Strengths:
- Jack of all trades: The IGA-Mk1 is a standard all protecting suit design for the rank and file guardsman with no real specialization, as such it id made to deal with most attacks a standard solider would come in contact with in the field, that being blasters, slugs and the elements, natural or man made.
- Vital protection: Most of the harden plating is mainly covering the upper chest shoulders and head, this being to reduce weight but cover the vital areas that a solider would not be able to function without or is injured had a very low change of surviving.
- Environmental impact: Being made as a jack of all trades uniform set the armor is able to resist a wide range of elemental attacks and acid threats as it is expected to be used in many different environments.
- EMPs: The focus on physical protection has left the armor set weak to electronic attacks, this can disable the HUD and possible harm the weapons used by a guards man while in combat, significant reducing their fighting capability.
- Exposed Legs: Though the flak armor does protect the legs against the odd shot, shrapnel and so forth sustained hits to the material with render it void of protection and make the guardsman legs very vulnerable to serious injury.
- Saber Strikes: Being as most run of the mill soldiers are not expected to go up against Sith or Jedi the suit does not offer any major protection against them, only the cest plate has a decent change against deflecting such attacks but even still can only protect against one or two before it is slice clean through.
On arrival original perceptions of Tyhe was that of a uni-formal wasteland with little variation in the scenery of geography. Such thoughts were quickly put aside with the discovery of newly formed mountains, hills, other formations and the planet having adapted over the years resulting in the creation of deserts, frozen tundras steeps and other variety areas and climates. To make the most out of these regions most settlers and migrants to the world were posed to live in these climates, putting their skills to use in harvesting what natural recourse the planet could use in order to lower importation needs. As such many of the military regiments originally formed by the Imperium usually had costume made weapons and armor, depending on cultural norms, environment and general work practices.
Over time though many new migrants and refugees started to settle in relativity normal areas as these initial needs were meet, such areas not requiring or able to be equipped with the somewhat limited gear provided to the other regiments. This lead the Royal Armory devising a more standard issue combat suit for regiments and future guardsmen hailing from these areas with more normal climates and cultures as most settlers were from core and well built up planets. The largest of these regions was that of Caida (names after the New Republic Capital due to the area mainly be settles by refugees from core worlds after the fall of the Galactic Alliance.
With this in mind the R2D teams were able to make a reasonably protective guard armor set that was suitable in most environments and could be made in large numbers while, such a set being named the Carida Guard Armor as is was first supplied to the regiments raised in Caida. Over all the armor is a jack of all trades and has been made the iconic and standard issue suit for a majority of future regiments coming from Tythe.
