uh, Hi?

Hello!

So, just to get out of the way, I am not new to role-playing in any way. I'm 18 and have been role-playing for as long as I remember, I only realized it was called "role-play" when I was 12. I'm on a few other sites, but I'm not here to advertise.

I've been sucked back into star wars recently and the expanded universe, and found this. So, here I am. I have a bunch of questions that I couldn't find answers to in the rules forum, so I'll list them here:

1. Could it be possible for my Character , 'Dominion' to be an Agent of Sith? He doesn't have any force abilities, and works with sniper rifles and knives and espionage and all that good secret stuff. Or at least that's what I'm planning on him doing.

2. Do characters on this site have to start at rock bottom then climb their way up the ladder? I'm not wanting to come into this site super strong. I want to build my character and not be swamped by super badasses.

3. What's the difference between a 'writer' account and a 'character' account?

4. Does this place have a community chat box and I just keep missing it? Or does all conversation happen in forums?

5. Is this site set before the time of the movies or after?

6. How does PvP combat work? Do attacking characters attempt attacks and then the defender say they dodged or blocked or whatever? I hope so.

If any of you can answer these questions, I would be most grateful. :) Thanks!

Welcome! We had a chat box, it was stolen by Jawas.

1. - Not sure, ask the Sith

2.- Pretty sure only Forcies start at rock bottom

3.- Writer is a main account, characters are subaccounts. This is my character account but I also use my writer for RP.

4.- See above.

5.- 800 Something years after the movies. See 'Holonet' then 'Timeline'

6.- Pretty much. Although taking hits is fun too!

Dang that was fast. I literally just posted, took dirty dishes to the sink and then put laundry away, and there was a reply. Thank you for being so fast. lol.

So, about the different accounts. Why the need for them to be different if you use the writer account to rp anyways? Oh, and how do you get those titles things next to your name?

Writer accounts and character accounts are different because you need one for each character. I mean, take this incredibly handsome fella to your left over there. Great guy, but if I'm posting as my 10 year old girl character, I think folks might get confused about that beard. I do know of some RP boards where you use one account for all characters, but this system is a lot better.

For rank bars, there is a topic in character creation. You'll need 50 posts to request them first though.

Writers don't have a post requirement to get the rank titles, however, character accounts (as mentioned above) do require 50 posts. :)

A lot of people head over to the Art and Design area, where you will find a pretty handy list of various rank titles that you can put in your signature. No more than 5 images in a signature, I believe, and I think that applies to the number of lines as well.

Alright. Thanks guys! I understood the different characters thing calls for different accounts. I was just thinking it was meaning I had one account for managing all accounts(writer) and then the individual accounts for each character(character).

I'll get to making my character page.

Welcome to Chaos!

In regards to what you asked about being an agent of the Sith: by all means! :) The One Sith is a faction open to more than just Force users. There are several NFUs, and we have some focused on espionage. I'm sure you'll be able to find a place there :)

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Enjoy your stay!

Welcome to the Chaos!

Have fun here, and keep the questions coming if you need to.

That's one way to go. You can start a thread in open roleplay and see who joins, or post in the roleplay discussion area to ask if people would be interested in creating a story together. To join the One Sith and get involved with the faction, click this link.

It will take you to the faction forum. Click join, and you will gain access. Similarly to the board, we have an area for ooc discussions/rp planning, as well as one where you can post open threads. If you join and post in our "welcome new members" area, I can provide you with more faction relevant links there.

Hope you found this helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help you out. :)
