- Independent Programming: V-1 Astromechs were the start of CST's production of droids that trade some more precision functionality for more creative, independent programming ripe for developing personalities. For many this can make the droids seem temperamental, though it is by design.

The V-1 series astromech was design by Concord Specialized Technologies to to pair with their starfighters, as well as others. Unlike other droids, the V-1 has a boxier frame, and a head dome similar to that of the earlier utility droids. The main functional point that makes these astromechs stand out is their more independent programming. For a long time this feature has marked all CST droids outside of combat drones, both to the delight and and dismay of buyer.
