Uh... old submissions, "small" problem(s)

There are a few old submissions that I've found from around 2015 that are still really decent tech, and probably will be for a while since no one is making any competitors, but I'm just wondering what to do if it doesn't have the category for "open" or "closed-market" on it, or anything like that.

Like this one here: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/56006-acs-801-witch-fire-ciws/

I see it used in submissions without any sign of purchase, but me, liking to purchase things and sometime shaving too active of a brain, posted a few times in short order in the storefront, and may have annoyed the storefront owner a bit because I'm kind of a silly person, but that's not the point. I have no idea whether or not these are open or closed. Some have the appearance of being open, while others seem not to be especially common. Should I use this as a gauge?

What do I do if the person who made something is no longer around? Do I ask the faction affiliated with the tech? What if the faction is no longer around? Who do I ask, then?

Thanks for any answers that will help alleviate my confusion,
Regards,

Arventum

They aren't open. Whoever is using them either has my permission or is me.

Could have tried a PM instead of a thread if I hadn't gotten around to your Market Place entry. I don't RP this char often and don't mess with his notifications all that often. Maybe once a week tops and sometimes I don't get to everything.

Okay, but what about the others?

I'm confused by all of the ones that don't have open or closed thingies. Some of these people aren't around anymore, and neither are the factions. There are starship components that would be really nice to have, and then some things that I could put in a droid, and a few things that I could add to armor.

It wasn't about you, exclusively. I am just uncertain what to do. How can you use something if the people who made it and used it aren't around anymore to tell you whether or not something was open?

Edit:

Like this one: http://starwarsrp.net/topic/60476-a1-medical-droid/?hl=droid

The company is not around anymore, and neither is the player. It says open-market, but I was always told to ask about things and get confirmation before I used them. How can I use it if they're not around to tell me I can?

If it says open market then it is free to be used by anyone and does not require a "purchase thread." If the submission is so old that an affiliation/availability isn't listed and the original submitter is gone, best practice is to find something else. You might also have better luck posting factory related questions like this in the factory discussion forum where it will get seen by the people best qualified to answer you.

Only the people listed in the affiliation may use the submission. If the submission is affiliated with a faction that is no longer around, it can no longer be used.

Just to help out, straight from a template:

  • Affiliation: (Individual Character Name (an individual PC/NPC who is permitted to use this item), Company Name(s) (Companies authorised to use this submission), Faction Name(s) (Factions authorised to use this submission, Closed-Market (Any character can use this if they have explicit permission through, for example, a marketplace purchase), Open-Market (May be used by any character without permission from the Manufacturer), other potential options include a submitted NPC unit, or another general organisation/group. Optional. If you chose Limited, Semi-Unique, or Unique in Productivity above please list what groups/characters can use this submission in role-plays. For Affilation limitations on who can field what, please see For more details see the Star Ship rules)

Understood.

I'm familiar with this. Submissions without this, however, or that have circumstances where both the creator and the faction are gone were what getting me. Thank you, though, Eddak. I hope you're having a good day, mate.

Uh, I think this can be closed now. I'll post factory questions in the factory discussion from here on out! ^_^ Sorry for this being in the wrong place, guys.

Have a good day everyone!
