- Force imbued: While nothing special at first glance, the pair of armbands were imbued with the Force by Valery following the battle of Jedha between the Maw and GA. These armbands in particular heighten Force-related skills and abilities when fighting users or objects tainted by the Dark Side.
- Weapon against Darkness: The first strength gained from being Force imbued is how it interacts with offensive abilities that can be turned against Dark Siders. Force Light and Sever Force are the two most prominent offensive skills affected by the armbands, making it harder for Sith or other Dark Side users to shield themselves against it.
- Shield against Darkness: Whilst being able to offer an offensive boost, the armbands also heighten her defenses against the Dark Side. This includes protection against mind-affecting abilities, draining abilities, illusions, and other conjurations of the Dark Side.
- Durability: As potent as the armbands are, they are and will always remain simple leather armbands. They are not lightsaber resistant and can be severed fairly easily if struck correctly.
- Force nullification: The armbands only provide their assistance through the Force when its flow is not restricted. In an area with Force-nullification, such as a Ysalamiri's bubble, the armbands will just be simple leather bands around her arms.
During the Battle of Jedha between forces of the Maw and GA, Valery was caught in a large explosion that contributed to her former outfit being shredded and burned. As part of an entirely new outfit design, she decided to imbue two armbands with the Force that she'd take with her as a reminder and a source of strength against the Dark Side.
The events she witnessed after the Maw's sacking of Coruscant, paired with the devastation at Jedha resulted in Valery's determination to combat the Dark Side to grow even further. But during the battle, she also encountered her fallen love interest,
Kahlil Noble
, who has been a source of strength for her until his fall as well. Even now, the hope of him returning to the Light helps keep her going, and him saving her life during the battle has only strengthened this hope.Using the growing determination to fight the Dark Side, as well as the hope and strength she gained from him, Valery channeled her own Force energy into these armbands, resulting in them heightening her Force prowess when fighting against anything tainted by the Dark Side. They have become crucial elements in her duties as a Jedi Shadow, and her quest to purge the Galaxy of darkness.
