Intent: A collar to make Sith prisoners easier to manage.
Development Thread: Here - the Underground learns the limitations and uses of Balanoro Force mites.
Manufacturer: The Underground/The Kathol Outback
Model: Forcer Containment Collar
Affiliation: The Underground/The Kathol Outback
Modularity: No
Production: Limited
Material: Balanoro Force mites, high-grade duraplast
Strengths:
Description: The Force mite is a tiny biting insect, native to the jungles of Balanor. Hosts are extremely suggestible and agreeable, and find it difficult to use the Force, as the mite consumes Force energy. The Underground attempted to use Force mites on various operations, but did not succeed. Instead, they learned more about what the mites could and could not accomplish. With a wealth of knowledge and a large stock of Force mites, the Underground decided to make a containment measure for captured Sith.
Unlike the original containment collars that have been floating around the galaxy since the days of the modern Sith Empire, these particular collars don't completely remove Force abilities. A wearer finds it quite difficult to use the Force, but can usually manage it. Also, the wearer -- bitten by Balanoro mites through a permeable membrane on the inside of the collar -- becomes powerfully suggestible and agreeable, completely lacking common sense. Removal of the collar, too, will not restore easy Force access or the wearer's common sense. Unimpeded Force access and good judgment (if they existed previously) will return in a matter of hours, generally around three hours for an Apprentice and significantly longer for a Knight or Master.
Ideally, a collar will render a Sith prisoner much less dangerous, much more compliant, and far more willing to answer questions.
OOC note: Obviously, the target's writer has full discretion as to how to write the result of being collared, or even if their character is collared or not.

Strengths:
- Makes the Force more difficult for the wearer to use. Techniques are more difficult to use and attempts to access the Force often fail.
- Makes the wearer extremely suggestible and agreeable.
- Effects take some time to wear off after the collar's removal (around three hours for an apprentice, significantly longer for a knight or Master)
- Partially lightsabre-resistant and very tough.
- Only partially restricts Force use. Techniques are more difficult, but a Force containment collar that allows Force techniques is a tricky thing for a jailer to use properly. Handle with care.
- Thick-skinned or heavily furred species, such as Herglics and Wookiees, are pretty much immune.
- The collar can produce a powerful negative emotional reaction in species who have histories of slavery, such as Twi'leks and Wookiees. Beyyr finds the collars distasteful, but after a long career fighting Darksiders, he doesn't especially care. On the sliding scale of ends justifying the means, this isn't too bad. Many don't agree. Will this result in Wookiee guards going easy on prisoners who are wearing the collar? Maybe, yeah, if they don't think he or she deserves it.

The Balanoro Force mite is a tiny, winged insect, native to the jungles of Balanor. It has two proboscises and many legs. Resistant to a variety of climate conditions, it prefers warm, wet areas. It does not require food or oxygen if latched onto a victim. It des not travel in swarms -- a quality that has made it difficult to capture en masse. The mite feeds on the Force, a true Forcivore. The mite's preferred prey is not known, though presumably some kind of Force-sensitive non-sentient creature is native to the jungles of Balanor. Such creatures are known to exist elsewhere; jakobeasts, for example. The mite can track a Force apprentice from thirty metres, and a Master from much farther. When latching on, the mite uses two proboscises, one to harvest blood and nutrients like any number of insectoid pests, and the other to harvest Force energy. This draining effect is not believed to be permanent. Once latched onto a victim, the mite makes its victim much more suggestible and agreeable, lacking common sense, almost as if drunk. The victim will also have difficulty calling on the Force. While attached, the mite is helpless. The mite's effects wear off proportional to the victim's Force abilities, a matter of hours -- around three hours for a Force apprentice, significantly longer for a Master.
