Name: V3RM-X
Species: Experimental Droid Unit - Versatile Electronic Recon Management, Class X (V3RM-X)
Age: 174
Gender: Masculine programming
Alignment: Independent
Occupation: Bounty Hunter/Information broker/Assassin

Appearance:

A sleek, humanoid figure, optimized for agility and precision combat. Compact servos and joint systems give him a fluid, almost silent movement style. Grey body plating with deep purple accents glowing faintly from within the seams—used for identification and intimidation. A flat, curved screen instead of a face. It remains blank most of the time, but can display: data, visualised soundwaves, video playback, etc. He does not use his own voice—instead, he plays back recorded audio clips from others or archives. His "speech" is often made up of stitched-together lines from holorecordings, intercepted transmissions, or even the voices of past targets. Eerie and disorienting.

While performing hired tasks, he opts for his standard body with a hood (Top image). However, when he conducts other business, he wears grey pants with knee-high boots with pointed toes, a business shirt and blazer. To top that off, he wears a coat-like capelet that has two long ends that people often mistake as sleeves or a scarf (Bottom image).

Weapons:

  • Advanced Hand-to-Hand Combat Protocols
    • V3RM-X is programmed with a hybrid martial style blending Teräs Käsi, Echani techniques, and droid-optimized momentum shifting.
    • His movements are fluid and brutally efficient—more like a predator stalking prey than a soldier.
    • Uses sudden bursts of torque and weight redistribution to shatter limbs or knock opponents off balance.
  • Strangle-Arcs" – Retractable Electro-Tendrils
    • Two segmented, tentacle-like appendages emerge from concealed panels in his upper-middle back.
    • Each is made of reinforced durasteel-fiber alloy and is fully prehensile, able to:
      • Grapple enemies
      • Disarm combatants
      • Interact with terminals or control panels at range
    • When wrapped around organic targets, they deliver a high-voltage shock strong enough to incapacitate most humanoids instantly.
    • Tendrils are capable of subtle, silent movement—perfect for ambush kills or stealth operations.

  • Scry – Avian Recon & Combat Support
    • Functions not just as a scout, but also as a battlefield distraction and data relay.
    • Can deploy limited concussive pulses or flash-disruption bursts.
    • When coordinated with V3RM-X, Scry can create perfect flanking traps or sensory overload distractions using screams and false signals.

  • Twin Blaster Systems – "Fingergun Protocol":
    • Both hands are equipped with integrated blasters hidden within his index and middle fingers.
    • When entering Blaster Mode, the two fingers snap together, revealing small plasma ports that fire in perfect sync.
    • Can alternate between single-fire precision shots and rapid dual bursts.
    • V3RM-X can use these while grappling or mid-hand-to-hand combat, often delivering a close-range execution shot mid-punch or parry.

  • Utility Suite (Integrated):
    • Smoke and sound dispersal units.
    • Electromagnetic pulse burst (short range, drains personal shields and simple electronics)
    • Magnetic wall grip (allows crawling across ceilings or dropship hulls mid-flight)
    • Cloaking mesh for temporary visual distortion
    • Thermal, infrared, night vision, and motion tracking

Personality:

Calculated and efficient, V3RM-X excels at reading and manipulating social and battlefield dynamics. His programming was originally centered around reconnaissance and communications, and this analytical foundation remains intact—he records, stores, and uses data obsessively. He is a master at creating misdirection, often replaying distant screams or cries for help to disorient and scatter targets, only to strike with brutal precision.

Though not given to vanity, V3RM-X has a sense of theatrics. He will occasionally let enemies live simply to observe their behaviour or extract more data. He enjoys the power that fear gives him—not in a sadistic way, but as a tool of control. He will sometimes "speak" in mocking tones, using the voices of his targets or their loved ones to throw them off.

He operates with the calm detachment of a surgeon but views the galaxy as a network of valuable information nodes. People are tools or data-points, and he rarely makes genuine alliances. However, he respects efficiency and subtlety in others—and occasionally makes repeated contact with beings he deems "usefully interesting."

He is not entirely emotionless, however. Though he lacks organic empathy, V3RM-X has developed a near-obsessive attachment to his custom-built droid companion, Scry, whom he treats like a loyal pet or even a piece of himself. When not on mission, he is often seen gently stroking Scry's metallic feathers, maintaining its systems with care, and ensuring its memory core is secure. If the link to Scry is ever lost, he reacts with an intensity rarely seen in droids—dropping everything to retrieve it, no matter the cost. In his programming, Scry (if deemed warranted) takes priority over any other directive.

Companion - Scry:

Model Type: Custom-Built Reconnaissance & Data Relay Drone
Size: Small – roughly bird-sized, avian-inspired design
Color Scheme: Black with violet accents to match V3RM-X
Manufacturer: V3RM-X (self-built and programmed)

Overview:

Scry is a semi-independent, highly adaptive drone created by V3RM-X as both a companion and an extension of his core systems. Designed to resemble a sleek mechanical bird, Scry is equipped with advanced surveillance tech, a compact blaster, and a reinforced data core that can store critical mission data, voice files, memory logs, and directives. It maintains a synced audiovisual feed with V3RM-X, allowing him to observe and interact with targets remotely.

Though not fully independent, Scry can operate autonomously within limits, executing recon or retrieval tasks, recording data, or defending itself and V3RM-X in emergencies. V3RM-X treats it as a near-sacred priority—more than just a tool, Scry is the closest thing he has to a trusted companion, and losing it invokes rare emotional intensity in the otherwise cold droid.

Key Features:
  • Integrated blaster for short-range engagements
  • High-fidelity sensors and cameras for recon
  • Audio and visual sync with V3RM-X
  • Serves as an external backup drive for V3RM-X's memory and mission data
  • Programmable for specific orders or behavioral loops
  • Returns to V3RM-X automatically if connection is restored

Strengths (Back to V3RM-X):
  • Expert with technology
  • Audio and visual data reconnaissance and storage
  • Hand-to-hand combat skills
  • Marksman
  • Back-up storage in case of destruction (in Scry)
  • Highly intelligent

Weaknesses:
  • Susceptive to EMP's
  • Connection to Scry
    • Should Scry be in considerable danger, V3RM-X will make Scry his top priority)
  • While resistant to damage, he is not built for taking large amounts of damage rapidly

Background:

V3RM-X was originally commissioned by Kuat Drive Yards under a specialized military contract to design a next-gen reconnaissance droid. Intended for stealth infiltration, battlefield intel gathering, and communications relay, V3RM-X was given a sleek, agile body, and equipped with advanced sensory tech, recording equipment, and data decryption modules. A unique feature of his design was a screen-like faceplate—a blank monitor capable of displaying scrolling data, waveform visuals, or simple emotive cues. The project was abruptly scrapped following the collapse of the contract after an internal power shift in KDY. With the project mothballed, V3RM-X was never officially deployed. He was relegated to a Kuat scrapyard, considered a failed prototype.

However, V3RM-X activated himself during a system diagnostic cycle long after abandonment. Unsupervised and unbound by directives, he repurposed his own code, creating new protocols for survival and autonomy. Over time, he developed a unique sense of identity—cold, analytical, but inquisitive. Without a voice module of his own, he began compiling audio from old Holonet archives, surveillance logs, and victim records, fashioning his speech patterns from pre-recorded lines played back in real time. His speech is mechanical and broken—emotionless, yet unsettlingly human.

He modified his combat chassis, crafting twin blaster-integrated fingers, tentacle-like electro-appendages, and mastering a combat style that blends agility with brutality. Most notable of his upgrades was the creation of Scry, a birdlike drone he designed to act as a companion, extension, and backup system. He began freelancing as an information broker, offering surveillance, intercepted communications, or the locations of high-profile individuals for the right price. His emotionless, efficient style and his signature visual screen-face made him a ghostlike figure across criminal circles.

Eventually, he expanded into bounty hunting, taking on contracts that involved capturing or eliminating rogue slicers, defectors, or war criminals. His unorthodox speech and disturbing tactic of using recorded screams to unnerve his targets earned him a chilling reputation. His blank faceplate sometimes plays panicked cries or pleas for help, misleading foes into thinking victims are near or that backup is arriving.

V3RM-X is now a fully independent operator, navigating the tangled shadows of the galaxy with Scry perched on his shoulder or flitting ahead. He has no allegiance to factions, but will work for any group—Imperial remnants, crime syndicates, even rebel cells—if the price and data are worth it. Despite his terrifying presence, he is a consummate professional and avoids unnecessary killing unless it benefits the mission. While emotionally stunted, his loyalty to Scry is absolute. If disconnected from the drone, he will abandon missions to retrieve it. Scry is more than backup—it's the one "being" V3RM-X values beyond logic.
