APPEARANCE:
Valin has been informed of his good looks since he was just a small boy, where those around him would remark on how he'd "break hearts" when he grew up. Well, he's grown up now and suffice to say such comments have well and truly gone to his head. Valin truly believes that there is no situation that he cannot charm his way out of, and to this day that's seemingly held true. A roguish smile, a well placed pout, pleading eyes which could melt any mother's heart, he's used to getting his way (one way or another), and as such has known the lap of luxury for quite some time now. His lightly tousled hair is deemed by many of his superiors to be unkempt, but Valin insists it's the in-style, and he opts for a rather minimalist wardrobe. After all, there's no sense in distracting from his already perfect state. He's known to wear just a few slim pieces of jewelry, the sort which speaks to wealth without being gaudy or in the way. Aside from this, he is almost always found with a book or datacron in hand. It provides an easy way for him to look busy and aloof, and keeps him from being tasked with too many random jobs... Just the way he likes it. Despite his apparent laziness where work is concerned, Valin takes his health and body very seriously. The result of time spent working out is a well toned form, and chiseled features. He also has above average endurance when he wishes to exert himself, though most would believe him sluggish through ordinary observation.
BIOGRAPHY:
For some, the path of a Jedi is held on a pedestal, something to long after, to aspire toward. Across the Galaxy children play pretend, acting out the great Jedi legends and wishing that they too could harness the Force and wave around a lightsaber. For some, that becomes a reality. Valin was discovered to be of above average midi-chlorian count when he was just a few years old, his proud parents having gotten him tested as early as they could. He was the first in their bloodline, and elevated their already noble social status in the years which followed.
He was, of course, sent for the best schooling money could buy, and in the meantime his parents weighed up the options afforded to them when it came to real training. In the end, the prestige which would follow their name should their son join the ranks of the Jedi far outweighed the loss of his childhood to them, and so he was shipped away to the Silver Jedi while his parents gloated to their social circle.
Valin did not enjoy the Jedi Academy one bit. Each morning he was woken before the sun, thrust into some training regime, forced to meditate, and eat subpar food. He was sent out to complete menial tasks in the name of Jedi Service, made to wear uncomfortable attire that itched his sensitive skin, and to speak only when spoken to by his elders. The days were long, the work was tough, and each night he lay in bed aching and longing for some reprieve.
It came in the form of the Force. When his lessons on the metaphysical began, and he first harnessed the power which had brought his family such pride, he finally began to understand just why it was so sought after. It was amazing! He soon discovered that the menial tasks became a walk in the park, that even eating was no longer a chore, if he didn't have to lift his finger to do it. It enraged him to think that they had kept such secrets from him for all the time he'd been in the Academy until that point. Why were any of them taking the hard path? It made no sense.
Of course, this did not sit well with his mentors. They found his laziness to be a vice, his inability to connect with those he was sent to help a burden, nay a problem, and his growing temper worrying. He would frequently backtalk, skip lessons in favour of play, and find ways to avoid his responsibilities.
Soon enough his fate was sealed. No more was he welcome within the Academy proper, instead he'd be sent to one of the Corps to live out his days as a labourer for the Order. At least, that's what they thought. Valin, however, was having none of it. As early as he could he broke away from his new life and fled the world in search of something more. With his freshly learned powers he spent the first few weeks cheating in gambling dens and the like, until the locals were understandably fed up with being beaten by a kid, and eventually he made his way back home to Serenno.
His parents were not happy to begin with. Valin didn't understand, he made them laugh, and smile, and mother always said she loved him, so why was that not enough? His homecoming was bitter, and he found himself quickly locked away for fear that someone might realize he was home. How else were they to lord themselves over their neighbours?
The answer to that came in the form of an invitation. Apparently someone knew that Valin was back in town, and they were very excited to meet with him. It turned out that he'd gained the attention of a Sith Knight, Lord Tyric, a man who sought to harness the boys inner rage to benefit the both of them. He was hoping for a way up a ladder of his own, toward the path of Sith Lord, and he knew that a boy Valin's age would not be content with being hidden away for the next few years.
Taken under the Sith's wing, Valin finally began to flourish. He showed a keen interest in the Force, and under his new Master he was allowed to use and abuse it as much as he wished. There were no outbursts from his Master, no pathetic lectures on the sanctity of the Force, and soon enough he was happily embracing the corrupting influence of the Darkside.
All was well for many years, until Lord Tyric disappeared. Comm nor Telepathic Link proved capable of reaching him, all that the boy got in return was radio silence.
And Valin had no clue how to move forward without him...
