Description:
The Typhoon is the second installment of Blood Hunter's "Grand Hammerhead" class of vessels. While similar to it's predecessor in most capacities, the Typhoon's role is wholly different. The previous Grand Hammerhead, The Siege Breaker, was designed to punch through a blockade and deliver desperately needed troops and supplies to allied forces or installations. The Typhoon is designed to be that blockade. Either intentionally or through mere oversight, the previous Grand Hammerhead plays a much more support oriented role than it was meant to. The Typhoon takes great steps toward correcting those issues.
The Turbo-Laser Turrets around the hammer have been reevaluated and ten new turrets have been added to the nose to improve the otherwise abysmal forward fire power. Additionally, four Concussion Missile Tubes have been set to a forward fire arch to bring an extra bang to the fight. The other forward weapons operate as they did before. The two M.A.R.C. 1s fire an opening volley, intended to down weakened shields. The three Plasma Railguns fire one by one, ensuring accuracy and giving each bolt time to weaken the enemy hull. A one second delay takes place, in part this allows the plasma rounds to continue weakening the hull and it allows the M.A.R.C. 1s to finish their recharge cycle. The second volley from the heavy mass drivers fires on the sixth second. These rounds are highly likely to puncture the weakened hull, pulling super heated plasma in their wake and inflicting tremendous amounts of damage. This firing sequence is meant to be a ship killer, destroying otherwise crippled ship. That does not mean these weapons cannot be fired separately, in fact there is no reason not to keep up a relatively continuous stream of plasma fire.
The Hanger has been remodeled as well. Vast quantities of soldiers, Dropships and Tanks have been replaced almost completely. The Typhoon still boasts a Dropship, but now only one. It's role is primarily for ferrying goods and personnel from the ship to the planet and vice versa, as opposed to suddenly deploying hundreds of soldiers in one action. The Typhoon can still house a fair number of soldiers but only two hundred now. The main hanger floor now houses an Archon A Class Gunship, a squadron of Blood Dart Interceptors and a squadron of Heavy K-Wing Fighter Bombers. These small craft are meant to take the fight to the enemy with a mix of speed and sheer fire power.
