rail technology these guns are extremely effective against unshielded starships.
- Long Range Battery: These turrets are capable of reaching further targets than the standard gun system, their effective range is generally 1.5 more than the standard turbolaser or rail system.
- Slow Fire Rate: Due to the power needed to be dispersed into each individual shot, these gun systems have a slower rate of fire than most other Rail Systems.
- Manual Loading: Although each gun can maintain 800 rounds at a time, the reloading process is complex and time consuming. A single gun system cannot be reloaded in less than five minutes, which creates a generous lull in the firing order. Because of this it is best to utilize the guns in volleys, as opposed to combined firing orders.
The Crusader Rail System was the first fixed gun to be designed by Dynetech Industries. The focus was to create a heavy-hitting Rail gun that did not put stress on an assault cruiser's systems. The guns were designed to keep up a sustained rate of fire against enemy ships. With multiple guns in constant fire they would be able to cripple an undefended ship in short order. The guns are fitted with armor-piercing rounds, to ensure that each shot is not a wasted one. One of the most beneficial systems to come with the guns is an automated firing system that plugs into a warships targeting computer. Once hooked in to the targeting the computer the guns will automatically fire in-coordination with the starships other weapon systems, in an effort to deal the most damage possible.
