STRENGTHS
- Shield and Saber Buster: The Mongrel fires two projectiles with one coming a split second after the first. The first projectile is a cortosis shelled shield disruptor that upon coming into contact with a shield temporarily opens a small hole. The first projectile alone, should it come into contact with metal or flesh can cause significant damage, but the second projectile is a small explosive slug, that after entering the body expands slightly to cause it to stick within the victim only to explode a second later. The general idea is that no matter what protection someone has, that second bullet should hopefully deal significant damage.
WEAKNESSES
- A Bit Bulky: The Mongrel isn't particularly heavy, but it is large and difficult to maneuver quickly making it basically useless in any kind of close-range engagement.
- Vulnerable to EMP/Ion: Since the Mongrel is a rail gun it relies heavily on magnets and electricity, meaning any kind of EMP or Ion burst would make the weapon useless.
The Mongrel, perhaps the nastiest weapon developed by the U.T.N. and well deserving of its name. It was specifically designed upon the earliest scouts reporting Jedi, Sith, and the Shielding technology used by so many within this new galaxy. The concept of the force.. and especially lightsabers.. was something the Thraeda had never really grappled with. Yes there were experiments on their homeworld a couple of hundred years ago with telepathy and telekinetics but no real success. Yet seeing it before them and realizing most of their theories about it was wrong was a massive blow to the Thraeda scientific community aboard the colony ships. To the military, it proved a massive problem, one the Mongrel was designed to fix.
