Updatebiophobia

Anybody else got that? My bio has just gotten way the hell away from me in terms of updating, so the more I don't update the more stuff I do and the more stuff I have to update later, and the more stuff I have to update later the more I don't want to update.

I think I've developed Updatebiophobia-itis...

I've never updated any of my bios ever. Even long standing characters like Moridin never got it. I'm...i'm just so lazy.

I keep Ashe's bio nice and neat, from weapons and items to a detailed list of threads with summaries. :3

Now, ask me if I do this for EVERY character and I'll tell you "Hah, you funneh...."

I have an exceptional mind.

I can pretty much recall everything my characters have ever done down to quotes, and if i can't 90% of threads are archived somewhere and i can find them with a quick google search and the correct phrasing. Honestly it doesn't matter to me.

The only detriment to this is when people go to read my bio they get information thats not necessarily true anymore. For instance in Nemene's weaknesses i have listed that she's a diva and cant get anything accomplished on her own without her slaves. Through about a dozen or so roleplays when she was an apprentice this completely changed, she learned to do things for herself and can now tie her own shoes. The Strengths and Weaknesses on all of my characters are horribly outdated as mot of them have developed far beyond their original inception. Sometimes this is a good thing though because it keeps people from going to my bio to find out my weakness just so they can use it in a thread <_<

-shrugs-

It works out. If people want to know something there's a messaging system. If they demand proof of the capability of my characters skills, theres dozens of threads i can link them. Doesn't bother me.

I always try to keep up with my bio, once in a while I fall behind but not too much. I usually update when I simply go to visit it for whatever reason xD And I add my equipment, Force abilities, and threads whenever I can. But it isn't too much of a huge priority to me.

I don't read bios that are longer than 2 paragraphs. Beyond that it just feels to me like I picked up a published paperback with weird formatting, font colors, no editor, and zero chapter headings. Hard pass. Hard pass.

Bios are great for hashing out a character in the beginning. But once the Roleplay starts, IC time doesn't make sense anymore. In a single RP IC year a character can grow old, Master seven lost arts, build an Ark, sail back in time to have children 30 years ago, and watch a Major Faction rise and fall in power only to be overthrown by their great grandson. It's like reading Harry Potter on hallucinogens while riding a roller coaster. Nope nope nope. Never again.

Truth. A bios is like pubic hair. Shape it, trim it, love it, and then never speak of it again. :p :D

I can never look at a bio which hasn't been updated or is written using terrible formatting. That's why I tend to update all of my characters' bios (unless I've abandoned them) and change their formatting whenever I feel like it's needed.

But I'm too lazy to go and update Malificete's bio... >.>

I'm kind of obsessed with fixing up my bios and even more thread tracker. Comes from my wiki obsession to not only update things but also keep them nice and neat. So I'm definitely the opposite extreme for that. And if I have nothing to edit, I will find a line that needs breaking, a letter that needs fixing, color that needs adding, picture that needs changing... I'm not even kidding about the obsession.

Mostly, that description also describes me. :p
