• It Is A Shield - It provides excellent protection against direct forms of damage.

• It Is Just A Shield - It provides literally no protection against anything except for the attacks that are directly blocked by the shield.
• Weight - It has a certain weight that can tire the user over time.

Previous to their seclusion shields were considered a strange occurence on battlefields full of blasters, artillery and tanks. But by their 'ascension' to specialists of melee combat, the Ursine Templars have resorted to the use of shields again. Each is a custom design by its bearer and with the help of the newly arrived weapon- and armorsmiths, their quality has increased dramatically to counter most forms of direct damage. Usually used together with a sword, they are considered a secondary weapon of choice due to the preference for the notorious Claymore. Yet the shield itself with its sometimes sharp edges can provide a good support weapon itself when bashed with.
