Private Under the Atrisian Sun

(Story takes place several weeks before Jyoti's deployment against the Bryn in the Outer Rim)

Lyfja, Kiribi

It was almost time to go.

With the Bryn continued their rampage ever closer to Silver Space, she knew it was only a matter of time until full scale war erupted. Mass evacuations could only happen for so long - soon the Jedi would come to blows with the monsters. Before that time came, she aimed to spend her last precious moments of solace with her friends and family before war claimed her again. It could be weeks or months before she ever saw her children again - if she even survived - so she wanted to make every moment count.

Finally, she would make the trip to Atrisia, a planet she had wanted to see for ages. As a child, the storied world had often kept her awake at night with epic sagas of adventure, romance, and melodrama. She had taken much influence from the Atrisian arts as she had grown as a craftsman.

Unfortunately, the world had functioned as an arena for the ambitions and obsession of various Sith Lords, literally engulfing the world in flames. In present times, Atrisia now flourished under reconstruction, but the scars of the recent past still remained.

While it enjoyed peace, now was as good as time as any.

For the trip, she had packed up the family in their courier ship, and had also invited Josh and his family as well. It had been a little while since the two had seen each other, so she thought this would make a good opportunity to catch up. As her group of old friends dwindled, she didn't want to take the remaining for granted.

She had given Josh precise coordinates to find her enclave, but even if she hadn't, Lyfja was hard to miss even in orbit. Its glittering spires and domes of silvery alloys could be easily seen from orbit on a good day, an engineering marvel built up by generations of Echani who had settled on Kiribi during the Dark Ages as mercenaries. While conducting engine checks with her husband, Jyoti awaited a sign from Josh.

It had been some time since the Jedi Master had met the woman who he had befriended upon his return to the Silvers all those years ago. He was surprised to hear that she had settled down with a husband, possibly even had children of her own. At one point he had thought that...

Well, he supposed it didn't matter now. What he did know was that he was very happy for her, knowing that with all the turmoil in her life she had finally had the chance to settle down as he had. And finally been able to experience the joys of domestic life that had been the light of his life for some time. With war on its way to the doorstep of Silver Space once more, he knew that they couldn't take the peaceful times left remaining for granted. Nor those who remained that he could consider friends. For those too, had become few. As it always did in the end.

With the six year old Jason in tow, Josh had piloted the Maekrix to the coordinates that Jyoti had sent him. Holding Jason's hand as they made their way on foot after landing, he sent a message out to Jyoti that they had arrived.

Her attention turned to her hip at the chirp of her communicator. A smile grew on her face as she saw it was from Josh.

"Is it him?" Bastian asked from the copilot seat. No words had been exchanged between the Echani, but her reactions said as much.

"Mmhmm, let me go wrangle him up. I think we'll be ready to go as soon as we get him situated."

She gave his shoulder a squeeze as she stood up from the chair, then left for the exit ramp. Outside, she saw that Josh's ship was parked within easy walking distance. She was already waving with a hand as she triggered her comlink.

"Welcome to Kiribi, I hope didn't have too much trouble getting here."

She wasn't all that hard to find soon after, and the blonde gave her a gentle wave as he saw her. As he walked towards her, he answered the comlink. "Well, there was this space monkey that kept us sidetracked for a little while..." he joked. But no, it wasn't much difficulty getting here. He had never been to this planet before, but how many planets had he gone out of his way to find by now that he'd never been to previously?

Should he give her a hug? Or was that too casual, not formal enough considering she used to be his boss? While neither of them had their positions anymore and had long been lost, discarded and forgotten to time, he didn't know, so he didn't risk it. Instead, he extended a hand once he reached her.

"It's been too long."
