Up the lazy river

She was feeling elated the long discussed leaving of the hospital and traveling to the river country was here. The house was under lock and key with notes sent off to her brothers saying she would be out of town for a while. They had come by to see her questioning her about her life and her choice of work.

She had laughed considering their line of work. But that was last week and this was this week she had arranged a transport to pick Greg up after she had taken him home last night. She had slipped out early this morning to get the final details of their trip together. His parents were all set, the cabin was theirs. She had to giggle slightly at the looks that his parents gave her when she said she would be taking care of Greg and they should come by soon.

They only knew that he had died and come back from terrible injuries. Anything more Greg would have to tell them, she would not. that conversation had been hard enough with her family.

She had their transportation waiting to whisk them off, as she made her way back into Greg's place. Greg are you up, do you need help with anything? She listened to see if he would answer, or was he still in the bed?

Greg stood in his master bath, looking at himself in the mirror. Even though his wounds were well healed with only pink scars showing that would fade and blend in with his other skin tone as he was able to get some sun and rebuild his tan; he still cringed when he saw what damage he had suffered. As much as he hated the smell of it, and hospitals in general, he had to admit that bacta worked wonders.

“Greg are you up, do you need help with anything?

“I’m up. I’ll be out in a minute,” he responded with a smirk at the thought of Sam nursing him back to health at the cabin. He pulled on a black t-shirt and scowled at his image in the mirror. It had been tight fitting, especially in the shoulders, chest, and arms; but, now it hung loose on him. It was amazing how fast muscle mass could be lost when the body was in a recovery mode. That made two things on his agenda for the coming weeks… plenty of sun and regaining his strength and endurance. He had some ideas how his nurse could help with some of that.

He stepped out into the bedroom and grinned at his partner. “I’m ready and all packed. I had the driver take my bags down to the limo already.” He caught her up in a hug and gave her a kiss. Releasing her reluctantly but knowing any more of that might start something that would delay their departure, he asked, “So what did you decide? Do we take the limo to the cabin, or, do we take it to the club in Tyrena and take the boat up the river? It should only take a couple of hours and it should be a smooth ride on the river. If we had to go out into the ocean I wouldn’t be game for that bouncing yet but the river would be fine. On the other hand, the hover-limo can skim across the swamp and up the river and have us there in about 45 minutes. I’m game either way.”

She did not struggle when he picked her up and when his lips pressed on hers if he had not been holding her up she surely would of puddled there on the floor. She encircled her arms around his neck as her hands laid on the nape of his neck. She looked up into his eyes he was worth all of it. They had to be careful they may never leave the house. She gave him a lazy grin. She hoped that he liked what he would find out about her over the next few months. She was looking forward to finding out if the playboy Greg was anything like the calm collected Greg.

They had been trying to make that decision for the last few hours. Sam had given the matter additional thought when she closed down her own home. "If you are up to it I really think we should sail up the river. We would have a bit of privacy and enjoy the view. He mentioned the club in Tyrena she wasn't ready for that yet. She wanted to explain it to him but somehow she knew he already knew it, felt it.

Any time they mentioned clubs she thought about what happen, granted as time had passed it did not linger as much as in the past but it was there. The little twinge of hurt that made her whole body cringe. She felt slightly dizzy from the thought so powerful was it. She needed time, just as Greg needed time. They agreed that this vacation was for them it was also to help them get over the events that had nearly cost Greg his life, and if Jared had continued the others that would have been killed. No. She wouldn't linger on it but it was there.

I like the idea of keeping you all to myself. But yes the river ride would not bounce you around as much. She stroked the back of his neck, You are going to need plenty of exercise to get back in shape and have your body at optimal performance levels. I hope you let me help you with that Greg dear.

She kissed him softly and then stepped back, their closeness was enough to make her think of ice.

So, ready to escape?
