Using the Force as applied quantum mechanics

After the broomstick testing session was over, Jessica was left mystified as to what could possibly form the basis of that spell. Sure Jessica knew very little about Force-powers other than the vanilla powers: Force push/pull, which just amount to using F= ma on an object in her mind, and hence why it was so widely used. Force-vision was very similar to a Force-powered doppler-effect, ground-penetrating radar to her. Many mind tricks were the same as just acting on the thought nodes of the target's brain. But that Witch would be an oddity as far as she knew the space wizards floating around in SSC space: space wizards offered no explanations whatsoever for their powers, and Jessica would probably feel jealous of that witch, thinking "If only I was Force-sensitive, I would be weaving spells out of science textbooks!"

"Oh Cathul, I wish to know how the kark you could make me feel so heavy that it's as if I had a SI-74 and a WESTAR Skirmisher armor at the same time when I was on my broom, when in fact I only had my underwear at the time"

"Utinni!" the first Jawa said.

"That's what I call a witch" the second Jawa said afterward.

"Magic or no magic, I can't get over how that teenager managed to be at least infatuated with me - he acted as though I was the sexiest woman in the galaxy. He must like tall girls or something - plus I don't think you used a mind trick on him for him to fall in love with me"

From what Cathul knew about Jessica, she seemed to like Jessica's intellectual makeup. Even though she wouldn't put down people who were intellectually challenged, Cathul was grateful for knowing such a wonderful woman. She knew both Jessica and herself had big, well-trained brains, with the primary difference that Jessica didn't have part of her brain in some protuberances called lekku. Cathul saw in Jessica a really brilliant woman, a genius bruiser if given the chance to get anything similar to basic combat training, and later anti-tank training. Charzon, in comparison, was different. That was not to say that she isn't bright, but Charzon would have been one to be described as "bright but nothing exceptional" and be more accurate than it would be in Cathul or Jessica's cases. Cathul began the conversation with a description of the spell she cast on Jessica, but the description raises more questions than it answers:

"Jessica, do you have a clue about how that power operates? There is only so much I can do with that spell if I don't understand how it works. I know it changes the mass of the target but no more"

"Two of the prettiest women in the galaxy, one of them is a Witch... must have used some spell to look that good" the Jawa paparazzo told Cathul.

"You always seemed to describe yourself as just some bright woman but nothing otherwise uncommon intellectually: now what if I told you that you shouldn't downplay your smarts the way you used to? It will increase your charisma"

"Stay a while and listen" the other Jawa told his clansmen.

"I have my little idea. However, to fully understand what that idea is about, you will have to learn about quantum mechanics and how does that tie into quantum field theory. Not at the same level of rigor as I was taught these things, mind you. I do not think the mathematical details matter that much when you want to use it for magic, or to understand your own magic"

Jessica immediately sees Cathul being so starry-eyed that it was hard to tell why she was starry-eyed. Perhaps because Cathul saw right through as a transparent attempt to show off one way or another. Perhaps Cathul would finally understand what that spell is about. But Jessica wonders how long she must strain her brain in an attempt to get Cathul to understand what quantum mechanics is, and what she needs out of QM and QFT for spellweaving, and also the assumption that both Cathul and the all-too-curious Jawas, whom she does not suspect are part of some fan club. But she knows that very few people actually know about quantum mechanics at the depth level she does. Sure, a few Jedi do, but there is virtually no one among Witches that would actually even think about how the Force works beyond what they need to know to use it. But perhaps these Jawas are more interested in the teacher than they are in the education.

"There are six basic things you should understand about non-relativistic quantum mechanics before we get into the depth of non-relativistic quantum mechanics. Please, Cathul, understand that you need to start with the nonrelativistic before entering the relativistic realm and, from there, quantum field theory"

"Where should one draw the line between nonrelativistic and relativistic?" a Jawa paparazzo asked.

"Nonrelativistic and relativistic refer to two different varieties of sublight speeds. Usually nonrelativistic means that your velocity is below 0.05c or something like that. Before we begin, take for granted that c = hbar = 1, even though, in how I use quantum mechanics in my engineering work, c and hbar are NOT equal to 1"

"You're using Jedi units, Jessica! The only people I've heard about using c = hbar = 1 in everyday practice are Jedi!" Cathul screamed.

Upon hearing that, Cathul was just... incredulous. How would Jessica go on about explaining quantum mechanics using Jedi units when she was decidedly NOT using Jedi units in her everyday use of quantum mechanics and quantum field theory! She knew about quantum mechanics having been discovered essentially by relaxing a mathematical assumption, but she knew little about it beyond that. Cathul then turns to her new apprentice, whom she met in a flight test of these broomsticks. However, these pesky Jawas, none of whom were Force-users, appeared dazed and confused but still willing to learn what quantum mechanics and quantum field theory they could. They may get very little, if anything, about quantum mechanics, they may have the impression that Jessica is actually a space witch herself even though that is not actually the case. For so many, Force-users or not, quantum mechanics is like magic to them. Plus the reading list has just been given to all, Jawas included: Lucinta Cal-Meg's Introductory (and Advanced) Quantum Mechanics, as well as Ambak's An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory.

"Don't worry, Lyth. This is just a tool to help you cast more types of spells. I have my little idea about the nature of the Force: the Force is quantum in nature"
