---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :

Strengths:
  • Underwater Agility: As evidenced by their physiological structure, Blind Ones are incredibly agile in water, able to perform feats which less-bendy creatures wouldn’t be able to.
  • Noise Capacity: Since the Blind Ones live primarily underwater, they’ve developed the ability to create sound waves which will not only travel easier in water, but also farther. This means they can create pitches both above (ultrasonic) and below (subsonic) what most humanoids can hear. This also means that their vocal chords are capable of replicating some other humanoid languages.
  • Echolocation: Part of the reason why “c” and “k” are the only consonants in their language is because the Blind Ones use echolocation to detect their surroundings.
  • Hypersensitive Hearing: Though they don’t have your run-of-the-mill ears, per se, Blind Ones have hypersensitive auditory organs which allow them to hear the faintest of noises, even outside of water.
  • Force Sense: As part of their evolution in survival, every member of the species is Force Sensitive – but only so that they may use the ability “Force Sense”. Even then, the greatest capacity is usually adept level. That being said, it is possible for a Blind One to be able to make greater use of its Force Connection, but these individuals usually number 1 in 1000.
  • Water Pressure: They are able to withstand greater water/atmospheric pressure than most other humanoids, as most of their food source is found in deeper areas of water.
Personal: Like most members of his species, he has a wonderful singing voice!

Weaknesses:

  • Humidity: When aboveground, the Blind Ones secrete a mucous covering to keep their skin moist. In order to keep the mucous consistent, though, there must be a sufficient amount of humidity present. If not, then the mucous will start to dry up, which then leads to: skin cracking and peeling from dryness, and a musky, slightly unpleasant odour being given off.
A side effect of low humidity is the fact that, as the skin dries and cracks, the chances of a Blind One contracting an infection or virus increases substantially (particularly since their immune system, rarely having to deal with such things, is only average)

[*]Hypersensitive Hearing: Since their hearing is so acute, it is easy to incapacitate or even deafen a Blind One with just the right sound at just the right decibel outside of water, since the air isn’t able to cushion the ports of their auditory organs.
[*]Light Sensitivity: Spending their days primarily in the dark, the Blind Ones’ skins are highly sensitive to light exposure. While artificial light isn’t much of a problem (thanks to a mucous covering), natural light will cut right through it. The result is their skin turns red and starts to create boils. Eventually, after an extended amount of time of exposure a Blind One will actually burn up. As kind of a “screw you”, though, the burned carcass also releases a pungent smell which can cause those of weaker dispositions to lose their stomach contents.
[*]Atmospheric Pressure: As stated before, Blind Ones are able to withstand greater pressure than most other humanoids. That being said, if they are subjected to less pressure than what they’re used to (i.e. zero gravity, or the upper atmosphere of a planet), a Blind One will suffer from nausea, vertigo, etc. The less pressure there is, the greater the effects of the symptoms. That being said, it is possible for their bodies to adjust after a while, but constant adjustment of the pressure will leave them incapacitated indefinitely.
[*]Underwater Only: The grace and agility which the Blind Ones exhibit underwater absolutely cannot be replicated on-land – they become clumsy, often tripping over their own feet and knocking things over. It doesn’t help that they’re almost 2 meters tall.
[*]Music Sensitivity: Since their culture and general lifestyle relies greatly on noise and music, it is possible to manipulate a Blind One using different musical pieces (i.e. play a soft, soothing lullaby to calm or put to sleep, play a war song to get their blood pumping, etc.)
Personal: Little to no experience with species and cultures outside of the Order of the Sacred Circle and his own species. He also can only speak and understand a very limited amount of Basic.

APPEARANCE:
See here for more details. Being a member of the Forest Traveller Herd, he has green spots in a pattern similar to this. He also has a scar from an encounter with the Nightshrike which travels from his left shoulder and goes almost all the way down to his right hip. Around his neck he wears two stones with this pattern carved onto it -- a light grey stone and a pure white stone.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born as “Son of She Who Runs”, He Who Dreams Big suffered from the actions of his mother growing up.

See, his mother, who’d originally chosen the name “She Who Swims Fast”, had gone out on a food-gathering party with her mate Fierce Protector of His Herd to gather fruits from aboveground. While about, the two were separated from the group and were attacked by a trio of sabercats. Instead of staying and helping her mate fight (for even a fierce warrior was no match for three of those predators), she turned and fled, eventually stumbling across her group.

In the midst of panic, she led everyone to where her mate was left, but it was too late – Fierce Protector of His Herd had been killed.

Because of her lack of injuries and no one else to corroborate her story, She Who Swims Fast was originally going to be exiled for abandonment of her mate (a very serious thing in a culture that mates for life). However, when she was found to be with child, it was decreed that she could stay – but her name had to be changed to She Who Runs, to forever remind her of her cowardice.

Since He Who Dreams Big wasn’t even around during all of this, his peers treated him better than they did his mother. Even so, he was fairly lonely and made few friends, instead preferring to be lost in some fanciful adventure of his. His isolation and his imagination eventually led He Who Dreams Big to suffer from intense curiosity about the outside world, even more than other Forest Travellers.

This continued on through the naming ceremony and up to his first mating ceremony, where he met and harmonized with a female named Blessed With A Big Heart. Now with a mate, his urges to leave were quelled, and the two lived happily enough with their focus on starting a family. At least, until that one fateful day.

Blessed With A Big Heart and He Who Dreams Big were out exploring the forests one night when suddenly, a nightshrike came out of nowhere and attacked. He Who Dreams Big threw himself in front of his beloved in an effort to protect her, and the nightshrike made a long gash across his chest.

Taken aback by the pain of the wound, He Who Dreams Big fell to his knees. Meanwhile, the nightshrike dove back down and attacked Blessed With A Big Heart. Though she tried to scream loudly in order to distract the creature, she was no match and soon fell under its claws.

Absolutely distraught, He Who Dreams Big managed to grab a stick and began to hit at the nightshrike, much like hitting at a pinata -- only with deadlier consequences. While the lack of grace made for a very tough obstacle, he finally managed to bring down the creature.

Bloodied, and injured, He Who Dreams Big stayed with his mate until she finally passed away in his arms, underneath the stars. Ignoring his wounds, the Blind One then carried her body back home, where worried herd members asked what had happened. Though he was told by the High's mate that he needed to rest, He Who Dreams Big refused to leave Blessed With A Big Heart's side, even when the High's mate was tending to his injuries.

After the burial rituals and blessing had been made, He Who Dreams Big requested to have his mate's necklace, too, so that he could have something to remember her by. Despite this being an uncommon request, the High relented, and He Who Dreams Big wore her stone (which had actually been his to begin with, before he'd given it to her) next to his (which had been vice versa) on his neck.

After Blessed With A Big Heart was buried, He Who Dreams Big went into grieving in an unusual way -- he left his home, his mother, his herd...all to search for a way to bring his beloved back. While some voiced concerns for this -- after all, no Blind One had ever willingly left the planet! -- many agreed it would be for the best. Since the death of his mate, he'd never really been the same, after all.

ROLE-PLAYS:

I always said the same thing. Then I switched to doing journal entries for bios and that worked a lot better for me.

None the less, looking forward to it! :)
